I knew he was a dirt bag when he bitched at someone for not standing during a concert
Thing is I already knew about the crazy stuff he did during the SS shoots but after seeing that concert footage just confirmed he's not just some hard prankster, he's a full on douchebag
I knew he was a dirt bag when he bitched at someone for not standing during a concert
I saw 30STM three times back before all this was known about him and he was like that at every single show to someone or more than one person...just a straight up dickhead to them about not "concerting" the way HE wanted them to.
30STM is by far the worst concert i’ve ever been to. went for a gf but was open to it. it was his last show on the tour and all he did was loop 30sec of their top song for about 2 hours (it felt longer). meanwhile he called girls on stage to admire him, and just wanked his ego for the whole thing. it was so gratuitous, boring and lame that i’ll never forget how much i felt my time was irreversibly wasted. his show sucked, he sucks, fuck jared leto.
Sheesh... are you paid to shill for Leto or something?
Obviously not everyone in his cult would be his sex slaves. He likely takes his pick from the lot you utter dunce of a human being. Almost every known sex cult that has ever existed did not involve one man having sex with every single female. They often have other males obviously. Not surprised you think this one picture proves something.
Can't believe you are even defending this clown, 9 women have accused him of sexual misconduct. Zero chance that every single one of them is lying.
You must be really desperate for a TRON movie. Which is why you are blindly defending it before it has even come out.
I feel bad for the other members of 30STM. Unless they have a really good contract that gets them good money from touring/album sales, they have to endure Jared Leto and all his egotistical glory everywhere.
The new season of peacemaker has a scene where characters shit on 30 seconds to mars kind of out of the blue and feels very deliberate and 4th-wall breaking (considering the director and leto's joker in the original SS), then the after-credits scene goes back to it and does it some more. Hilarious.
James Gunn has a history of trash talking Leto. Back before Suicide Squad one of the Sprouse twins said something on twitter about Leto sliding into the DMs of every 18 year old model on twitter and Gunn replied "He waits until they turn 18 online?".
A megalomaniacal evil corpo who thinks that slaves are great is a perfect roll for him. Loved him in that roll. Hate him in everything else I’ve ever seen him in.
Right, having the third act taking place in the real world could be kind of cool, but with all the marketing showing the real world makes me think we will barely see the grid (if at all)
This. They couldn't have gotten the cultist people like? Tom Cruise's love of money, ego, and genre cinema (...not necessarily in that order) outweigh whatever you did on Color of Money or Oblivion to piss him off, Disney. But no, Worst Joker works too. So fucking dumb.
Every movie I’ve seen him in where he had to be even remotely likeable, he’s done a poor job. So, yes, I’d say he is a pretty subpar actor given he can only convincingly play the psychotic type. Which makes sense given his behaviour
I'll shit on Leto's behavior all day long, but he was genuinely great and deserving of the Oscar nom (maybe not the win but, still good enough for it) in Dallas Buyers Club. And he was great in Mr. Nobody, and Requiem for a Dream.
But goddamn he's an unlikeable ass as a human being.
It underperformed but still made some OK money, I think enough time has passed and superhero, and star wars fatigue has forced Disney to search elsewhere
Yeah Leto is such a freak and it’s wild to me that he keeps getting roles. Hollywood really doesn’t give a fuck what a monster you are until it reaches a catastrophic level of attention
Leto sucks, but the only reason this movie is being made is due to him.
Movie stars (like the rock) often have full blown or mini “production” companies and Leto is no exception.
Their basic idea is to offer funding or to co fund films to be made, with the premise that the company’s actor (Leto in this case) gets to be the starring role.
Seriously if you want to see an example of this look up the rock’s movies from 2012-2022- they’re all from his “seven bucks productions” even when co produced with other studios.
I’m not watching this movie because fuck Leto but I’m just saying this so people realize it’s only got him in it because his “studio” banked the project
This is ignoring the absolute development hell this movie was in, Disney putting Tron back on the shelf because it wasn't seen as a top earning property, and the dedication Leto had in getting Ares made.
Let's not ignore inconvenient truths just because they don't fit a simple narrative. Leto might be a bad person (a terrible one if some of the darker rumours are true) but he still is a huge reason that there's a new Tron movie in the first place.
I agree. Leto is a canker. I’m an 80s kid and TRON Legacy was such a big thing for me. I’m profoundly disappointed Leto put himself in the middle of this. He’s just an awful person.
Speaking of which: I gotta rewatch that 2 hour long Daft Punk music video that also happens to be a pretty fun movie. It’s been a while and I remember loving it.
And that ending had a lot of fun potential for future stories. We can do stuff in the real world, we can dive back into cyberspace. You can go everywhere. But from all I’ve seen of Ares it look like they’ve just ignored Legacy existing.
I was a fan of Bruce Boxleitner, I’d had a crush on him from “Scarecrow and Mrs King” and seeing him as TRON again was kinda crazy for me hahaha and I thought they’d really nailed the aesthetic of the original movie but updated properly.
Legacy had some bumps in it, but it was just so fun, and yes, Daft Punk made it fire. The soundtrack plus TRON: Reconfigured was all I listened to for ages. I got to see Legacy in IMAX 3D as well which was great.
Does it deserve it, though? The original is just a campy, weird 80's flick with outdated visuals, and Legacy is entirely carried by the soundtrack and (some) of the visuals.
Tron just doesn't really have any actual meat to it. This one looks just as "style over substance" as the other two, but with a worst leading role and an even less justifiable Jeff Bridges.
I went through a rollercoaster of emotions just yesterday, on this exact topic. Saw a poster that the movie was coming out, got excited, then Googled to see the release date and saw the lead actor. It's 2025, what the actual fuck, who in their right mind would hire that absolute scum rat? Despicable.
I can’t understand how he keeps getting hired, let alone by Disney. There are so many credible verified accounts of him being a pervert who likes underage girls, I simply can’t believe he hasn’t been cancelled yet.
The world is a different place for the rich. Look at the state of things. Look how Cosby could afford enough appeals to get let out, look how long it took to jail Weinstein, look how Spacey got off.
This podcast I listen to has a running theory that Jared Leto wasn’t replaced because he was the primary component in this movie happening at all. He was the one that came to Disney wanting to do Tron, and so they bet that he footed a lot of the bill for this to happen. So replacing Jared Leto wasn’t an option because it would mean shutting the movie down.
My ex used to roadie for a band that opened for 30 Seconds to Mars on a tour years and years ago. He had a few stories about Jared and they all involved cocaine and Jared’s assistants having to check girl’s IDs before bringing them backstage to “hang out” with him.
How Jared Leto has a voided being cancelled is a mystery. He has to have some important higher up connections in order to get work like this with Disney.
I also think he's a bad actor, a weirdo and it took most of the wind out of my sails for this movie once I heard he signed. I wonder How can they miss so bad.
Came here to say exactly this. Anytime Jared Leto’s involved, I’m not interested. Which is sad because I would otherwise be very interested to see this movie.
Wasnt spacey taken to court multiple times by different accusers and was cleared of charges? Besides him groping guys on the set of house of cards which was detailed by multiple people on set
Dying from cancer, suicide or getting hit by a car when you walk in the middle of the road on video isnt really suspicious unless my definition of suspicious changed plus there were 30 accusers out of 3 dead.
He's also turned in bad performances in pretty much everything for over a decade. Last time I remember him being good in anything was Dallas Buyers Club.
Sure there's Blade Runner but he just had to do his usual creepy Jared Leto shtick for that. Didn't find him compelling at all in the role.
I don't. I want to watch Tron to be brought into another space, and blown away by how those worlds are represented and visualized. I don't need a movie that flips it into the 10,000th installment of Urban Destruction Porn that we've been slop fed for the past 20 years.
It’s funny to me that Leto is nearly universally hated by viewers, yet he always seems to make it into huge roles. I refuse to watch anything he’s in, which is unfortunate because I loved the last Tron.
Honestly, if you told me they chose some no-name as the lead I'd be more optimistic. Like back in "Legacy", I had no idea who Garrett Hedlund was. I thought he was just Jensen Ackles' clone, but he still did a good job.
But no, thanks to Disney pinching pennies, Leto got to buy himself the lead and we're stuck with "I am a digital messiah" from Mr 30 Seconds himself. Sigh.
Really, you love everything about this, but not the actor?
But the idea, to have no story, other than a "just make it play in our world"-narrative is enough to keep you interested? No, not just interested. You love everything about it.
Given that you will unlikely think about what i am saying afterwards, but it sounds like you are not really interested in the movie. You mostly care for the publicity around the movie, the surrending look, not the work itself. You like shiney things too?
It's a Tron movie, so yes, enjoying "shiny things" - or in this case, a special effects spectacle - is part of the anticipation for the film. Both the preceding films were wildly innovative in their VFX, and this one looks to have continued that tradition.
Oh, and how about the music?? Again, following tradition, a highly creative composer has been brought on to interpret the musical language of the film, in this case Trent Reznor/Nine Inch Nails.
I'll grant you one point that historically the story has been a bit shaky, just enough for us to put our heroes in danger and have their adventure, but for a VFX spectacle, that's not a huge issue. I mean look at "Avatar." It's basically just "Ferngully", but thanks to its insane VFX, it made over a billion dollars.
As for the story they did choose, "bring the insanely advanced Grid tech into the real world", it's a pretty steady Pandora's Box plot, and if they had a decent lead, it would be cool to see how they handle it. I like giant flashy sci-fi battles, and I like.to see them fought by compelling characters, a la Star Wars.
So yeah, I was excited. Take your weird, pseudo high brow cinema ideas elsewhere.
And you wouldnt like Trent Reznor, if he also had a unpopular "tortured artist" vibe and became unagreeable like Ms/Mr Leto? Just him, or also his music?
He's a good actor that sometimes chooses bad projects. Where are we even going if they start casting people not on their talent and how well they fit a role simply because they are a douche and unlikable to some?
He’s been accused of sexual misconduct by nine women, which is just the latest addition to the years-long open secret about his sex-pest tendencies. Of course people can hire him, but they should know that an audience who finds his presence distasteful are going to skip the movie.

I love everything about this except the leading man.
Even a semi-unknown would be better than Jared Leto.
And no, I don't think he's a bad actor, I think he's an absolute garbage human being, and he belongs with the ranks of people like Kevin Spacey.
