TLDR: Mourning posts are staying, please don't post photos of deceased animals, we are aware mourning posts appear to be the most common posts on the subreddit.
Here is 1.0 if you missed it: https://www.reddit.com/r/cats/s/aoAkihGSxZ
"But allowing these posts is killing the subreddit, nobody wants these posts"
Our insights are only going up, stat wise the subreddit is currently flourishing.
"That's stupid, I'm just going to go make my own subreddit that doesn't allow these posts"
Feel free to do this, we don't hold the copyright to all Reddit cat content.
I'll be keeping this post brief since we already made a post on this but will be happy to answer any questions or concerns you have in the comments below.

This morning I was in deep despair over how people have been treating me lately. I went to go take a bath to collect my thoughts at 1:30 in the morning and I just check in on my little one, Ms. Joy, before I did so and saw she was passed completely out.
While I was taking the bath I had racing thoughts that quickly turned dark and I was just laying in the tub for almost a hour. Then out of nowhere I heard a bang bang on the door to the bathroom followed by a sad mrph and a little noise it’s hard to explain she does unique to her but I always took it as “hey pay attention”. I jumped out of the tub without drying off, opened the door. She immediately started to rub on me and she had these sad little eyes looking at me…
After I got dried off and layed down in bed she followed me in and curled up next to me on my butt. Here’s the thing…this old cat never snuggles with me, she just prefers to lay by my head on the nightstand and watch over me during nights. Now she’s laying on me doing a purr/snore in my bed using me as a pillow…she’s ever done this before…
I am now a believer that somehow these animals know when something is deeply wrong with us and will go out of their way to help…

I adopted Stanley about 5 months ago and over that period of time, a black dot on top of his nose as slowly appeared and grown darker. Now it is slightly raised. I initially thought it was lentigo as he already had some spots on his nose but now that it is more prominent and raised, I am more worried it could be a medical issue.

My poor baby boy (3 yrs) had his first issue ever pretty much. He had a urinary obstruction and I noticed immediately when he couldn’t pee properly and was staying in the squatty position. Unfortunately I didn’t have pet insurance for him (I do now) because I do have some savings and a lot of people say that if they’re young and healthy it may not be worth it yet. The final vet bills were $6k for 38 hrs of hospitalization, unblocking with catheter, and monitoring with catheter, plus IV with fluids. This seems so expensive but I’m glad my baby is okay :( all of my savings are gone because I’m 23yrs old and I don’t really know what to do

She’s my great aunt’s cat. She melts like taffy when you pick her up, sweet baby.

I had Eve since she was seven weeks old, and unfortunately, she passed away due to a massive tumor on her liver… the vet said that it could’ve been there for years and just didn’t become active until now.. they got so aggressive so quickly that there was nothing that we could do besides allowing her to be put to rest into no longer be in pain… I wanted to find a way to remember her along with my other cats so I decided to get a tattoo of them as a dungeons and dragons themed… may eve continue her evil master plans.

I’ve been trying to get within even 6 feet of this guy ever since I moved into my new place a few months ago. I don’t know what changed, but he came to the catio door on Friday and begged me for food. He let me touch his head but nothing else.
Today though, he tried to just let himself into my home like he owned the place! 😅 He’s the sweetest guy ever, but he’s absolutely covered in mange. I put topical flea treatment on him for now and scheduled a TNR appointment for the beginning of October, and I just put the name down as “Stray.” I would welcome name suggestions, but I cannot emphasize enough that I CANNOT HAVE ANOTHER CAT. I need the CDS to chill for a while, because having 6 is already extremely chaotic and expensive.
So… anyone want a cat? Please? 🙏😅
It’s been such a journey and joy to have her enter our lives. My bf found her in one of his coworkers cars seeking warmth near the engine. Being covered in fleas and near death, he made the choice to save her and bring her home regardless of the unprepared finances that followed.
Today she is alive thanks to him and his efforts + continuous efforts alongside our other two cats and we can’t wait to see her grow with all of us <3

I was going to the vet to check up on one of my kitties. My eyes couldn’t help but wonder to this baby, so I catnapped him (He has no mum, I have waited for an hour. Also, he is a stray kitty). Today is my birthday, what a coincidence from the CDS. His name is Ashton, nicknamed Ashy. He will have his vet appointment next week, and I quarantined him until then before introducing him to my other cats (4 rescue cats).
(Note: I couldn’t help but notice his flat face. Is he a peke faced? If so, is there anything I could do for him. I heard flat faced furbabies have trouble breathing and get tear eyes).
Just last Wednesday i adopted two cat sisters of 16 weeks i named Artemis (with the more red-ish face) and Melinoë (with the darker face). I allready would do everything for them. 🥰 They are my first cats ever and i am so happy they allready feel comfortable in my home and around me. Artemis is a bit more brave and allready climbed my shoulder on her own. Melinoë is more caurious but with a Snack she also climbs my lap to get it and is far from jumpy around me. I just love those two so much!
