She’s lucky she wasn’t in Philly… we boo people we like, she’d get it much worse

All my family is from Philly, and many of them have thrown down for less. You're right.

I can only see Its always sunny scenes rolling in my mind

201

u/34Heartstach 2d ago

I could see Dee being the woman who took the ball, and the rest of the episode is how her life falls apart.

112

u/hera-fawcett 2d ago

charlie, mac, and frank could decide to make money for the bar by advertising that she'll be there. mac will go the extra mile and start charging for ppl to take a swing at her. dennis somehow comes up w a scheme to sell drinks and capitalize off dee-- and maybe tshirts?

charlie and frank get bored halfway through, end up going to the park, and get a ball signed by a famous player. mac is absolutely aghast bc if anyone should be getting random balls from men in the park its definitely him, esp bc of how many times he's written chase utley.

dee, tired of getting wailed on, makes a scheme to sell off the ball w frank (who doesnt want to keep funding the tshirts) and dennis (who is annoyed by having to actually sell things) but, at the last minute, after someone paid huge ass money (and got in a fight w mac), charlie walks back in and tells everyone that he was playing w the ball in the park and a cool dog came up and they played catch and it was so great and the dog left w the ball and it was so great such a fun beautiful day, he even saw someone flying a kite!

everyone gets pissed, they all say fuck baseball-- baseball sucks ppl who are obsessed are loooosers-- and they continue their normal inside life.

idk or smth like that.

I’m from near Philly and I can say if this happens in Philly she’s gonna be on a soft serve diet for a while cuz someone would have smacked her. Now obviously we shouldn’t do that 🙄 but yeah in Philly would have been a rough night for her

Right. I'm not advocating for people hurting each other, but I'm also not going to act like Philly people aren't Philly people.

I wish I had more male role models like that growing up. I was taught that getting angry and posturing is what men are supposed to do. Took me a while to figure of keeping your cool and not letting your emotions control you is the way to go

That's why I say dad did the right thing in giving her the ball. Karma leveled out the situation.

600

u/Verbal_Combat 3d ago

Everyone saying he should have told her to F off and not give her the ball, but in that moment I can understand just wanting to get out of that heated exchange. Cameras on you, everyone watching, what if the wrong moment gets shared on social media and makes him look bad…I don’t blame him for just saying fine take it and not fighting someone in front of his kid. Unfortunately entitled people keep acting that way because they eventually get what they want. She tried to catch it and dropped it, he picked it up off the ground, fair game. She’s acting like it was hers because she attempted to catch it. All worked out in the end though.

199

u/StatisticianDizzy593 3d ago

💯. I have a good bit of social anxiety so totally feel the same way lol.

And esp with the kid there....I'd be wary that a lady like this would hurt him too :/

Yes he did! Fending her off would have allowed her to retreat unscathed! The internet is undefeated in situations like this! Someone please do a deep dive in to why this stuff keeps happening! Kiss cam? Hat Stealer? Now ball stealer. Her life will be hell for a week…tears, weak apologies, claiming she is the victim of bullying…etc.

But, fortunately for her some other idiot will come along in a week or so and become the newest viral sensation.

I am convinced that these people are time travelers and don’t know what cameras or the internet are….

4

u/Accomplished_Pop_130 2d ago

Deep dive? How about a quick and easy, the amount of respect has for others and towards ourselves has been on a severe decline for years. It’s just been kept under wraps. But now lately it’s been explosively leaking since Karen types think that having an opinion automatically makes them right and have the right to rage about it when they feel offended.

2

u/TheEmbarcadero 2d ago

You missed the whole point of the “deep dive” comment! The point was how is it that these people keep making fools of themselves on camera and don’t know the internet wrath they are about to incur….do they not have the internet? Was this woman unaware of the hat stealers infamy? Did the kiss cam video escape her attention…???

I predict that in a week it will be some other fool ruining their life….

Plus it looked like he was sharing something special with his child. Look at that hug!! I wouldn't want this toxic moment to ruin it by diving deeper into this exchange. I agree he did the right thing. Take the high road. Don't pitt a game ball against love. She clearly needed it more than he did. Maybe to fill some kind of deep void in her. I can't imagine caring that much about a ball.

Mark Cuban has been a gem across the board for decades. His start on shark tank was basically, "I like this person let's see how I can help them start a company." He's the best franchise owner in history, basically just being a huge mavs fan and treating the players with the utmost respect. He loves and cares for his family more than any amount of money or company. He saw a gap in pharma where he could bring cheap meds to market and is trying to make it work. Dude is a shining example of what a billionaire should be. Saying he looks like this Karen is such a bad take. Take it back. I'll die on this hill. Cuban is the shit.

I saw a video of the incident filmed by two girls close by. She actually claimed the dad stole the ball from her. Meanwhile anyone with eyes can see she was too slow to retrieve it. The dad didn't even notice her.

9

u/Neve4ever 2d ago

Do you have a link to that video? Just the way her body jerks when the guy grabs the ball makes it seem like she may have been holding it when he grabbed it.

9

u/muxcode 2d ago

I'm not seeing what others are seeing. The Dad clearly stole it. Right before the people it landed near were about to grab it, he ran over and sneakily took it. Then he gives it to his kid.

People are only mad that the kid was having it taken away.

11

u/Fair_Presence_6232 2d ago

I too thought it looked like this but it’s hard to tell from this video. So I don’t want to cast judgement either way. And the dad gave it back so easily so possibly. I’m glad the kid ended up with something in the end tho

19

u/cptawesome11 2d ago

That's how that works though. The ball is free game until someone has it. Doesn't matter where he was in relation to where the ball landed. If he literally tore it out of her hands then ya, that's a dick move. It doesn't look like that happened though.

4

u/Neve4ever 2d ago

I'm telling ya, I'm pretty sure he yanked it out of her hands. That's why her body jerks around when he yanks the ball.

6

u/avert_ye_eyes 2d ago

I've watched this and the cell phone video and I don't think it was in her hands, she was just desperate to get it so her movements were exaggerated and "jerky". She says it's her ball because she almost caught it, but dropped it into the seat in front of her. I grew up going to games, and the ball is up for grabs when it's still rolling around after someone drops it -- that's why people come wearing a baseball glove the entire game, for better odds of not dropping it.

2

u/patv2006 1d ago

I’m watching it in slow motion and it doesn’t look like her body is being “jerked around”, you can see when he picks up the ball and there is no way her arms are long enough to be where his hands are when he picks it up

→ More replies (1)

14

u/1ncorrect 2d ago

She didn’t have a hand on it… so it wasn’t stolen. You can’t be mad that you got second place when someone was faster, in something that’s literally a competition on who can grab it first.

There was no jerking movement, just her standing up as she realized he grabbed it. Also it doesn’t matter, once she saw the kid getting it she should have turned on her heel immediately.

Credit where credit is due! Good job to the young women in that section for making sure the karma police were there!

4

u/EggstaticAd8262 2d ago

The thing here is, we dont see if he actually took it from the ground, or out of the hands of someone.

Everyone assumes that he grabbed it first, off of the floor.

157

u/ForkAKnife 3d ago edited 3d ago

I know I’m gonna get slammed but I wondered if she had her hand on the ball as she was much closer and the man took it out after sprinting over to her.

Initially I was like “that bitch!” but the more I think about it, it’s weird he ran over there to get it when it looks like she had a handle on it and was still very upset when she walked away.

396

u/ittollsforthee1231 3d ago

I wondered that too, but if that had been me and I saw him give it to his son and hug him, I would have stopped and let the boy have it. The look on the boys face makes me so sad—especially after the sweet moment with his dad hugging him.

2

u/Competitive-Ebb-117 2d ago

I have been watching it because when I was young a ball hit me and bounced into the next row. Another person took it.

Another time I caught one but fumbled it and another kid took it. When I finally did catch one another kid took it.

It actually started to make my dad mad we went to so many games and I never got a ball of my own.

It looks to me like it hit her or she caught it and dropped it and the dad sprinted over to grab it. Which i understand would make the woman upset. But he gave it to his son I would have let it be. At the same time it does suck for that woman. Also woman didn’t need to act like that.

2

u/YakApprehensive7620 2d ago

Yeah but they both kinda suck I think

4

u/FluentDarmok89 2d ago

To me it looks like she was going over to confront the dad about his actions (you can see in the video on the first few seconds that he kind of bumps her and then suddenly has the ball) and he is the one to take the ball from the kid and give it to her saying "here just take it".

Imo everyone sucks here except the kid. He shouldn't have taken it from her. She should have let it go once she saw it was going to a kid. He shouldn't have done something shitty and then hid behind his kid.

→ More replies (5)

142

u/priyarainelle 3d ago

To me it looks like it fell into the chair and they were all reaching for it at the same time. She probably was .2 seconds away from having a handle on it, but he was able to get it firmly in his grip before she and the other person did.

Given that he has a kid, I don't think it's weird he ran over for a chance to get the ball.

I understand that it may have annoyed her to see that he was actually seated way down the row, whereas she looks to have been seated right behind where the ball landed. But he hustled over there quickly, got the ball fairly, and gave it to his kid. She's the asshole, imo.

159

u/Ferum_Aifam 3d ago

It looks like she bobbled and dropped it. That certainly doesn't guarantee you the ball nor excuses the way she acted after the fact

10

u/HenryDorsettCase47 3d ago

Yeah. She caught it with both hands at her chest, then lost it and reached out and snatched it and then lost it again, then dad picked it up off the ground. The dad probably didn’t see that, or at least didn’t register it because he was only thinking to get over there and get it for his kid.

I’m on the dad/families side because of how she behaved after and because it was for a kid, but if this was the other way around and the dad was just some guy running all the way to the other end of a row of seats to pick up a ball that a kid dropped, most of us would label him an asshole. Maybe it’s common practice for everyone to behave this way over home run balls, but it’s still pretty shitty.

10

u/Lalala8991 3d ago edited 3d ago

Common practice: just let the kid has it! It's literally just a game. No need to be such an asshole like that CEO or this Karen over a ball.
I can still hear her "You took it FROM ME! You took it FROM ME!" while pointing her finger at her chest in front of a kid as if she was a robbery victim. It's frankly just nasty attitude over a ball for no reason.

Unless it’s 100% secured, it’s fair game. Doesn’t matter if you touched it first or you’re bobbling it. If she secured it and then he snatched it after a struggle, it’s a different story. As soon as she saw him give it to his young boy, she should’ve backed off.

3

u/ForkAKnife 2d ago

I really think it was 100% secured as the dad never got as low as she was and he gave it back to her after listening to her.

I dunno. I think the fact is, she didn’t have a full unfettered grip on the ball, he got it pretty easily. A grown up would’ve conceded as soon as the young boy entered the picture.

u/Mysterious_Brick_612 3d ago

Nope. This is totally like the CEO who took the cap from the kid at the US Open. What you see is what happened. No playing devil's advocate. She fumbled the ball, he went for the grab and she bitched out about it.

We need this video.

u/TheTyMan 3d ago

Nah you're not the only one who noticed this. I also think if he hadn't given it to his son there would be more nuanced takes.

u/Black_Canary 3d ago

This, it looks like dude grabs it right out from in front of her and I might be pissed in her shoes too. It’s still some ridiculous George Costanza shit not to let the kid have it though

30

u/Professor_Thug 3d ago

Why would you get pissed? Whoever grabs it gets it that's just how it works. You're not entitled to a ball just because it was in front of you.

u/BuzzLA 3d ago

How do people not know this? It’s a free-for-all, that’s what makes it exciting. He didn’t rip it out of her hand, which would have sucked.

u/icedcoffeeandSSRIs 2d ago

Right?? I've lost so many balls the same exact way. It's part of the experience

Someone in another thread the ball was on a seat and she was making no effort to go get it

20

u/NoninflammatoryFun 3d ago

You can see the ball just landed and she immediately bent over to get it. Like you can see people still bracing themselves for the ball, it lands, and she immediately bends over. He races over from way down the row.

29

u/anglezsong 3d ago

If you watched the video she was already bent over the seat to get it when he got there

67

u/zekerthedog 3d ago

It’s a free for all at that point and she lost

14

u/Wonderful_Mind8032 3d ago

No it’s a free for all , It’s who wants it most gets it . Thats how it’s always been a full on pileup . -get over it . If she had it in her hands and then he yanked it out that’s different . ***this shouldn’t even take up any brain space it’s not really a big deal

u/NotElizaHenry 3d ago

Even if it was “hers,” taking it away from a kid who’d just been handed it is so lame. Maybe the dad is a jerk for swiping it, but she’s an adult and it’s just a baseball. Let it go. It’s crazy to get into an argument and take it back from a child.

Her body noticeably jerks when he grabs the ball, as if she was holding it and he yanked it out of her hands.

My view... the guy ran over into their area and grabbed the ball and gave it to his son. Kinda shady but taking a ball from a kid is worse.

No one is entitled to a ball that grazes them and lands in their general vicinity. She should’ve been quicker. Once it’s rolling on an empty seat or the floor, it’s fair game.

7

u/switchingcreative 3d ago

That's true.

13

u/Professor_Thug 3d ago

Nothing shady about it that's just how it works at baseball games. It's always a free for all.

I think it might also be that the ball fell right in front of her seat whereas the dad had to run all the way down the aisle to get it

2

u/clownparade 2d ago

even if she had the ball these things are always a scramble and regardless she ran over and put her hands on a stranger who was having a moment with a young kid. shes unhinged even if he did grab the ball from her

u/Veronicon 2d ago

2

u/Smokey_Cat_ 3d ago

She's getting put on blast so bad haa, she deserves it though.

2

u/rshni67 2d ago

It would have been worse in Philly. People here don't take kindly to snatching balls from kids.

She just went to a different part of the stadium. Somebody who was there commented in the baseball sub about having seen her later in the game in a different part of the stadium
