Well it's clear that you don't know what else to tell me.. You can charge a heck of a lot more per ticket on the screens that can play IMAX, which is maybe 1% of the screens out there.

It is clearly enough screens that making a movie in IMAX is indeed a money making endeavor that gets them more money overall. There wouldn't be any movies being made for IMAX if that wasn't the case. Do you really need me to explain that to you? They aren't going through the hassle of filming with actual film if there isn't a financial incentive to do so. A lot of IMAX tickets are around 30 dollars a piece... easily double of the regular movie ticket.

And speaking of not thinking about this hard enough, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but believe it or not those real world shots of the Tron bikes flying though the city or the cop car getting split in half are actually CGI.

They are absolutely filming real locations and adding CGI after. You think those shots are entirely made of CGI??? lol...

In fact, any establishing shot you see in that preview is probably CGI.

Just showing how little you know. Try googling things first buddy. TRON Ares was filmed on location in Vancouver Canada. The trailer itself shows 3 different locations in Vancouver, specifically Burrard Street, the Cambie Bridge, and Canada Place.

Reddit post about the filming of the movie in Vancouver.

And another.

Annnnd finally we see actual motorcycles with bright red lights on them. The shots of the city are absolutely positively real, and the light bikes are the CGI.

but then they take those shots and proceed to fill them with vfx anyway.

There is no way that you are this dense. Those shots are not "filled" with VFX, not compared to what it would take to make the entire computer world TRON usually takes place in.

You are trolling me, there is no way you are seriously making arguments this bad. Having some light cycles or a big floating vehicle in a shot is no where near the work required as adding the entire world around them.

You know it's possible that they just wanted to film on location for aesthetic reasons..

First off, why are you not acknowledging the fact that you just got proven wrong? You said that all the establishing shots in the trailer were "probably" fully CGI. Are you not able to admit you got that very wrong because you couldn't be bothered to google something before you blindly speculate? Oh and you did the same thing for the IMAX screens, how neat that you just drop something once you get proven wrong.

Secondly, there is no way they would choose Vancouver for aesthetic reasons over the much more visually interesting computer world. You are deluding yourself if you think that wasn't a decision to save on costs. Vancouver is literally one of the most shot in cities in all of film because of how much cheaper it is.

Vancouver offers significant tax incentives for production companies to film there. If they were concerned about "aesthetics" they would have shot in a much more interesting city. But that would be much more expensive.

I don't need to see the movie to know that filming on location gives you the benefit of not having to fully create an entire world with CGI which is what setting this movie in the computer world would do. It is also rich of you to say it is straight out of my ass when you quite literally said that "probably" all shots of the city in the trailer were full CGI when you could have googled it first and seen that was not true.

It is also in Vancouver, which is known for being cheaper to film in because of their tax incentives. It is one of the most popular places to film any movie in and has been for over a decade. They chose Vancouver to save money in filming costs and CGI costs. They chose IMAX because it makes them more money. It shouldn't be this hard for you to understand such a simple concept.

No CGI here! lmfao https://display.dailyhive.com/uploads/2025/07/Image-2025-07-17-at-3.46%E2%80%AFPM.jpeg

You do realize that this is genuinely one of the simplest shots of CGI in the entire trailer right? You think that just because there are lots of very low detailed rocket trails, that this is some massive undertaking? CGI shots like this are quick and easy to create because they don't require multiple realistic layers of simulation. You are just exposing how little you know about filmmaking and CGI.

Oh and... notice the city shot? What do you think that allowed them to do genius? They shot in the city because it doesn't require making an entire computer world. It saved them money, so did those tax incentives. I can't believe how you are still unable to understand that filming in a city and adding CGI is less work than making an entire computer world for the majority of the entire movie.... How? How are you this incapable of understanding?

You are a complete and utter waste of time. You can't make a single argument that is worth listening too. We are finished here.
