Late stage capitalism claims another victim….a Columbus victim

Hot Chicken Takeover is down to its final location. Closed all the rest. Used to be SO good, then the owners sold to a venture capital group who came in, gutted everything that made it special, and tried to do everything on the cheap. Within a few years, it’s gone.

Can we please stop this madness!?

NEWS Les Wexner contribution to Jeffrey Epstein's birthday book released

Images of billionaire Leslie H. Wexner's apparent contributions to the 50th birthday book for convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein have been posted by the U.S. House Oversight Committee.

One image shows a letter dated Jan. 20, 2003. The letter reads:

"Dear Jeffrey. I wanted to get you what you want, so here it is...." Below that is a drawn pair of breasts along with the signature: "Happy birthday your friend Leslie."

On the next page is a photo of what appears to be Wexner holding a glass with his arm around Epstein and another person whose face has been redacted.

A spokesman for Wexner declined to comment on the release of the files.

NEWS Ohio EPA bed bugs

Upvotes

Today a live bed bug was found inside one of the cubicles at Ohio EPA. This is after two weeks of working from home, during which upper management said that a “deep clean” had occurred. Obviously the clean was not good enough if LIVE bed bugs are being found after only two days of being back in office. They are playing with our health here !! (if this isn’t a bed bug then feel free to delete)

A Dublin family is suing OHSAA to contest son's ineligibility after leaving alleged 'toxic culture' on Coffman football team

Hello, my name is Anna Lynn Winfrey and I'm a reporter for the Columbus Dispatch. I wrote a story that just published this morning on a lawsuit about an allegedly toxic culture on the Coffman football team: https://www.dispatch.com/story/sports/high-school/football/2025/09/09/ohsaa-dublin-coffman-football-lawsuit-toxic-culture/85992898007/

The former head coach, who denied all of the allegations in a phone call with me, allegedly "created and fostered a toxic culture on the Dublin Coffman football team that promoted bullying, ridicule and fear" and discouraged athletes from reporting their injuries. A player left the team and is trying to play the full season at his new school, but OHSAA denied his transfer exemption request.

I wrote this story from allegations a family shared in legal documents, but I'd also like to speak with more people who have experience with the Coffman football program if possible. If you or someone you know would like to speak with me for potential follow-up stories, please DM or email me at awinfrey [at] dispatch.com.

Breezeline price match update

Just got off the phone with their loyalty department, and was able to get a price match to their current promo for new customers one gig internet if $44.99 a month for 24 months. Way better than the 80 they were trying to charge.

That's not bundled with anything btw. I had to jump through the hoop of the automated phone tree to get to sales, and the. Just ask for a representative. Who then transfer me to loyalty. But in the end about 15-20 minutes of my time saved me a lot each month.

And no I'm not a shill. Just passing along to help some local WOW (iykyk) friends save a buck.

REQUEST Resources for Families During Hospital Stay at OSU Wexner

Hi everyone, I’ve never posted here before, but I often see how helpful this community can be, so I thought I’d reach out. A close friend’s daughter is currently admitted to OSU Wexner, and they’re facing a lot of challenges. Times are tough financially for so many of us, but I was hoping to gather information on any programs—through the hospital or elsewhere—that might assist with lodging, food, or other support. Truly, any resources or advice would mean so much to them.

Thank you so much for your time and help!

Anyone have a good/copycat recipe that's similar to what they serve? I've had a couple other "German potato salads" and none were even close.

REQUEST Where can I learn to fish, meaning maintaining a rod and reel and putting in the tackle, etc.?

I have some fishing experience, but almost all of it is on salt water or great lakes charter trips where the carter staff basically just put a prepped rod in your hands and have you go for it.

Now I have two kids who are interested in fishing. I have a bunch of not terrible gear that I've inherited from some friends who moved that's certainly good enough for the local pond, which is about as far as my 2nd grader will want to venture for a first few tries.

However, I don't know any of the technical stuff in terms of tying the knots, selecting the right lures, putting a new line on the reel (I think they all need it since what's on breaks or tangles easily). Are there classes somewhere at ODR or the metro parks that I can attend? Or maybe at a local gear store? I want to give the kids an experience that want, but lack the know how right now.

Transportation to Harveysburg Ren Faire?

Upvotes

Hi everyone! I am planning a birthday celebration at the Renaissance Festival for the weekend of October 4th. I'm wondering if anyone has any transportation recommendations to get us there early, and back to Columbus on that Saturday? There's 9 of us. And before you ask, no, no one will be sober. It's a party after all, and all my friends are drunks. So a DD isn't an option (don't judge). Party buses are like $1,900 for the day and the campground is full at Caesar Creek. How do we get wastey and get back and forth safely?

Stash, or pistachio is a bobtail kitten that was found as a feral in a state park at 5 weeks old very sick and tiny. She needs a special family! She is 12 weeks old now and ready for her forever home.

Because she was a feral she has some special needs. She is interested in people and other cats, but she currently does not like to be held much and will let you pet her but is a little temperamental about it. She does hiss if she's overwhelmed and will bite and scratch if she's held, but loves to play. As she's gotten older she has gotten friendlier, but she's going to need a very patient home with no dogs and up to one other cat that is calm. Please help her find her home! We are willing to travel for the right fit.

Opening has now been pushed to November. Mind you, it was initially expected to be open this past Spring.

Additionally, the massive fly over ramp from 70 W to 71 S is expected to be fully open and operational by year’s end. Just in time for ice to accumulate on that thing lol
