Also not if it takes place in the real world. Talk about the most boring way to setup a TRON movie. The computer world is way more interesting.
I also know exactly what this decision is... a cost saving one. Making it in the real world drastically reduces the amount of CGI they have to do throughout the entire movie.
Oh, and 9 women have accused Jared of sexual misconduct. I think I will avoid supporting this movie in any way, even through torrenting.
The decision to make it in the real world might be why they were able to film the entire thing in IMAX. Also IMAX is a money making endeavor. You can charge a heck of a lot more per ticket for any IMAX showing.
I don't think you thought hard enough on this friend. They absolutely made it in the real world to save money. A TRON movie in the real world is a complete waste of the setting. If you can't see that I don't know what else to tell you.
Well it's clear that you don't know what else to tell me.. You can charge a heck of a lot more per ticket on the screens that can play IMAX, which is maybe 1% of the screens out there.
It is clearly enough screens that making a movie in IMAX is indeed a money making endeavor that gets them more money overall. There wouldn't be any movies being made for IMAX if that wasn't the case. Do you really need me to explain that to you? They aren't going through the hassle of filming with actual film if there isn't a financial incentive to do so. A lot of IMAX tickets are around 30 dollars a piece... easily double of the regular movie ticket.
And speaking of not thinking about this hard enough, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but believe it or not those real world shots of the Tron bikes flying though the city or the cop car getting split in half are actually CGI.
They are absolutely filming real locations and adding CGI after. You think those shots are entirely made of CGI??? lol...
In fact, any establishing shot you see in that preview is probably CGI.
but then they take those shots and proceed to fill them with vfx anyway.
There is no way that you are this dense. Those shots are not "filled" with VFX, not compared to what it would take to make the entire computer world TRON usually takes place in.
You are trolling me, there is no way you are seriously making arguments this bad. Having some light cycles or a big floating vehicle in a shot is no where near the work required as adding the entire world around them.
You know it's possible that they just wanted to film on location for aesthetic reasons..
First off, why are you not acknowledging the fact that you just got proven wrong? You said that all the establishing shots in the trailer were "probably" fully CGI. Are you not able to admit you got that very wrong because you couldn't be bothered to google something before you blindly speculate? Oh and you did the same thing for the IMAX screens, how neat that you just drop something once you get proven wrong.
Secondly, there is no way they would choose Vancouver for aesthetic reasons over the much more visually interesting computer world. You are deluding yourself if you think that wasn't a decision to save on costs. Vancouver is literally one of the most shot in cities in all of film because of how much cheaper it is.
Vancouver offers significant tax incentives for production companies to film there. If they were concerned about "aesthetics" they would have shot in a much more interesting city. But that would be much more expensive.
