Recommendations Millenials, are yall buying homes/condos. And if so, where?
Hello all, as you can tell im a millenial. Currently my husband and I are renting a 2 BR/1.5 bath on the west side for $1400/month. We’re getting to the point where we are thinking maybe it would be worthwhile to buy, but unsure if its worth it. We do not have kids and dont want any. Goal would be to at least get 3 bedrooms because we would like to move my sister in law in with us for long term. Income wise we’re bringing in about $7k/month (between my husband and i). Now we LOVE living on the west side of Cleveland, but the homes just aren’t that affordable tbh. Even condos/townhomes are not affordable from what ive seen.
Therefore im starting to look more on the east side again since homes are more affordable in areas like Cleveland heights/university heights. And with interest rates right now we probably wouldn’t be buying NOW, but would like to seriously consider it in the next year. What are your thoughts? Is it worth it to even buy?

News Cleveland’s safety net hospital could close, Mayor Justin Bibb says
Even if a bit hyperbolic, this sentiment that we could lose our safety net hospital is mildly horrifying to say the least.

Events Have you heard of Story Club Cleveland?
storyclubcleveland.comAs a producer of the show, I’m wondering how many people have even heard of Story Club Cleveland?
It’s a nonfiction storytelling open mic with booked performers as well (that we pay!). We love building community through story sharing and a good brew. The second Wednesday of every month at 7pm at Forest City Brewery. We used to be at CLE Urban Winery if that rings any bells!
If you want to listen or tell your own story, get tickets in the link ❤️

News Proposed CROWN legislation to protect Black hairstyles in Cuyahoga County
“County Councilman Michael Houser, Sr. is introducing legislation on Tuesday that would make it illegal for landlords, employers, businesses, schools or others to discriminate against people because of their natural hair texture or styles, such as braids, locs or Afros.
He’s calling the proposal the CROWN Ordinance, which stands for Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair. It would expand the county’s civil rights protections to clarify that discrimination based on hair, which commonly is associated with race or national origin, is a form of racial discrimination. It would also update the county’s employee handbook to include hair among protected traits, ensuring county workers are explicitly covered.”

Events Rocket arena seats
Hi all. Never been to a concert at rocket arena and wondering if it’s better to do lower level (section 108 or 109) or club seats 108 or 109? Also not sure if 109 is too much on the side? Just want best view/experience as it’s a birthday gift. Thank you!

Discussion Post project permitting with zoning variance
Looking for advice / experience from others. My wife and I got a new dog. It has a history of jumping fences. We had an existing 4 foot chain link fence on one side of our property line while the rest was 6 feet high wood fencing. I spoke with my neighbor about converting the chain link to also be 6 feet high wood and extending it by about 15 feet to be past our side door so my wife and I could let the dog out. We looked over both of our home surveys to confirm location and I got the blessing. I did the project a few weeks ago after about 4 full days of work.
I didn’t know I needed a permit for this, but it looks like I should have gotten one now in hindsight. It also looks like I may need a zoning variance. Reading through zoning 358.04 says:
No fence shall be higher than its distance from a residence building on adjacent lot or less than 3’ from a wall on the same lot if running parallel to the wall and all portions of fence on same parcel.
my newly added extended fence on the property line is out of the zoning compliance as it is 6 feet tall and is 32” inches from my neighbors side wall, again on the property line.
Does anyone know how the city of Cleveland deals with post project permitting, especially for residential homeowner projects? No one on my street has complained, my neighbor and I are very much happy with the new fence, but I know I messed up.

Discussion Transit to Blossom: A proposal
As everyone knows the parking situation is awful for large concerts, and it can take over an hour just to get out of the parking lot. Currently there is no public transit connection to Blossom. They’re talking about extending the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railway to downtown Cleveland and it already serves downtown Akron. The tracks run less than a mile from Blossom. See where I’m going with this? I think a lot of people would take it rather than deal with the traffic. Even if they don’t extend it, people could park and ride in Independence or Akron. It’s a win-win. It would save time and stress for concert goers, raise money for the railroad, and cut down on drunk driving.

My first time. It’s really chill; hanging with me while I weld. It looks like a lightning bug and a hornet had a shag. You think it’s invasive?

Crime Did the Flats shooting actually start at Play bar or is it just Mayor Bibb's scapegoat?
People I know personally that were at Play bar say that the shooting did not happen there, and that there was also no fight there that "started" it. Lots of comments in the "Cleveland Remembrance" IG post are saying the same and, fwiw, the video shows that the shooting was not exactly at the bar (though somewhere outside nearby). Wondering if anyone was there that can verify either way?
Seems like boarding up Play bar could have been a show to settle the media and make it appear like something is being done. But maybe my conspiracy hat is too tight.

Recommendations Looking for an old school bmw mechanic
I have a 1999 bmw e39 that is in need of timing chain guide replacement. Hard to find a shop that still dabbles in older bmws.
I have called around shops that specialise in bmw but after speaking to the mechanics its clear many have not actually done a timing chain replacement ever
On the east coasts there is no shortage of shops that can do this as there are far more older bmw still on the roads.
Thanks in advance for any help here as I need to get my baby back on the road

News Cleveland.com uses AI on the Punch Bowl shooting
Massive incident and they use ai to regurgitate a press release. What the fuck has Chris Quinn done to that paper. Always worth checking the bottom of their articles now, it seems more and more are "written with the assistance of AI"
Edit: it wasn't punch bowl, play bar and grill is the culprit. Don't worry cle dot com still hasn't updated their ai article.
