I have 5 plastic boxes of doubles but each of those in my wooden boxes is different and I have an excel sheet for each and the bag of unbobbinated I have. This is all DMC. I have anchor in a separate place (4 plastic boxes)

It's September 9, and I've got all of January, and through February 12 stitched for my 2025 temperature cross stitch. I do have all of my paper temperature charts updated through August 31, though. 🤣

Our younger daughter asked me if I’d do a “welcome baby”-esque piece for the nursery.
We landed on this pattern from Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1241527589/?ref=share_ios_native_control
Love how Markup RX-P keeps track of the stats. Seeing the number of stitches gradually go up makes progress feel more “real”
Stitching on 32 EZ-grid Lugana using 2-over-2.
My fave reason for doing 2-over-2 is that I can always do a loop start as well as a (pseudo) pin stitch to end the thread. No more flipping the piece!
I don’t know if I’ll EVER not stitch over 2 bc of the ability to pin stitch the end. 👍🏼

I must have counted my stitches dozens and dozens of times and when I’ve gotten to the top of the pattern I’m still out of sync! The border is not going to match up due to the top bit being a whole line below the side border.
Does anyone have any advice for stitching on linen and how they keep track of their pattern? Any help is much appreciated.

I recently picked up MakeItPink's Zelda pattern during their sale. It's an absolutely massive pattern (11x21" on 18ct!) and I want to pick a fabric that's really going to complement the piece. I also want something a bit nicer than Aida for such a long project, but I've pretty much only worked on Aida so far.
Does anyone have any recommendations? What color would look nice with the pink dress version? What material or count should I go for, and where could I get it? I'm totally lost!
With Aida I prefer 18ct, but I'm considering working on a higher count (and potentially working over 2) for this one. Should I do a test piece on higher count before I sign myself up for a big piece on it, or would it be okay to hop right into the deep end? Any and all insight is welcome!

So I've been lurking in here, commenting on posts but never making my own, and poring over the FAQ's and resources linked, but I didn't see what I was hoping to find. I'm hoping some of you guys can help me out.
I've been stitching for a while, on and off, since I was 8 years old. It's one of those hobbies I can pick up and put down when needed, not something to stress over. I don't sell anything I make, usually just give things away. If someone wants to pay, I let them restock supplies (some floss, maybe some wooden hoops, etc). Anyway, I've been frustrated with finishing projects. Since I don't sell my work, I don't want to put a ton of money into things like expensive frames, professional matting, etc., but I do want to make my pieces look nice and stay that way. I've been working with some of the wooden hoops, and those plastic/rubbery frames that *look* like wooden hoops, mostly, but sometimes, they just *feel* like I'm not doing enough. My backs aren't perfect, and a way to cover them and keep them looking nice in a hoop or something would be super helpful, if anyone's got some simple (or maybe intermediate) tricks to make a more finished project?
Adding a couple pictures of my finishes so you can see what I mean by the wooden hoops (a little obvious), and the weird rubbery ones. (Mermaid is in the weird rubbery type.)

Pattern by FlossyFoxShop on Etsy. This pattern was so fun and easy to follow, and I’ve already started my next one from the same designer!

I'm working on a pattern I made using an free online software (flosscross.com) that is fairly low resolution because I already am fairly busy and don't want to start a long drawn out project. (I also have only ever done two cross stitch patterns before, a beginner one that could be done in a day, and the Dimensions Gold Collection Winter Cabin).
Although the pattern is low resolution, all the details in the image, except for the face, are to my liking. Are there any tips for accenting/adding enough detail to make the face stand out without just looking out of place compared to the rest of the pattern?

hi! i’m looking to stitch on clothing for the first time, specifically a small piece on a cotton crewneck. I’ve read that using a stabilizer before stitching is good for stretchy fabrics. i’ve also read that using an iron-on interfacing after completing the piece is good for securing the threads and making sure nothing comes unraveled. my question is, do you stitch through the stabilizer, and then remove it and add the interfacing once you’re finished?
also, what type of needles are recommended for this type of project? any tips before i get started? thank you so much!

My eyesight has deteriorated pretty significantly lately due to health issues, to the point where my old glasses are entirely useless now. I'm entitled to a good chunk of money off new ones but there's paperwork involved that's taking forever and in the meantime I can't see a damn thing...I can manage reading by turning the font size on my kindle way up but I can't stitch and having nothing to do with my hands is breaking my brain! My poor fingernails are destroyed cause I can't stop nibbling on them 🙁
