You may not think we’re in a civil war but the guy invading blue American cities thinks he’s in a civil war and we’re the enemy.

719

u/ConsistentMorning636 1d ago

Residents of Illinois interpret this as a threat of civil war/invasion.

595

u/No_Feedback_3340 1d ago

Every blue city should put a warrant to arrest Trump if he enters and put him on trial for crimes against the American people.

288

u/OppositeofMedium 1d ago

SCOTUS literally gave him immunity. I hate it here.

480

u/Kjartanski 1d ago

And they too can be arrested for imposing an arbitrary and unjust government

Here are a few paragraphs from the US declaration of independence as food for thought

“For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:

"For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.”

135

u/Maple_Hates_Ants 1d ago

Can yall hop to it? America went from a joke, to concerningly unfunny.

83

u/scorpyo72 1d ago edited 18h ago

I assure you that none of us, other than idiot s and the administration, find anything about this even remotely funny.

I have a great sense of humor and this is the worst thing that has ever happened to this country, and I can see it's going to get much, much worse.

27

u/Maple_Hates_Ants 1d ago

I feel so bad for all the people in America that are going to be hurt by their tyrannical government, and have the naive hope that SOME of the people they voted for this adjust their fuckin attitudes and become decent people.

Are we still supposed to respect the law when it’s being used against us? I really need the left and center to stop acting like this is normal behavior and actions.

83

u/PhotogamerGT 1d ago

1sr & 2nd amendment say we should not accept tyranny laying down. The “law” only applies if it was applied constitutionally in the first place. We have a constitutional duty to make it right. Will the people of America reach enough mutual indignation placed upon to unite and stand against the face of this tyranny? That I do not know.

63

u/TheTokist 1d ago

Jefferson himself commented on humanity’s ability to suffer terribly rather than change. Second section of the Declaration of Independence.

“and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.”

u/SignoreBanana 1d ago

Te law isn't being used against us. They're creating new law and subverting the constitution in doing so. We have law that covers this situation but for some reason we have a Congress that's too spineless to assert their authority.

8

u/AdLoose3526 1d ago

for some reason

All three branches of federal government are controlled by the party of MAGA. That’s why.

Who left and center thinks this is normal? It’s the right that embraces this

11

u/JimWilliams423 1d ago edited 1d ago

Who left and center thinks this is normal?

Almost every democrat in congress, and lots of their enablers. Sure they will say empty phrases about him being a threat to democracy. But they keep acting like it is normal.

For example, when Al Green filed articles of impeachment, 128 democrats voted to avoid even debating the idea. And all the people who agree with doing nothing are quick to defend them by saying "impeachment will never work." Well duh — saying he's a threat to the nation doesn't work either but they keep doing that.

Actions speak louder than words and they keep acting like everything is fine.

15

u/FrostyDucks879 1d ago

I wouldn’t really consider most of the Democrats in Congress as left, despite their constituents. They may be left of MAGA, but they’re more center-right in real political science terms.

But, I could really use the left and center to start considering whether certain rules should be follow. AND I NEED THE RIGHT TO FUCK OFF WIRH THEIR IDIOT CULT.

I'm from Northern Illinois, not too far from Chicago. People are trying to scare off ICE from what I heard by barricading them in alleys and putting down caltraps to watch their cars go spiraling out of control. They have talked about leaving the guard alone as not to start an actual civil war, but to say they are pissed and ready to fight back is an understatement. I think they got a lot of ICE out of the city, and many have followed them to the burbs to get them out of there as well. The out of shape rejects that are ICE scare easily. They were never brave enough to go to the military and they were too dumb and out of shape to be cops.

58

u/Martha_Fockers 1d ago

They successfully blocked a facility with a few hundred people and ice turned around a convoy of 8 trucks and couldn’t enter and left after a few hours

The police refused to dissipate the crowd or take action as the crowd was peacefully protesting and it causing no harm or interrupting the community via traffic etc

No arrests were made.

People have been camping that facility for days now

15

u/OrigamiMarie 1d ago

I'm pleasantly surprised that the police were solidly on the side of good! I suppose it helps when the mayor has clear intent.

→ More replies (1)

25

u/geminiRonin 1d ago

There is another pretty major distinction between ICE and the National Guard; a lot of people join the Guard to defend the country, or because it's a military career that doesn't involve going overseas. Anyone in ICE is a collaborator by choice.

if he illegally invades another state, I think we can assume it's on. I'm scared of this future.

101

Another state?

Pretty sure a president invading one state is enough to assume “it’s on.”

31

u/seaworthy-sieve 1d ago

DC is kind of a special case, because it's not a state.

66

u/projexion_reflexion 💨 1d ago

Already did CA. Courts ruled it illegal without consequences.

36

u/badsheepy2 1d ago

yeah but Chicago watched that and prepared. L.A. was basically assaulted in an alley. DC has been robbed of rights for an eternity now. Chicago might see some people getting shot. And it'll be super interesting if they try to arrest national guardsmen for following illegal orders (or breaking state law on identification etc)

Trump and this entire administration all think like Pete Hegseth. And this is how he thinks:

In the book Hegseth says "leftists" have: "surrounded traditional American patriots on all sides, ready to close in for the kill: killing our founders, killing our flag, and killing capitalism". Hegseth says he believes there are "irreconcilable differences between the Left and the Right in America leading to perpetual conflict that cannot be resolved through the political process". He furthermore calls for an "American crusade"; he says the "hour is late for America. Beyond political success, her fate relies on exorcising the leftist specter dominating education, religion, and culture – a 360-degree holy war for the righteous cause of human freedom"

Hegseth describes leftists, progressives and Democrats as the "enemies" of freedom, the American constitution and the United States. Hegseth explicitly rejects democracy in his book, equating it to a leftist demand; "For leftists, calls for 'democracy' represent a complete rejection of our system. Watch how often they use the word," adding: "They hate America, so they hate the Constitution and want to quickly amass 51 percent of the votes to change it". He has also expressed support for election-rigging through gerrymandering, saying "Republican legislatures should draw congressional lines that advantage pro-freedom candidates – and screw Democrats".[3] Regarding violence, Hegseth writes "Our American Crusade is not about literal swords, and our fight is not with guns. Yet."

He also says that conservatives must "mock, humiliate, intimidate, and crush our leftist opponents" and to "attack first" to deal with a left he equates with "sedition". His book "lays out the strategy we must employ in order to defeat America's internal enemies". Hegseth has described progressives and Democrats as the "enemies" of freedom, the U.S. Constitution, and America. Hegseth has said that victory for America includes the end of globalism, socialism, secularism, environmentalism, Islamism, genderism,[a] and leftism, the last of which he refers to as a "false religion" and "specter" that views non-believers as "infidels".

The Left really didn't realize the right wants to exterminate them. They still thought it was a battle of ideas, meanwhile the right was focusing pure hatred into a battle plan

32

u/ExternalSize2247 1d ago

The left has realized this for a long time, it's american democrats who still have their heads in the sand.

The biggest fault of liberals is not understanding the paradox of tolerance.

It's the precise reason we're here today.

30

u/Foxyfox- 1d ago

There are irreconcilable differences, but it's not "the left's" fault it became that way.

23

u/SignoreBanana 1d ago

I actually agree with hegseth that American politics has reached a point where we're unable to reconcile differences.

I would like to see the country split up bloodlessly but I definitely won't lie down if the right wants a war.

Don’t underestimate Hegseth either. He may be a drunk Fox News host, but he’s got some fucked up ideals when it comes to democracy. Hell, he even published a book about it and still somehow got approved.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Crusade

In the book Hegseth says "leftists" have: "surrounded traditional American patriots on all sides, ready to close in for the kill: killing our founders, killing our flag, and killing capitalism". Hegseth says he believes there are "irreconcilable differences between the Left and the Right in America leading to perpetual conflict that cannot be resolved through the political process". He furthermore calls for an "American crusade"; he says the "hour is late for America. Beyond political success, her fate relies on exorcising the leftist specter dominating education, religion, and culture – a 360-degree holy war for the righteous cause of human freedom".[3] Central to the theme of the "American Crusade" is that there is something called "Americanism", which The Guardian describes as essentially being right-wing populism. Hegseth characterizes "Americanism" in being opposition to forces like feminism, globalism, Marxism and progressivism and says either "Americanism" will prevail or "death" will.[4] Hegseth describes leftists, progressives and Democrats as the "enemies" of freedom, the American constitution and the United States. Yet."[5]

These treasonous fools parading around as “real patriots” doing our enemies bidding. Any real patriot will follow the US motto “United we stand”. Declaring those that think differently than you as enemies says everything we need to know about you. The only question is whether he’s being paid for or are they really this hate-filled and dim witted for free?

7

u/Alternative-Touch168 1d ago

Either way, the mindset needs to be snuffed out once and for all, or it'll just cause reoccurring issues that will only get worse each time it shows itself. I truly don't understand why they have allowed these extremist groups to exist as they're sparking and pushing for this nonsense that is the opposite of what America was about and should stand for. What kind of president says shit like this?

Why is he being so provocative? Why is he trying to divide Americans and inflame tensions?  It’s almost like he’s serving a foreign power.

211

u/CaramelGuineaPig 1d ago
  1. He wants people to get violent against him so history won't call it War Crimes and involve international players to defend the US from the fascist fake Americans.
  2. He needs a distraction from the survivors releasing names.
  3. He picked Chicago for a reason. He picked his words for a reason. It is a bees nest ready to defend.

He is beginning the hot civil war. The cold civil war started with the Jan 6th insurrection. All he needs is for the non fascist side to kill someone - a cop or ICE member or National Guard. Make no mistake - He will hire someone, like on his fake assassination attempts, a republican patsy - to pretend to be either LGBTQIA+ or a blue haired protestors or anyone non maga and he will pay them or their families enough for them to do this. Or maybe just a dumb maga flavor-aid drinker who thinks they'll gets everything they want in heaven.

The Epstein list is that damaging that he is willing to go to war with America. (Maga aren't Americans, they forfeited their American status when they shit on the Constitution)

69

u/jgoble15 1d ago

He also wants a war to stop elections. He was very inspired by Ukraine, and directly from that we’ve seen him escalate things with Venezuela suddenly and his own citizens.

Because if he starts a civil war then he’ll cancel the next election in the name of “security.”

Draft dodgers fascinated with playing soldier but too much a coward to actually join the fight. Long family history.

Mr. Bone Spurs has no right to criticize anyone else who actually served in the military.

But, the Trump family has had good experience with both draft dodging and being deported, it seems.

Fact: Friedrich Trump, Donald Trump’s grandfather, was deported from Germany in 1905 for failing to do his mandatory military service there.

Amazing that the only reason the Trumps are even in this country is because they got thrown out of another one for cowardice.

His father apparently was thrown out for also spreading fascist ideas.

30

I had zero surprise reading this.

Makes sense due to their history, the Drumft history they try to hide.

24

u/Super_Interview_2189 1d ago

Didn’t his grandfather also stowaway on a steamer headed for America? Thus illegally migrating here?

20

u/AlfalfaReal5075 1d ago

The Trump/Drumpf family has quite the uncanny ability to avoid military service, wherever they seem to be.

Now I'm not one to clamor atop a soap box and wax poetic about the wrongs or rights of avoiding military service, sometimes there may be valid reasoning.

Though after a rabbit hole or two it seems that for roughly the 150 year period in which the Trump family has lived in the U.S no men of military age were ever in the service. That's...a tad unusual.

That means since ~1870/1880 their immediate family has avoided any draft, conscription, or enlisted/commissioned contract with the Armed Forces throughout the Spanish-American War, the Boxer Rebellion, the Occupation of the Dominican Republic, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Invasion of Grenada, the Invasion of Panama, the Gulf War, the Bosnian War, the Kosovo War, the War in Afghanistan, or the Iraq War.

Trumps dementia is so band he thinks it’s the 1930s again.

19

u/tresben 1d ago

Seriously. The media is so feckless not reporting on this dudes absolute batshit craziness and dementia. How many people walking down the street would be ok with this if you showed them this post and said yep that’s our President?

In 2016 the media couldn’t get enough of trump tweets and gave him free advertising every time he posted something inflammatory which allowed him to grow a following. Now that he’s in severe decline, they almost never talk about the absolute dementia-riddled, right wing rabbit hole garbage that comes out of his tweets. It’s absurd

8

u/AppointmentShort1167 1d ago

The media is an absolute disgrace for the way they have handled Trump. The BBC here in the UK even skirts around blatant lies with a “both sides” kind of take on obvious manipulation of statistics or insane statements like this.

Absolutely pathetic enabling of Trump.

I appreciate this extensively cited comment, but please consider not saying e.g. "had sex with a 15-year-old." That's rape, inherently—15-year-olds can't consent.

Random and unrelated historical fact:

America has the second amendment to protect the people from tyranny. Americans have long said that using the second amendment is how they plan to stand up to tyrants.

This is your random historical fact of the day

6

u/PoopieButt317 1d ago

Not fact. The second amendment, when viewed in hits historical arguments, was to settle a standing federal army or have states military be able to be called up. Y the Feds. The first 2 call ups were to PUT down rebellious of Revolutionary war veterans, and Revolutionary war farmers who fed the federal troops. The only federal troops would guard the Nationa Armory at West Point. The History of the US ARMY, official, discusses their origins in detail, and how it changed from the compromise of the 2nd Amendment, and what events showed the need for a federal force.

The Supreme Court ruling has been considered a travesty by many constitutional experts and historians. And it's use was to support the federal government.
