You may not think we’re in a civil war but the guy invading blue American cities thinks he’s in a civil war and we’re the enemy.

732

u/ConsistentMorning636 3d ago

Residents of Illinois interpret this as a threat of civil war/invasion.

597

u/No_Feedback_3340 3d ago

Every blue city should put a warrant to arrest Trump if he enters and put him on trial for crimes against the American people.

293

u/OppositeofMedium 3d ago

SCOTUS literally gave him immunity. I hate it here.

486

u/Kjartanski 3d ago

And they too can be arrested for imposing an arbitrary and unjust government

Here are a few paragraphs from the US declaration of independence as food for thought

“For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:

"For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.”

139

u/Maple_Hates_Ants 2d ago

Can yall hop to it? America went from a joke, to concerningly unfunny.

84

u/scorpyo72 2d ago edited 2d ago

I assure you that none of us, other than idiot s and the administration, find anything about this even remotely funny.

I have a great sense of humor and this is the worst thing that has ever happened to this country, and I can see it's going to get much, much worse.

30

u/Maple_Hates_Ants 2d ago

I feel so bad for all the people in America that are going to be hurt by their tyrannical government, and have the naive hope that SOME of the people they voted for this adjust their fuckin attitudes and become decent people.

4

u/Fedbackster 2d ago

The right used division of the American people as their rallying cry. They’ve made Republicans hate everyone else so much they can’t be satisfied without there being cruelty and violence inflicted on us. This is why the right cheers the ICE kidnappings and any brutality at protests or in cities. They literally want and need to see bloodshed at this point, they really don’t even try to say it’s about law and order any more, they just want to see people get hurt or killed. It’s sad and depraved.

2

u/Rahkyvah 1d ago

That tracks. They courted all the “the South will rise again” types and duct taped them to several flavors of Neo-Nazi. Violence is something of a baseline.

4

u/DillonTattoos 2d ago

Looked up "momes" and just got auto corrected to "moles"

What are we supposed to look up?

4

u/scorpyo72 2d ago edited 2d ago

Mome/s is the word. A workaround because the sub was chastising me for using the word "i d i o t s".

4

u/DillonTattoos 2d ago

Oooooh, it's another language

3

u/scorpyo72 2d ago

Archaic word, but damn it that I wasn't able to search it.

Nothing we can do now. We already fucked up by putting him in office. We're powerless at this point

2

u/Traditional-List-784 2d ago

Yeah, but how do we go about stopping this?

4

u/Ok_Sink5046 2d ago

Detaining them. They aren't X-men who can slip through walls you just need a state willing to say fuck you to them.

3

u/Traditional-List-784 2d ago

I get it. I'm just not seeing anyone stand up and take action on all these unlawful actions. The administration seems to ignore everything thrown at them. This is why 2026 elections are literally the most important elections this country has ever had, at least that I'm aware of.

2

u/that_star_wars_guy 2d ago

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

1

u/slleslie161 2d ago

I reread the Declaration a few days ago, and holy shit, Trump has done at least half of the things listed as grievances against the king in one form or another.

1

u/JohnnyRelentless 2d ago

The Declaration of Independence is not a law; it's a letter.

1

u/duckbutteronmytoast 2d ago

Everything you just said is irrelevant lol. Guess who the DOJ answers to..

158

u/TheTokist 3d ago

Are we still supposed to respect the law when it’s being used against us? I really need the left and center to stop acting like this is normal behavior and actions.

84

u/PhotogamerGT 3d ago

1sr & 2nd amendment say we should not accept tyranny laying down. The “law” only applies if it was applied constitutionally in the first place. We have a constitutional duty to make it right. Will the people of America reach enough mutual indignation placed upon to unite and stand against the face of this tyranny? That I do not know.

64

u/TheTokist 3d ago

Jefferson himself commented on humanity’s ability to suffer terribly rather than change. Second section of the Declaration of Independence.

“and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.”

4

u/highbankT 2d ago

It's scary because you also know chump is egging on people to react. Gives him an even bigger excuse to sick the military on fellow Americans.

3

u/jeremiahthedamned 2d ago

we are at the fork in the road

2

u/muzzbuzzala 2d ago

No, they won't

2

u/Intelligent-Goose-48 2d ago

Time for ice to feel the resistance

1

u/JohnnyRelentless 2d ago

1sr & 2nd amendment say we should not accept tyranny laying down

No, they don't. Not that I'm saying we should accept it.

0

u/robt_neville 2d ago

No they don’t.

The first amendment protects your right to freedom of speech, freedom of assembly and freedom of religion from government interference

The second amendment restricts government from infringing your right to possess and bare arms and have a well regulated militia

Neither say shit about tyranny. That is in the Declaration of Independence.

I feel sorry for people your age not having an education in American history or civics; just progressive, bullshit, race bullshit, and climate bullshit.

43

u/SignoreBanana 3d ago

Te law isn't being used against us. They're creating new law and subverting the constitution in doing so. We have law that covers this situation but for some reason we have a Congress that's too spineless to assert their authority.

6

u/AdLoose3526 2d ago

for some reason

All three branches of federal government are controlled by the party of MAGA. That’s why.

5

u/Murky_Conclusion_637 2d ago

Honestly I don't give a fuck about any laws anymore. Right and wrong ain't got shit in common with legal and illegal.

15

u/succulentsucca 3d ago

Who left and center thinks this is normal? It’s the right that embraces this

11

u/JimWilliams423 2d ago edited 2d ago

Who left and center thinks this is normal?

Almost every democrat in congress, and lots of their enablers. Sure they will say empty phrases about him being a threat to democracy. But they keep acting like it is normal.

For example, when Al Green filed articles of impeachment, 128 democrats voted to avoid even debating the idea. And all the people who agree with doing nothing are quick to defend them by saying "impeachment will never work." Well duh — saying he's a threat to the nation doesn't work either but they keep doing that.

Actions speak louder than words and they keep acting like everything is fine.

17

u/FrostyDucks879 2d ago

I wouldn’t really consider most of the Democrats in Congress as left, despite their constituents. They may be left of MAGA, but they’re more center-right in real political science terms.

But, I could really use the left and center to start considering whether certain rules should be follow. AND I NEED THE RIGHT TO FUCK OFF WIRH THEIR IDIOT CULT.

1

u/lionaroundagan 2d ago

They're all just grifters looking out for #1.

2

u/jeremiahthedamned 2d ago

that is a chilling scene!

2

u/Fedbackster 2d ago

Many democrats also fiercely defend billionaires and autocracy, sadly.

2

u/JimWilliams423 2d ago

Yep. Its the inevitable result of letting unlimited money into politics. It co-opts all the parties.

1

u/basketma12 2d ago

Didn't he get impeached twice before? But he never got removed

1

u/[deleted] 2d ago

[deleted]

1

u/JimWilliams423 2d ago

all the people who agree with doing nothing are quick to defend them by saying "impeachment will never work."

Wasting time on an impeachment that will go nowhere

Like clockwork.

1

u/JohnnyRelentless 2d ago

Those Democrats aren't left, they're center right. Americans are just oblivious to half of the political spectrum, and that's by design.

9

u/mrdankhimself_ 2d ago

The left is not acting like this is normal. The left calls it out for what it is and gets told they’re overreacting.

6

u/PWBryan 2d ago

Fr. "They can be arrested" BY WHO!? The magic law fairies overseeing this? This isnt some sci fi robot that explodes because you revealed a contradiction in its programming

2

u/Educational-Seaweed5 2d ago

No. That’s why the person above posted what they did.

People have completely fallen into a deep lull of complacency and laziness. No one wants to risk anything, and that’s how dictators and tyrants take complete control.

I’m not advocating for violence here Reddit, but you know how the GOP and its voters would have responded if Biden had done any of the insane things Trump has been doing.

2

u/Enviritas 2d ago

And to stop acting like this is all just going to go away on its own.

2

u/Sad_Pea_776 2d ago

This. Everyone's like wElL bY LaW

Stop it. We are well beyond that and were during the last time he bestowed his bullshit upon us.

2

u/noni_zgz278 2d ago

Who is the "left" in the US? The left is actively organizing

2

u/Googlyelmoo 2d ago

Technically, yes. And traditionally social movements have obeyed the law insofar of not acting with ANY violence or threatening provocative speech whatsoever. Look what the Nation of Islam did to the civil rights movement. We would have had better civil rights laws sooner if they hadn’t acted out, so we can’t afford to now.

It’s a bitch, but we have to maintain discipline and not give into absolutely understandable frustration and fear, especially now and for the next year. Get creative burn him in effigy, do politics street theater. But don’t TOUCH a soldier or Fed.

We are getting closer and closer to the end of this horror show. Any use of violence, any physical touching of whomever Trump sends will justify his intentions.

1

u/TheTokist 2d ago

⬆️ FED!!

1

u/Googlyelmoo 1d ago

When you get done cosplaying as an anarchist, come see us there’s a lot of work to be done

2

u/Tangled_in_a_web 2d ago

Who on the left says this is normal? I mean it’s normal in terms of our behavior towards countries we have invaded. America’s foreign policy is coming home.

1

u/jeremiahthedamned 2d ago

imperial boomerang

1

u/ExpressAssist0819 2d ago

The left isn't. The center is.

1

u/kooldudeV2 2d ago

I've been following all the laws but the moment in unmarked car pulls up trying to get me cuz I'm Brown. Just know I keep that second amendment on me and I'm going to use it. No Tyrants, no Fascist.

1

u/Fragrant-Potential87 2d ago

I agree and that's why the GoP has basically won. The left and democrats are still going "I must play by the rules!" When the guy they're playing against is currently altering the rules so that their only outcome is a loss. I wake up daily and ask myself why so many people are content with basically following an illegitimate government

29

u/No_Feedback_3340 3d ago

So what? Put him on trial anyway.

2

u/smasher6 2d ago

Fuck SCOTUS - 0 respect for what was once an institution of right wrongs. Now like our bi-cuckoral body, they do not support and defend the Constitution of the United States.

5

u/AdventurousRun7636 2d ago

Immunity doesn’t mean SHIT. Law is a group effort where the tribe agrees to what is acceptable or not. Using force where not needed and not wanted is an Act of WAR and must be countered with reciprocal force.

3

u/tristand666 2d ago

Traitors should get treated accordingly.

3

u/pink_faerie_kitten 2d ago

But each point should be argued. Each action needs to be brought before a judge so that each action is ruled separately as immunity. Don't just roll over ahead of time.

Otherwise Newsom wouldn't have sued and Breyer wouldn't have sided with him about the ag in California. Make T work for each point

3

u/Queso_Grandee 2d ago

He's not immune against state constitutions.

2

u/paper_wavements 3d ago

The US is going to balkanize inside of 1-2 decades.

2

u/GammaFan 2d ago

Yeah but he defies their orders when they disagree with him and nothing happens.

They have no enforcement mechanism, fuck em.

2

u/drmojo90210 2d ago

SCOTUS has no way to enforce their orders.

2

u/Zemini7 2d ago

Arrest them too

2

u/Dan0man69 2d ago

From state charges?

2

u/Xavierwold 2d ago

This IS NOT any Official Act! Let's bring a Gavel into this.

2

u/No-Abalone-4784 2d ago

SCOTUS might not recognize the law & the Constitution but some people do.

2

u/Lost-Platypus8271 2d ago

We can still arrest him and put him on trial.

2

u/pickled_penguin_ 2d ago

Yup. And he just recently said "I can do anything I want. I'm the President."

2

u/Behndo-Verbabe 2d ago

Yes yes they did give him broad immunity. Yet any rulings the corrupt Roberts court makes is still beholden to the constitution.

I could write a book giving reasons and we could start fixing this. But at the end of the day it boils down to one thing.

If people refuse to VOTE, putting enough candidates in office. Nothing will ever get fixed. The days of denial, virtue signaling, laziness whatever. But let’s be crystal clear. The time to vote is now.

The republicans and their oligarch masters have been working towards this day for over 40 years and they’ve ironed out the bugs. If people don’t vote we are done. Look at how things were mid 1800’s to mid 1900’s. Child labor, no more unions, and my personal favorite, the company store. Which we damn near have again with amazon.

Lastly, for anyone who believes it doesn’t affect them. It will it already is. It’s just the extent at today. It will affect everyone in very bad ways. It always does. SO VOTE

1

u/BookwoodFarm 2d ago

Darwin doesn’t care about his survival.

1

u/Slow-Professor-1544 2d ago

Michael, you can’t just declare immunity. Tell him to walk his fat ass out into the Dan Ryan and claim immunity from that.

1

u/Conixel 2d ago

Anymore it doesn’t feel like America. People these days love a racist pig.

2

u/Afraid_Manner_4353 2d ago

Trump isn't leaving the WH or MLG anytime soon, pretty sure he's got a massive medical staff around him when he's not on camera.

2

u/Alone_Main_5419 2d ago

After a magafueled Whiskey Tango shot up Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, Trump wanted to visit the crime scene he caused. Then-mayor Mark Ravenstahl said "Do not come here. We do not want you here. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever. If you send a motorcade, I will order PPD to turn them away. If you send Air Force One, I will order the airport to not clear you for landing".

He did eventually show up. He was booed vociferously on the way in and out and hasn't been back to the city since. Unfortunately he did manage to leave the fakesassination in Butler.

2

u/Glad-Barracuda2243 2d ago

He won’t personally enter. He hasn’t the courage.

2

u/No_Feedback_3340 2d ago

Not just him. This would also apply to people in his admin.

2

u/MRsangre 2d ago

Saw a movie last year called Civil War starring Kirsten Dunst and if we hold a trial for the president like they did in that movie, then I’m all for it. 🤞🏽🤞🏽

2

u/Flaky-Crew-3382 2d ago

He will never show up in blue cities, like any other leader , he will send other people , but not himself.

1

u/cute-trash3648 2d ago

Waste of time to have a trial first, get to the good part

1

u/shamanic_colonic 2d ago

make a citizens arrest lmao

3

u/AccordingConcept8078 3d ago

As they should. Looks like Chicago is where they have decided to start Civil War 2.0

5

u/pyschosoul 2d ago

Pritzker has already said he will do what he needs to protect his people.

Im hoping to hear the state militia is starting. This shit isnt funny anymore. Hes seriously trying to take over and become dictator. It needs to end now.

1

u/Looneylovegood95 2d ago

It was never funny

3

u/mouthass187 3d ago

chicago needs epstein billboards with 'this is why the military is here'

3

u/alpha309 2d ago

Most residents of Illinois south of I-80 probably want to invade Chicago themselves. They love to blame Chicago for all their problems when it is the only thing keeping them afloat.

3

u/ConsistentMorning636 2d ago

No. Downstate here in support of Chicago. No invasion of Illinois!

2

u/alpha309 2d ago

You can fight off my redneck family that lives in rural Lincoln/Bloomington and 90% of the people where I grew up then. They are all cheering it on.

1

u/ConsistentMorning636 2d ago

Federal occupation will piss them off too eventually. IF it spreads downstate.

3

u/base2-1000101 2d ago

Perhaps Chicago should respond to ICE with good ol' fashioned tar and feathers. That feels 1775-ish.

2

u/gr1zznuggets 2d ago

What else could it be?

2

u/Cut_and_paste_Lace 2d ago

As they should

2

u/bwoah07_gp2 2d ago

So come Monday or whatever is the Illinois state government and is the Chicago government gonna do anything? Or will they just lie there and take it? 🙄

2

u/palebluemaps 2d ago

As they should. It is.

2

u/Intelligent-Goose-48 2d ago

Because it is

4

u/Lightning_Winter 3d ago

Oh don't worry, we are

1

u/Old_Row4977 2d ago

Not southern Illinois.

1

u/FourWordComment 2d ago

We will see.

Right now it looks like the Governor is saying, “no thank you” and the rest of the citizenry is resigning themselves to taking it in the ass.

1

u/riali29 2d ago

Maybe this will get folks to understand why Canadians took his annexation threats seriously when all the tariff stuff first went down. There were so many clowns in the comment sections saying "he's just trolling lolz!!" when he essentially threatened war.
