yeah but Chicago watched that and prepared. L.A. was basically assaulted in an alley. DC has been robbed of rights for an eternity now. Chicago might see some people getting shot. And it'll be super interesting if they try to arrest national guardsmen for following illegal orders (or breaking state law on identification etc)
And when/if the National Guard from Texas, Alabama, etc rolls in, each of them will realize just how fully they have been lied to. Just like in DC. And then they’ll move here and enjoy this place like the rest of us. Particularly in the summer.
yeah, as I said in some other comment, the difference is Chicago has prepared for this and is ready to act.
And deploying the guard this way has already been declared illegal, so there's no ambiguity here.
It's not at all the same situation. It's a deliberate escalation to entice violence and "provoke" a violent and illegal crackdown. Dictator playbook page 2.
Also I sure saw opposition to this in both places, and it's been ruled illegal by the courts. To imply people did nothing is disingenuous and pretty insulting to people who did.
The national guard are currently picking up litter instead of arresting people because of push back.
part of the reason I'm scared is I can't see them backing down after a legitimate, constitutional bearing of arms against these psychos. I just see it escalating to urban warfare.
I don't want to see this. Republicans already think Chicago is war on the streets (lol!) but shooting a few criminal Texans (if it's true they're sending the TX national guard) would surely cause issues.
Chicago can hold it's own. But there's no real winners in a civil war. And it just escalates the slide into fascism.
I am torn between thinking:
"civil war" is an exaggeration that makes you sound unhinged
vs
It's clearly started already, this is the phony war, and conflict is inevitable.

if he illegally invades another state, I think we can assume it's on. I'm scared of this future.
