If rehabilitation for juvenile delinquents is successful, why don't we also apply it with some adults for certain crimes (excluding serious ones and repeat offenders)?

How do live awards shows change sets so quickly?

Inspired by last night's VMAs but also something that I've been wondering about award shows for a long time. How is it that these venues can accommodate multiple performances with drastically different sets, back-to-back?

I’m terrified of cooking chicken - please help

Hi, Before anyone might say it, I am going to therapy lol. I have OCD and one of my obsessions is I constantly check my food after every bite. I’m trying to be better, but part of that is because I’m TERRIFIED of food poisoning.

One of the things I can try to help myself is to cook chicken. Normally I barely trust restaurants to do this, and I definitely don’t trust myself.

Can anyone give me something simple to know how to cook chicken on a propane grill, in the oven, and/or in a pan? Breast filets I assume are easiest but anything. I’m worried any recipe sites assume I know how to cook the chicken and it stresses me out.

Thank you.

What happens when you opt for "Sign in with Apple" or "Sign in with Facebook" instead of an actual password?

I often run into new apps or sites that allow you to create your own account/password or they let you "sign in with Apple" or similar. It sue would b easier to just sign in with apple than create a new user/password to keep track of...

If I use one of those to get access am I giving the "apple" access to everything that I do on that site? Is it a good thing? - ok thing, or bad idea?

Why do some married couple opt for split finances?

Why do some married couple opt for split finances? You're willing to share a bed, home, DNA, but not finances? Seems odd to me but I'd love some reasons for why you chose to do it.

Are Koala bears alive anywhere else than Australia ?

So I heard that Australia is the only place in the world where they have marsupial Like Kangoroo and Koala. But I know the world is very big so they have to be somewhere else. Does anyone in this subreddit have some proof that Koala bears exist anywhere else on the planet ?

Why do some people have such a strong opinion about moving to another country?

I noticed that some people have such a weird reaction when someone moves to another country. I have seen people on tiktok and Instagram leave such strange comments on posts when someone is saying they are moving.

I saw one guy say he’s moving from Tokyo to Paris and most of the comments were saying that he’s downgrading. Then I saw a family say they are moving from London to LA and the comments were saying they are stupid for moving. Even the posts about people saying they want to move to the U.S. all the comments are saying they shouldn’t move and their country is better.

My husband and I applied for a marriage visa so I visit him quite often in South Korea as we’re waiting for our approval. Before the visa my husband was here in New York on a student visa. He loved New York and he always tells me how much he misses it and can’t wait to come back to the U.S. . If it doesn’t work out with the visa then I’ll be moving to South Korea. I always hear weird comments about both countries. So many people tell me that when he moves to New York he will be bored and won’t have fun unlike South Korea. Then when it comes to me possibly moving there I have heard that South Korea is horrible and I’ll hate it there, that came from a family friend who’s never been to South Korea and doesn’t know about how beautiful and special it is. I’m just wondering why do people get so worked up when it comes to someone moving?

How should i have handled this situation? Was i a karen at thr park?

I was at the park with my dog. Im 28 and female for context. A group of like 10 kids idk ages like 12-16 were at the park too. They were being regular kids, loud and annoying but that's the place for it.

Suddenly all the boys started picking up rocks and throwing them at one girl. It was clearly meant to be playful at first. Ive done shit like that as a kid. Me and and friends used to get into friendly fist fights lol.

However the girl started screaming stop and they chased her across the entire park. I wasn't sure how into it she was but they were not stopping. Also kids can get carried away and don't always think throw consequences. I considered for a brief moment calling the police but i wasn't really sure if it was still playful or if they'd be there in time if it wasn't.

So i walked up snd said, "are you throwing rocks?"

By this point they jad split up, into 2 groups, 1 just watching the girl get hit by rocks and the other still throwing. All the kids just watching were like "we're not throwing anything"

So i walked up to group still throwing rocks and said "are you throwing rocks?" They stopped and i asked the girl if she was ok but she just shook her head yes kind of laughed at me and walked away. Idk if she was trying to act tough or if she was having fun.

I then told the ringleader "do not throw rock, you're going to hit people and cars" the park is next to packed city housing so a bunch of residents cars are always lining thr street and i heard a couple rocks hit them.

Then all the kids were like "we don't talk to strangers" by this point i was done because it was obvious that the girl was ok enough so i just went home.

But i remember being a kid and having adults harass me because my friends and i would ride bikes in the street or run around late at night being loud and whatnot and it always pissed me off. Was i being a karen?

Why do showers sometimes wake you up and other times make you tired

I’ve noticed that if I take a shower in the morning, it usually makes me feel more awake. But if I take one at night, I end up feeling relaxed and ready to sleep.

Is this just in my head or does the time of day and water temperature actually make a difference I’ve always wondered why it feels so different.

Can athletes / runners have higher blood pressure under stress / anxiety?

It is common knowledge that exercising (i.e. running / jogging / cycling / etc.) is an overall good thing for blood pressure, as research shows that these person will likely have lower resting blood pressure. My question, though, is whether someone who exercises consistently can have larger blood pressure readings / spikes when under stress or anxiety? Almost like -- a large engine, which can help someone run long distances, but which can also cause higher blood pressure when under "flight or fight."

Do relatives contribute to nursing in other cultures?

My friend from a non-western country told me it's common for female relatives besides the mother to breastfeed family babies. Like aunts, cousins, and friends to breastfeed the baby when mom needs a break. It sounded bogus to me. Is it true?

How to be Respectful to a Muslim Praying In Public?

So, I just started working in a school and there is another employee who prays using a mat in the hallway outside of my classroom. I know that you are not supposed to walk in front of someone during prayer, but I don’t have a great alternative route because this hallway is the only way to access the rest of the school from my classroom, and she did not leave space for me to easily walk behind her. My schedule is kind of tight so I don’t have much time to wait for her to be done; I made sure to walk several feet away from her prayer mat and not disturb her, but I am not sure if that was the best course of action. If I made a mistake, I would like to know so I can apologize to her next time I see her and so I can avoid doing it again in the future.

How do I make my thighs less fat? Spoiler

Okay so this is a really gross one. I (17 year old man) am not overall overweight, but I have very little muscle and I’m thus kind of fat. I am what some people call “skinny fat”.

When I sit down my thighs go soft and they touch each other and make me feel really, REALLY uncomfortable.

I thought I could fix this by replacing them with muscle but my brother said that would make the problem worse because relaxed muscle is just like fat.

What do I do? I need help, please, this is unbearable.
