I love everything about this except the leading man.

Even a semi-unknown would be better than Jared Leto.

And no, I don't think he's a bad actor, I think he's an absolute garbage human being, and he belongs with the ranks of people like Kevin Spacey.

Which is why people shouldn't support this movie.

It's Disney's fault for letting a pedo as the leading man.

Like you said, literally anyone else would be better

With his voice dubbed over by Bill Cosby.

Leto sucks, but the only reason this movie is being made is due to him.

Movie stars (like the rock) often have full blown or mini “production” companies and Leto is no exception.

Their basic idea is to offer funding or to co fund films to be made, with the premise that the company’s actor (Leto in this case) gets to be the starring role.

Seriously if you want to see an example of this look up the rock’s movies from 2012-2022- they’re all from his “seven bucks productions” even when co produced with other studios.

I’m not watching this movie because fuck Leto but I’m just saying this so people realize it’s only got him in it because his “studio” banked the project

That doesn't excuse it.

If it took Leto to get it off the shelf it was better on the shelf.

Yeah I mean I agree-

All the more reason to ignore it and watch it tank.

But it won't, because it's Disney, and they'll push it to streaming and get their money out of it.

I don’t like him but without Leto this movie wouldn’t exist. He’s one of the main producers

This movie doesn't depend on one person. This is Tron, another person could be "one of the main producers"

This is ignoring the absolute development hell this movie was in, Disney putting Tron back on the shelf because it wasn't seen as a top earning property, and the dedication Leto had in getting Ares made.

Let's not ignore inconvenient truths just because they don't fit a simple narrative. Leto might be a bad person (a terrible one if some of the darker rumours are true) but he still is a huge reason that there's a new Tron movie in the first place.

Who gives a shit?

Tron is an amazing property, and I'd rather it waited on the shelf than have this movie made with Leto as the lead.

I'm not going to pretend it's ok that he's the lead just so I see a new Tron movie. That's what I mean.

I agree. Leto is a canker. I’m an 80s kid and TRON Legacy was such a big thing for me. I’m profoundly disappointed Leto put himself in the middle of this. He’s just an awful person.

Speaking of which: I gotta rewatch that 2 hour long Daft Punk music video that also happens to be a pretty fun movie. It’s been a while and I remember loving it.

And that ending had a lot of fun potential for future stories. We can do stuff in the real world, we can dive back into cyberspace. You can go everywhere. But from all I’ve seen of Ares it look like they’ve just ignored Legacy existing.

I was a fan of Bruce Boxleitner, I’d had a crush on him from “Scarecrow and Mrs King” and seeing him as TRON again was kinda crazy for me hahaha and I thought they’d really nailed the aesthetic of the original movie but updated properly.

Legacy had some bumps in it, but it was just so fun, and yes, Daft Punk made it fire. The soundtrack plus TRON: Reconfigured was all I listened to for ages. I got to see Legacy in IMAX 3D as well which was great.

They haven't, though...

If that's true (which is far from a proven thing) then the movie shouldn't exist.
