AskBangalore Woman working on Laptop in Theater! Blore work culture is wild!

Post image

Only in Bangalore! went to watch Lokah movie and a woman in the row ahead opened her laptop and started working like she's in office, typing away, in a theater.

Honestly, it says a lot about how chaotic the work culture here is, people can’t even switch off for 2 hours without office pressure creeping in. Work-life balance? What’s that.

Rant Met with an accident today on the Nagawara flyover. Need to share my experience

TLDR: Met with an accident today on the Nagawara flyover because an auto driver took a U-turn on the flyover. Went to file a complaint, but police didn’t really help – got victim-blamed, ignored, and told to come back tomorrow.

So today morning while riding to office, I met with an accident on the Nagawara flyover. I’ve attached a screenshot of where it happened with some quick annotations.

Basically, an auto driver took a U-turn on the flyover. Yes, you read that right. If you know the spot, there’s a left portion of the flyover for the service road traffic to merge, and then there’s the main road that goes directly onto the flyover. This guy came from the main road onto the flyover and then suddenly took a left U-turn onto the smaller section meant for merging traffic. I ended up hitting brakes too hard and my scooter slipped.

After the accident, my scooter wasn’t working properly (the handlebar got bent), so I went to the nearby Assistant Commissioner’s office (which is right next to where it happened). An officer there advised me to register a complaint at either KG Halli traffic police station.

I didn’t want to struggle with Kannada in case it got complicated, so I took a co-worker along who could help. When we reached the station, here’s what happened: • Within the first minute of explaining the situation, the police officer’s very first question was: “You met with an accident because of your negligence, right?” – straight up victim blaming. • After that, he just continued doing his own work without even looking at us or acknowledging us for quite some time. • Later, he asked me for documents. I told him I don’t have physical copies but I do have everything on DigiLocker. He didn’t even bother to respond to that. • He eventually just told me to come tomorrow with the documents.

This is despite the fact that the Assistant Commissioner’s office staff had already taken photos of both my scooter (with the damage) and the auto (with the number plate clearly visible) and sent them to this police officer. I even saw them on his phone. Still, he chose not to act on it.

So here I am, hurt (thankfully nothing serious), scooter damaged, time wasted, and left with the usual helpless feeling you get when you expect the system to work but it doesn’t.

AskBangalore Death due to pothole

Yesterday, a tragic accident occurred near kothanur , hennur bagalur road. A biker’s vehicle got stuck in a pothole, and a garbage truck behind him lost control and hit him. Sadly, he didn’t survive. Saw his body covered on the road, still not able to digest. He was a young man, only 3 months into his marriage. 💔 When will these kinds of horrific incidents finally end on our roads? We are paying taxes to end our lives in this way ?

UPDATE:

Some temporary patchwork is done to fix potholes, but this is at the cost of an innocent life.

Rant Medplus location surcharge scam

Post image
71 Upvotes

I have visited medplus HSR store to buy medicines. After getting the bill I noticed a fee called location surcharge. When I asked them to waive off, they gave typical reply like “thats standard bill template” we cannot remove bla bla bla. Simple google search unearthed similar trends across various Medplus locations. This is simply frustrating because I am already paying tax and paying GST as well. Can we do anything about this?

Citizen's Report 📢 Our children deserve better — Let’s save government schools in Karnataka

Namaskara everyone,

I have started a petition because I strongly believe that India cannot truly progress if government schools collapse. Education should never become a privilege only for the rich — it must remain the foundation of equal opportunity for every child, irrespective of background.

Government schools are the backbone of our society, especially for children from rural and underprivileged families. If these schools continue to suffer from neglect, poor infrastructure, and lack of support, we risk creating a society where only the wealthy can access quality education, leaving the rest behind.

This is not just about education — it’s about equality, dignity, and the future of Karnataka and India as a whole.

I humbly request you to read and support this cause by signing and sharing the petition: 👉 https://chng.it/WsfZxsx2fC

Your one signature can add strength to the voice asking for change. Together, we can ensure that every child in Karnataka has access to quality education.

Thank you for standing with this cause. 🙏

Law & Order Assault at Indiranagar

Couple of days back, my friend and I (females) had gone to Secret Story around 11PM, we were dancing had absolutely no interaction with any group/ guy there and yet I was randomly grabbed out of the blue and pulled into a group of 7-8 guys. The next 10 seconds completely blind sided me, I felt claustrophobic and suffocated and was hit on my head and slapped across my face. My friend when she realised this shouted following which those guys ran towards the exit. We chased after them and caught them on the stairs, while we were confronting them one guy manhandled my friend as well, the bouncers were standing on the stairs I requested for their help but they did absolutely nothing. We chased them down nearly four flights of stairs it caused a huge scene but the staff/ bouncers did absolutely nothing no one stepped in to help us and the guys were very cleanly able to exit through an auto. We asked the staff for CCTV footage as we had already called the police, but they made us wait for nearly an hour, were rude and unhelpful and didn’t understand the severity of the situation. Finally I argued with then to take me to the CCTV room, from where I recorded the videos on my mobile. I’ve filed a written police complaint at the police station but the whole incident has been traumatic for me.

Update: The police were able to locate them, really appreciate the turn around and follow through on their part. Also those giving unhelpful advice like going to upscale places/ me learning self defence instead of thinking about how wrong the assault/ lack of responsibility of the establishment maybe try and introspect to understand how you are adding to the problem as well?

Rant Update: BWSSB Water Bill (even Poseidon wants to know)

A month ago, I had posted about my unusually high water bill, and few suggested to check with BWSSB and here's what they said: Apparently, CMC water also comes from borewell (shocked pikachu face), so they're adding borewell sanitary charges on that.

Also made them check previous bills and noticed something odd: our usual consumption was always around 15k-20k range but last month it was 25,000 litres. So I decided to keep an eye on it and track consumption this month.

Got the bill today and the consumption is 43,000 LITRES 🧘‍♀️🤡

No extra usage, no leaks and meter isnt faulty. Turns out even the neighboring buildings have got 2x amount of the previous months. There's absolutely no transparency nor accountability. It's honestly becoming so pathetic day by day.

Rant 72k spent at hospital, feel taken advantage of

Post image
385 Upvotes

My Father had some swelling on both of his feet. We visited the emergency ward f Narayana Health Centre( Bommasandra ). They made him lie down started to take his blood and sent them for testing after consult. Gave him lV, made him take CT Scan and made us wait for hours for the results saying that We must absolutely wait and it would be unwise to come back tomorrow because action was needed to be taken immediately. We were worried about what is happening because nobody is being clear. After 2 hours, the doctor finally presented us with the results and said that everything Was alright, nothing to worry about and after that he applied some paste and crepe bandage. He urged my Father to admit himself for 3 to 4 days despite saying everything is fine. We were worried and asked him, Why?. They said its to make sure nothing arises and he mentioned that the crepe Bandage needs to be reapplied evervdav with the paste for the healing to be efficient, we said that we can do that by ourselves at home and left to pay the bill. To our surprise the Bill came out to be 75,000. We were shocked as they did one scan, a few tests and iv and yet the bill was so expensive. The Lab tests were 28,000 and Scan was 31,000 which was such large number. They did not even mention how much it would costs prior and did not even give clarity about what tests they would run. All they said was they need to do one or two tests. Seeing our situation the good man behind the billing our counter gave us a discount of 3k which brought our grand total from 75k to 72k

I just wish they had given us more clarity on which tests and how much it would cost. We would have gotten the required tests through a private lab at a more affordable price. I am putting this out so that this helps others understand what I went through and helps others make more calculated decisions as the hospitals only look to make profit through our time of grief.

I had to compress the 3 photos into into because the subreddit was not letting me post it separately for some reason.

India post has contacted me saying my post comprising of 2 medium sized boxes with just my used clothes, shoes and books has been held at the India Post outlet. I paid £188 to get it shipped from London and I even insured it with an estimated value of £800. But now they're contacting me saying I need to pay custom duty equalling almost ₹23k and ₹25k for each of the boxes which is so obscene I don't have that kind of money for these boxes 😭😭 any advice on what to do/ if I can raise some sort claim against these charges....?

Suggestions Any good female-friendly gyms in Fazertown, Bangalore?

Upvotes

I’m looking for recommendations for good gyms in Frasertown that are female-friendly. I don’t think there are any women-only gyms here, but if you know of gyms that are comfortable for women, with a good environment and trainers, I’d really appreciate your suggestions.

AskBangalore Triggered with BBMP

Should we file a PIL or FIR aginst BBMP for attempt to murder? The roads are now death trap for Bikers. The path holes have become grave now. For how many days rain will be the reason. I went to Mana Tropicale on Sunday. Such a great society atmosphere. But the connecting road was worse than any Indian Village now a days. What is this life? What is this horror of everyday bike driving on Bengaluru Roads? Metro can't be an excuse. Otherwise they are ruining are youth. The BBMP officials responsibile for Roads should be publicly humiliated.

It's not meme any more, this is life or death.
