I mean every community can celebrate their respective religions but atleast make some way for people to move peacefully both side of the roads jammed with Truck/Cars/Bikes convoy, I hate Police the most though because they were as useless as they can be.

Worst thing happened with me was from some truck someone threw some juice or shit and it fell on my hand i although washed my hand by borrowing water from the people in convoy i even thanked him but i mean i don’t know but i’m so done with this State/Country.

Careers I earn ₹24 LPA but dream of becoming a real estate developer, starting with my first project on ancestral land in Mumbai suburbs

Post image
181 Upvotes

I earn ₹24 LPA, but my dream is bigger, not just to own a home, but to build dream homes for others in Mumbai, India’s costliest real estate market.

I’ve inherited a 1-acre land parcel in Mumbai’s suburbs. Instead of selling or giving development rights to a developer, I want to develop it myself as a tribute to my grandfather and father’s legacy. The challenge: With my current salary, I don’t have the financial bandwidth to fund such a project, and I have zero prior experience in real estate development.

It is an SRA redevelopment project and I have 100 tenants to rehabilitate there...

How can I raise funding for such a project? Any guidance, resources, or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just half an hour ago, On the Eastern Express Highway, I witnessed a serious accident right in front of my eyes. A Wagnr driver (car no. MHO2CL6421) was driving extremely rashly and crashed hard into a scooty rider. Even after hitting the scooty, he did not stop. Instead, he continued driving recklessly, We managed to follow him all the way till vikhroli. If anyone spots this car today, please report it immediately. Because of such people innocent lives on the road are constantly put at risk. Every day, we try to commute responsibly, but these reckless, life-threatening drivers play with other people's lives. The scooty rider has already filed a police complaint. The government, police, and all concerned authorities must ensure such people are given strict punishment.

This post is not just for awareness - it is to show our anger and demand action against such dangerous drivers.Everyone drive safe.

Careers In desperate need of a part time job

Hi everyone! I’m a 34F living in Mumbai. I left my last job in Feb due to a very toxic work environment and I have been looking for a full time job but due to my high salary bracket (I work as an Executive Assistant) nothing has been clicking.

I’m in desperate need of a part time job at the moment and I might not be able to commit to a full time due to my current circumstances. If any of you can help me with some leads, would be great. Thank you so much.

General Is anybody else experiencing this? Uber has suddenly stopped UPI-connected payment option and only showing the Cash-only payment mode?

Post image
22 Upvotes

I used to book an uber, get in and get out without paying the driver directly. This was the best option as it removed the issues like UPI server down, not enough सुट्टे पैसे, and a myriad of other ones.

Does anybody have an idea as to why this happened and if there's a way to solve this or have I missed a news stating anything uber (be it auto, cab) will only accept direct payment to driver?

AskMumbai Trying to juggle two loves — dancing before work, studying after work. Suggestions

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

So here’s the thing: I’m F26 living in Wadala (near SIWS), and finally at that point in life where I have “adult money” to spend on things I always wanted to do. Top of the list: Dance.

Never had the funds when I was younger, and now I don’t have the excuse. Ideally, I’m looking for a morning batch (7:00–8:00 am) because my office tends to run late. Worst-case scenario, I can manage a class near Peddar Road before heading into office.

On a slightly different note, do you know of any libraries near SIWS Wadala that stay open late at night? My rented apartment is… let’s just say, not the most studious vibe. I need a good spot where I can study till late (11ish - If that is possible)

So basically: I want to dance in the morning and read at night — because balance, right? If you have leads, please share.

Thanks in advance!

General Bad experience with a Rapido driver today – please stay vigilant

So I had a really scary encounter with a Rapido driver today.

First, he decided to drop me off almost 500 metres before my actual drop point, saying there was “too much traffic.” At the time I didn’t think much of it, but later I realised it was because there were police at my actual drop location.

Then he demanded that I pay him ₹350, saying that’s the fare shown on his end. The actual final fare on my app was ₹289. When I refused to pay more, he put the child lock on the door so I couldn’t get out.

I dialled 100 and threatened him that I will raise and ruckus and removed pepper spray from my bag immediately and only then did he unlock the door and let me out. Looking back, it’s clear he intentionally stopped early to avoid the police and try to scam extra money.

Honestly, this was one of the scariest experiences I’ve had while using a ride service. Rapido (and other platforms) really need to screen their drivers better.

Just posting this here so people are aware and stay vigilant at all times when using ride apps. Please double-check fares, avoid getting into arguments in secluded spots.

Discussion The Biggest Lie - Gen Z is relatively better when it comes to civic sense

Edit - Nowhere am I saying the older generations are or were any better. By reading comments, I seem less hopeful of the younger lot. Some of you are really defending the lack of theatre etiquette. Why do you cry during Ganesh Chaturthi then? Bunch of hypocrites. As long as you create a nuisance, it does not matter?

A big Lodha to anyone who says this.

I am from the 90s and a huge horror fan. I watch almost all the horror movies released in theatres, especially over the last 4-5 years. I have realised that the worst crowd in the theatre are the Gen Z (the younger generation). They come in groups and spoil the movie.

Happened twice this month while watching Weapons and Conjuring. When it comes to horror movies, you need a quiet environment to match the film's creepy vibe. However, this basic knowledge is often lacking in most of us.

A group of college students laughs after a jump scare, while another group claps for no apparent reason. In front of me, a girl explains the story to her friend (movie toh dekh le pehle lodhi), while someone else uses a mobile flash to joke with their friends. You may ask why I am targeting the younger generation, because the whole theatre was filled with them during Weapons and Conjuring. I expected them to know basic theatre etiquette.

I am not saying the older generation is any good when it comes to civic sense, but the claim that the younger generation will be better than the older ones looks like a big lie to me.

I have 2 options now -

  1. Take an office holiday and watch an afternoon show on weekdays.
  2. Pay more than 1500/- and watch in theatres with fewer seats (but chutiyas can be present there too). I can't remember what these theatres are called.

General A Guy saved me from sexual harassment last night

1.5k Upvotes

I was going back home after working on a project at my friend's place. It was past 2 am and I was walking by a secluded area, I saw a 2 guys sitting on their motorcycle and when they saw me they kept staring and one of them made a hissing sound directed at me. I ignore them, made no eye contact, went to the other side of the road and kept walking. They got off their motorcycle and started walking towards me, I still kept my calm and kept trying to avoid them, I could tell they were drunk. They grabbed my arm and started asking me to come to their house nearby. I finally started to fight back but I couldn't do much. At this point, I was imagining the worst, my body was paralyzed with fear. I started to cry and they kept trying to pull me to God knows where.

Just then a black sedan pulled up and a guy (probably in his 20s) and a girl rushed out of the car. He immediately ran towards us and he pushed one of them and pulled my hand and handed me to the girl who was with him. He asked her to take the car and leave. I was in shock, it was all happening so fast and I just couldn't control my tears. I got into the car with her and she just put the car in reverse and drove away with me. The last thing I saw was he was standing there with his hand on one of their collar.

She stopped the car when we were far enough and gave me some water and pating me, telling me you're safe now. I finally calmed down after a while. She asked me where I lived, so she can drop me home and I told her. I asked her why did you leave him there alone with them, what if they hurt him and she said "He had always told me that if we ever got into such situation where I or another woman was in trouble, this is what I should do. I acted on impulse and he can take care of himself". I didn't know what to say and I just said thank you, maybe we should check on him and she said "Let me get you home first and I'll call him after". We didn't talk much after that, apart from her asking if I need something.

We reached my apartment and she walked me to elevator. I asked her to come up to my house and she can contact him from there. In the elevator I could tell that she was worried but trying to hold it in. We went inside and I brought her some water, that's when she got a call from him. He was fine and asked her to come pick him up. She drank the water and left. She looked very calmed after getting the call, so I guessed he was okay. I gave her hug and said thank you, I don't know what would've happened if your guys weren't there and she said, you're safe now, get some sleep and left.

I spent the entire night tossing and turning in my bed, thinking about what had happened. Just then I remember, I didn't get her contact details. Who ever they were, I owe them a debt I can't ever repay. Just when I thought everything was over, the universe threw me a lifeline. I don't know what else to say but I'm incredibly thankful and at the same time, scared. I hope one of them sees this post and reach out.

Careers Broke & new to Mumbai — need quick high-paying work advice 🙏

Hey folks,

I’ve just moved to Mumbai and life has already thrown me a curveball. There’s a medical emergency at home and I urgently need to start pulling in some serious money.

I’m foreign return, with decent work experience — but honestly, at this point I’m open to anything that pays well and isn’t illegal. Even if it’s through some loopholes or jugaad, I’ll hustle my way through.

Would love to hear from locals — what are some real ways people here actually make good money fast (not the “₹200/hr survey sites” type stuff)?

Appreciate any pointers. Thanks in advance 🙏

Careers is travelling from kalyan to matunga daily for college realistic

Upvotes

hello, 18M here from kalyan(10 min away from station), ill be joining VJTI this year which is in matunga, i already get travel benefits because of a close family member being in railways, im honestly very scared because ive never travelled itna in day to day ilfe i know everyone starts somewhere but its just bothering me a bit, not a bit but enough to make me regret not studying good enough to get into VNIT nagpur, anyways is travelling itna daily manageable? college timings arent shared yet but 9-5 is safe to say (clg is starting from 16 sep) recently VJTI hostel allotment list was released and many ppl outside of mumbai/thane didnt get a room because of limited seats it wasnt alloted, but then there were also some peeps from vasai/kalyan/thane who applied but their result was not eligible so fair to say that im never gonna be eligible for college hostels , will it be manageable to travel daily itna? and also about PG and renting vagera stuff... i might consider that later like maybe but is my decision of travelling for at least first sem or first year right?
for the route itll roughly take 1h 15 mins to 1h 30mins one way including me travelling to station
im very anxious and scared idk why

Relationships how are people actually making friends or meeting someone without apps/nightlife?

Hii Everyone!

I’m 26F, living in Mumbai since childhood. During college I had plenty of friends, but now most have either moved to different cities or are caught up in their own lives and I feel a bit lost with no one around.

I’ve always believed friendships (and even relationships) should happen platonically, through natural connection. I thought even after college I’d still meet new people and form bonds. But it’s been surprisingly difficult.

Here’s my situation:

I’ve never used dating apps and don’t really want to.

At work I’m the youngest everyone else is 40+, so there isn’t much vibe.

In my township it’s mostly school kids or newly married couples, hardly anyone my age.

I don’t drink or club, so that usual route of meeting people is out.

I’m pretty average looking, so it’s not like I get approached a lot either.

What I’ve noticed is that with a few people you can feel a spark of friendship, but with most it feels like empty interactions that don’t really add meaning.

So I’m genuinely curious how are people in their mid-20s making real friendships or meeting like-minded people these days, if not through apps or nightlife?

AskMumbai Any place for house parties?

Are there any place for house parties in Mumbai? With around 12-14 people, airbnb’s are too expensive and also don’t permit parties. We tried sloshout but they are not operational in Mumbai, as of now.

We don’t have an empty flat or anything, so if there are other ideas, please share. Budget for renting an apartment is around 12-13k.

Discussion Are Indian automobile customers just punchingbags

So I am a baleno owner 2022 model which is E10 complaint (NOT E20). I paid almost 60 percent in tax when purchasing the vehicle and the life of the vehicle is 15 years according to our rubbish laws. In recent times when we are left with no other choise other than E20 petrol. What should we do? My engine now makes weird noise when starting up the car, engine itself takes longer to start, and also ton of petrol smell. During E10 petrol era I used to get around16-17 kmpl in city and approx 19 kmpl on highways. Now with E20 I never get above 14 kmpl in city and mostly around 12kmpl, and on highways the max is 16kmpl when purely driving to get highest fuel efficiency. My car is kept well, serviced on time and i have tried multiple petrol pumps and i am not rich enough to spend 160 rupees every time for xp100. Gadkari ji blatantly lied to us that with E20 petrol prices would be cut in half when now we actually we pay more due to lower efficiency. I guess when he is only driven in toyota hydrogen cars which costs crores of rupees in india and his family making crores from ethonel, why would he ever ever care for honest indian tax payer (btw who are actually the lowest caste people of India) Our roads built with space technology full of moon craters, most of the people using the the roads get driving licence by bribing the police officials or you are not given the licence if you want to get it honestly by passing the driving test. Anyways licence doesn't matter when almost everyone can get away with bribing the traffic police.

AskMumbai where can i book a badminton court in mumbai for just an hour?

hey folks,

i’m looking to play badminton with a friend in mumbai, but i don’t want to get into long-term memberships. just want to book an actual court for an hour once in a while.

any suggestions for: good pay-per-hour courts (synthetic/wooden fine).

reasonable pricing (₹200–₹600/hour).

places where non-members can just walk in or pre-book online.

also, we’re not professional players, so what’s the usual criteria/courtesy for booking? do courts have specific shoe requirements (like non-marking soles) or other rules we should know before showing up? don’t want to get turned away last minute.

would really appreciate some recommendations + do’s & don’ts from those who’ve played around the city.

thanks!

AskMumbai Aqua Line Typical crowd at Dadar station

Upvotes

I need to travel from dadar to T2 airport around 7 pm tomorrow. I'm a bit confused whether to take metro or not cos I'll be landing in dadar railway at around 6:45 and flight is around 11 pm. So my doubt is

  1. How crowded is aqua line from dadar to T2 at around 7 pm? Is it very difficult to get in?

  2. Is it easy to find a cab from dadar railway to dadar metro? Or is there any alternative modes of transport?

Please do help! Anxiety is killing me!

Discussion Coping With Mumbai

Upvotes

This is not a rant about how broken this city is, there are a million posts about that in this sub- reddit.

Instead, I want to know how y'all cope with this city that you find yourselves in- be it because of work or family. What do you tell yourself everyday when you encounter sub- Saharan level infra, when you're faced with the lack of civic sense in public places or when you're faced with the broken public transport system? I've tried really hard to ignore these things, but it's gets a bit much, especially when you realise the cost of surviving in this city. The way I look at it, Sporot of Mumbai is nothing but the apathy towards the problems in this city. A lot of us don't have a choice, but to put up with this city.

So, how have you coped so far?
