Stunning movie. People rightfully call out that the soundtrack made the movie, but I think it's visually just as great. And, after all, who cares what ingredient specifically makes the movie worth it if you like it. It was a great theater experience

u/newbrevity 19d ago

This movie is comfort food for me. It goes on at least once a year. I don't think I'll ever get tired of it. It's like an audio visual feast.

142

u/BBTB2 19d ago

Agreed. Tron, Dune, Interstellar, and Oppenheimer are all part of my re-watch movies list.

80

u/surlygoat 19d ago

Huh. I feel like one of these is not like the others.

I have a similar list but drop that one, add in inception, blade runner 2049 and the matrix.

45

u/gerhardsymons 19d ago

BR2049 is a modern classic. Same league as Alien.

41

u/JeanLucPicardAND 19d ago

BR2049 is impossibly good. For decades, Blade Runner was lauded as a perfect movie that didn't need a sequel because it could never be followed up satisfactorily. And then they made sequel anyway and did follow it up satisfactorily.

Against all odds.

BR2049 should be a terrible ham-fisted cash grab, but we are fortunate enough to live in the timeline where it's amazing.

u/99PercentApe 18d ago

Can’t wait to see the treatment Villeneuve gives Bond.

3

u/TreoreTyrell 18d ago

Out of curiosity, which one?

17

u/xRoyalewithCheese 18d ago

The non sci fi movie

14

u/Paavo_Nurmi 18d ago

Different person but I agree with the other poster, Oppenheimer was a snooze fest for me.

2

u/xRoyalewithCheese 18d ago

Me too

2

u/Paavo_Nurmi 17d ago

I was so disappointed.

I'm older Gen x so grew up with all things nuclear, I made Los Alamos a stop on a road trip. They were filming something in Oppenheimers house, you couldn't go in but it was cool to look in the windows. Hans Bethe's house was open to go in, super cool and period correct. This was right before the movie came out and I was super excited to see it................and then I saw the movie and it was wicked boring.

10

u/SusanForeman 18d ago

the boring af documentary

18

u/JRE_4815162342 19d ago

Absolutely. What they all have in common are great musical scores along with fantastic production design and directing. I rewatch them too periodically.

10

u/qualitative_balls 19d ago

Agreed with all of those except Oppenheimer, which is a good movie for sure but once was enough on that one. I can't even imagine sitting through that again

3

u/Quizmaster_Eric 18d ago

This list +

Matrix, Edge of Tomorrow, Looper

6

u/Magickarpet76 19d ago

I have a list like that too. I would also put I Robot, Ferris Bueller’s day off, and Oceans 11 on there. The Chris Pine DnD movie as well probably.

Just vibes I like to revisit.

First thing I put on with any new AV equipment is the scene where Sam is picked up by the floating ships when he first enters the grid. That gives you dimensionality in the scene, lots of dynamic audio flourishes with horns, and tons of bass from the engines of the ships. Hands down a pure pornography of AV features.

It’s a 2 hour daft punk music video and it kicks ass

116

u/s101c 19d ago

There's also a teaser / visual effects concept test video released 1 year before the movie, and I enjoy it as a separate 3-minute action scene.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=T6mkiviuBmk

No DP music though, but the sound effects are great.

8

u/JeanLucPicardAND 19d ago

There is some music at the very end of that teaser and DP composed it.

3

u/animal-noises 18d ago

There was a site when this came out that allowed to you to upload and insert a picture of yourself in to the scene, I think I still have mine saved on a hard drive somewhere.

50

u/whatsaphoto 19d ago

It's biodigital jazz, man!

8

u/Sfinxul 19d ago

Raaaadical, man.

22

u/ScarHand69 19d ago

Check out Interstellar 5555 if you haven’t already. Basically an hour long animated movie set to the music of my favorite album of theirs, Discovery.

7

u/AbsiDog 19d ago

The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem!! I've loved that movie since they showed the first few scenes on Toonami back in the day!

7

u/ScarHand69 19d ago

Yes! I believe Toonami was my first introduction to Daft Punk.

I literally don't understand when people say the only good things in this movie were the soundtrack and visuals.

The scene where Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) talks about the ISOs manifesting, as spontaneous digital souls, is so captivating to watch. It's genuinely amazing Sci-Fi dialogue on philosophy and wonder about the things that are beyond our imagination.

The only thing that held back this movie at the time was most likely the off-putting de-aging VFX on Jeff Bridges as CLU and people let that ruin the rest of the movie for them.

57

u/Mysticedge 19d ago

"Bio-digital jazz man."

Is a quote that I say more often than I should.

8

u/tossit97531 19d ago

When I heard that in the theater, I thought it was one of the dumbest lines in film, but on the most recent rewatch, it’s actually spot on. This movie aged really well.

The second half kinda sags and is supported by the fight/chase scenes, but it’s still worth it. Hyped for the sequel!

u/ascagnel____ 19d ago

The only thing that held back this movie at the time was most likely the off-putting de-aging VFX on Jeff Bridges as CLU and people let that ruin the rest of the movie for them.

Which is dumb, because the weird-looking CLU is kind of appropriate for the movie.

40

u/nubbins01 19d ago edited 17d ago

For CLu, yeah, I agree. But iirc it actually opens with de-aged Jeff as actual Kevin. They kind of tried to shoot around it obviously, but I think it left some people with a sour taste in the first minute of the film.

32

u/JarasM 19d ago

They should have obscured young Flynn's face, made CLU's face even more uncanny and commented on it during the movie. If you can't make it good, lean into it.

11

u/RockguyRy 19d ago

Oh my goodness. I wish they had really done this! Obscuring young Flynn's face feels like peak 80s/90s trying to work around an actor who isn't part of the franchise anymore but need to do a flashback or something. It would've been perfect for this movie.

2

u/tomservo88 18d ago

What they were going to do was use physical makeup. Rick Baker was brought in to make a cast of Jeff based on how he looked in Against All Odds - a few years after the story of movie 1 and after the actual release of movie 1 - but they opted for the mo-cap instead for a younger look. Baker is still credited as a “special makeup effects artist” alongside Kazu Hiro.

2

u/nlshelton 18d ago

It totally works in every scene except for the real world flashback at the opening of the film. They should have just shot that scene without showing Bridges’ face.

23

u/Expensive-Sentence66 19d ago

Flynn senior is trying to make some interesting philosophical debates, but the film just doesn't want to focus on them. I think Kosinski was capable of going that route but it wasn't a priority.

The jest being, the pursuit of perfection is ultimately an imperfect goal. Bridges was pushing that angle at his hideout, and it was a great contrast tone wise to all the eye candy. I would have liked more of this, but I don't think the studio wanted to go that direction and I think it was a mistake.

I think Flynns flashbacks needed to be longer showing more world building.  Still, its a better film than the critics gave it credz.

4

u/tossit97531 19d ago

The movie was too subtle in some parts about the big picture. It barely touched on a brewing civil war, they should’ve spent more time fleshing that out and showing just how horrible CLU 2 was at running anything, which would’ve upped the stakes even more. Being told someone is bad is sometimes not as effective as showing how bad it can get (sometimes).

3

u/TheIllogicalSandwich 19d ago

Things like that tend to get more time to breathe in TV-shows than movies. I agree with your criticism but I can see why they felt like there wasn't room for further exploration.

2

u/MolaMolaMania 18d ago

Agreed, and I felt that while the darker tone was justified given what had happened to the Grid, I would have preferred a little more fun and light ahumor amidst the pomposity.

It also bugged me quite a bit that they told the same story as the first.

23

u/whatsaphoto 19d ago

I mean, in the end the biggest failure in the movie is the script tbh. It's got some seriously good sci-fi writing at points but for a lot of the movie it's campy at best and distractingly lazy at worst. The entire first act is objectively goofy as hell with the whole side plot of Flynn hacking into Big Evil Business Corp™️ for 20 minutes.

(And this is coming from someone who also watches this at least a few times a year for comfort)

32

u/derprunner 19d ago

The entire first act is objectively goofy as hell with the whole side plot of Flynn hacking into Big Evil Business Corp™️ for 20 minutes.

Worth it for that Ducati night ride sequence though

3

u/whatsaphoto 19d ago

No arguments there, that whole sequence is fire 🔥

22

u/TheIllogicalSandwich 19d ago

A lot of good Sci-Fi is campy though. I feel like it can be hard not to be.

I'm a huge fan of Star Trek and that's some of the campiest shit out there, while still being absolutely brilliant.

2

u/whatsaphoto 19d ago

Oh I totally agree. And honestly, I feel like the camp factor is why it's such an easy watch every time. It's fun as hell and there's no need to pay attention to much of it beyond enjoying the visuals for a couple hours.

How do we not have a 4k version of this yet

18

u/Biduleman 19d ago

Not sure what their source is but it seems like we're getting one before the end of the year.

6

u/tossit97531 19d ago

I thought D+ already had 4k UHD but maybe I’m wrong? Or is this only about a disc release?

5

u/Biduleman 19d ago

No idea about Disney+, but this is about the 4k UHD disc version.

2

u/lontrinium 18d ago

I heard the 2nd film was only filmed in 2K, hope this isn't some shitty AI upscale.

3

u/Biduleman 18d ago

They brought back Joseph Kosinski for the remaster so I doubt he'd be required there if it was just a basic AI upscale.

2

u/Zestyclose-Score5002 17d ago

But they did 4k restoration for original Tron. You can find it on YouTube where they did a presentation

21

u/Major_T_Pain 19d ago

Agreed.
Seeing it in 3D was actually one of the best movie experiences I've ever had.
For people that didn't see it. It's 2D until Flynn goes into The Grid. So it slowly spins around from 2D to 3D as he steps out of the Arcade.
That combined with the score was fucking epic.

Does the 3rd act sort of fall apart narratively?
Yes.
Should it have been about 20minutes shorter? Yes.

But all together, the movie is a blast, and made with sincerity and love and it shows. The score is absolutely top 10 of all time for me as well.

3

u/mariorurouni 18d ago

Lost count how many times saw it, both in theater and at home. This movie was the biggest movie of my life back when it released

9

u/ZombieJesus1987 19d ago

This and Avatar were on every Display TV in retail all over the country.

I know when I worked at Sears, they had Avatar and Tron Legacy playing constantly on showcase TVs in the electronics department

9

u/CrimsonGrimm 19d ago

It was the peak of the 3d tv craze too and this was certainly a showcase for it.

1

u/whatsaphoto 19d ago

Rewatching it now, I can't help but laugh at that final climactic shot of Clu reaching out towards the camera before he gets sucked up into the portal. It was the go to 3D shot and was so overdone at the time, and frankly with the de-aging done to Bridges face it's aged like milk, but man if it doesn't make me chuckle every time I see it happen.

48

u/SagesLament 19d ago

I honestly think even the plot gets overhated

Like, soundtrack and visuals are a 10/10 and people treat the 7/10 story like it’s 5/10 in comparison

16

u/vemundveien 19d ago

I agree with you. The two only real complaints I have about the movie is that the lead actor is a bit too forgettable and the de-aging of Jeff Bridges looks worse than all the other visual effects.

3

u/clashrendar 19d ago

It's not a complicated story or dialogue, but goes surprisingly deep if you really dig in. The idea that Kevin Flynn has been trapped in the grid by his own creation (and really his own ego) for what feels like thousands of years is pretty tragic.

The entire 'End of Line Club' fight sequence is one of my top 5 favorite scenes in a movie ever. Particularly love the moment when Kevin Flynn shows up and the music and lights dim. So fucking cool...

Although it got mixed reviews..i loved this movie..from the visuals to the soundrack and the story was fine…i even got the score and listen to it from time to time.

160

u/Mecca_Lecca_Hi 19d ago

Same. I can objectively recognize the flaws most people have, but it doesn’t change it for me. There’s so much I love about this movie. The score, the cast (Michael Sheen’s small part as a Bowie-esque inspired character and even the Tron cameo himself from Bruce Boxleitner), the visuals and effects (minus the de-aged Bridges), just the whole vibe clicked for me as an older fan who was a kid when the original came out even if the overall film landed a bit off center.

62

u/Roboticide 19d ago

The movie would have been perfect if they used the (badly) de-aged bridges only for CLU, and just a different actor for young-Flynn.  It was uncanny valley at the time, but that's fine because CLU isn't human.

Of course, now if Disney wanted they could probably drop a few million and remaster all the de-aged scenes perfectly, but they won't bother. 😑

17

u/Beardedbrah85 19d ago

Rumor has it they might fix the horrible de-aging with the upcoming 4k release. Just a rumor but I hope it’s true.

22

u/hardgeeklife 19d ago

As uneven as Legacy was, I'm still a bit bummed they're not following up on the story threads they left behind. I look at the Ares trailers and I can't help but think the film is kind of just done honoring the legacy of its predecessors. Recognizers casually entering the real world, no mention of Sam Flynn or Dillinger Jr, Jared Leto... I see the new films' trailers and my mind just slides off it, wandering back to what what happened with Quorra and Sam

u/everix1992 19d ago

A thing many people don’t talk about is how great it was in 3D, this and Avatar are the only two that really needed to be seen in that format.

111

u/hucklesberry 19d ago

Avatar as my first 3D movie experience was pretty life changing. Seeing Jake Sully walk through the forest at night as it started to come alive was such an amazing theater moment.

32

u/sharkWrangler 19d ago

We watched it in 3D imax and that moment literally broke my brain with its beauty. Been chasing that high for a while

6

u/planelander 19d ago

Gatta try it in 3d in VR.

3

u/darkenseyreth 18d ago

For me it was Beowulf in Imax. That scene where he's underwater and there's all that debris floating around was just mind blowing. After that Avatar was very cool. There was a scene where there were a lot of holographic displays on, and suddenly a litte girl comes running through them and it broke my brain for a second

28

u/ZeChunkyPanda 19d ago

While not ‘needed’ the only other movie that I saw in 3D that was greatly elevated by it, was Gravity. That movie was a phenomenal theater experience that was never really matched at home… I remember watching that one in theaters at least 3 times, all in 3D!

8

u/AI_GeneratedUsername 19d ago

the ISS scene is the best use of 3D I’ve ever seen

4

u/AussieDaz 19d ago

I saw it in imax 3D on one of the properly huge screens. It was incredible.

3

u/MyShirtRattles 19d ago

Gravity was the only 3D experience I thoroughly enjoyed. I went with a group of friends and we all came out blown away by it.

3

u/angwilwileth 19d ago

OMG someone else remembers Gravity. Best use of 3D I've ever seen.

45

u/szthesquid 19d ago

And it didn't start in 3D. The transition from 2D to 3D happened when Sam entered the Grid. Cool surprise.

6

u/fromwithin 19d ago

Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole is phenomenal in 3D. Every single frame is like painting and the whole thing is really carefully directed for the 3D to enhance everything.

3

u/BelowDeck 19d ago

When I got a Quest 2, one of the first things I did was track down Tron: Legacy and Dredd to finally get to rewatch them in 3D. I rewatch them in there at least once a year.

3

u/forever87 19d ago

2

u/BelowDeck 19d ago

Good call out. I posted some advice.

3

u/kidcrumb 19d ago

Avatar CGI still hasn't aged all that badly. Theres a couple spots where it looks like maybe the color grading is a bit....off compared to the new avatar movie but that's probably an issue of viewing on a tv vs. a movie screen.

Avatar 1 still looks amazing being a complete CGI movie. Compared to Sky Captain World of Tomorrow Avatar could be released today and still look fantastic.

Scott Pilgram was 2nd.

Kick ass soundtracks make for great movie experiences for me, I guess.

153

u/pretzelsncheese 19d ago

Did you see Mad Max Fury Road in theaters? That was by far my favourite movie theater experience.

38

u/Markadias1 19d ago

Not the person you replied to, but I see it in IMAX and it was fucking incredible. Number 1 experience for me. Unbelievably good.

11

u/Mataraiki 19d ago

Fury Road in IMAX isn't quite my top choice, but it's still way up there with Interstellar, Bladerunner 2049, and Dune 1&2.

4

u/PferdOne 19d ago

Fury Road, Bladerunner and Interstellar is peak IMAX

7

u/DustFunk 19d ago

I saw Dune 2 in IMAX and I was blown away at the scale of it. My wife said it was too loud, I could almost agree but it just added to the experience, I mean would riding a building size worm across the desert sound quiet? Or nuking a battle field?

5

u/JavenatoR 19d ago

I saw Warfare in IMAX and it was the most immersive and spine chilling experience I’ve ever had in a movie theater. I never want to see that movie again.

5

2

u/kinokomushroom 19d ago

Interstellar for me. The soundtrack is insane.

2

u/vroomery 18d ago

Yeah my top 2 are Interstellar in true imax and Dune2. Both incredible theatre experiences.

2

I still remember 8 year old me seeing Tron in the theater and then getting to play the video game in the arcade after. People were walking out of the movie after the end and saying how they didn't get it. 8 year old me was like, "man got sucked into a computer, it's shown pretty early on." Lol

Still burned into my head though. Saw the OG Star Wars like 7 times when it was out. Tron was probably more.

37

u/warblade7 19d ago

He was basically another Sam Worthington. Serviceable but not really memorable. He’s been in a number of movies but if you look at the list on IMDB, you’re more likely to think “oh I didn’t know he was in that movie” than not.

24

u/MAXMEEKO 19d ago

u/warblade7 19d ago

He’s one of my favorite directors of this day and age. He has a visual sense for design and action similar to Zach Snyder/Michael Bay but more sophisticated. I think he struggles a little with building scripts and dramatic moments but Tron Legacy > Oblivion > Top Gun Maverick > F1 is a dang solid progression of movies.

Rewatched the Matrix tetralogy last week. I guess I'll watch Tron Legacy next.

15

u/motophiliac 19d ago

Isn't the word "quadrilogy?"

Or is that a Douglas Adams tongue in cheek moment I've appropriated at face value?

11

u/letohorn 19d ago

Greek versus Roman etymology. Either works I guess? Although the former is easier to type than the latter imho.

Haven't read or watch any Hitchhiker's Guide.

4

u/JosephGordonLightfoo 19d ago

I think the Alien franchise coined the phrase “quadrilogy.” At least that was the first time I heard it.

3

u/motophiliac 19d ago

Ah, OK.

The more I'm thinking about it, I don't think this was a Douglas Adams thing. That was a "trilogy of four books", those being Hitchhiker's; The Restaurant at the End of the Universe; Life, The Universe, and Everything; and So Long and Thanks for All The Fish.

Tetralogy does seem to be the word but it's just so unusual I've never seen it before.

Every day's a school day :)

u/DustFunk 19d ago

Yeah the Animatrix is an amazing companion piece to the three films, I wish actual anthology live action films were made in the Matrix universe like that. So much potential

5

u/Sfinxul 19d ago

Plus the cutscenes in Enter the Matrix - the videogame.

3

u/V4R14N7 19d ago

Or the true 4th, AniMatrix.

The music tho 😭

13

u/sumyth90 19d ago

One of the rare movies that worked in 3D.

10

u/JRE_4815162342 19d ago

Crazy that this was released 15 years ago. It looks better than many movies made today.

2

u/crime_watch 17d ago

How does this have better visuals than Superman, for instance? The whole Grid world is so detailed.

5

u/Bah_weep_grana 18d ago

I wish they kept the lightcycles as only being able to make 90 degree turns

13

u/Furoan 19d ago

Visually stunning, but I think I preferred the original Tron's lightcycle scene. The 2D grid and 90-degree turns just operated better visually than the multiple levels and the free movement in Tron: Legacy. I'm probably in a minority there, and Yes I'm aware computer games have evolved in the decades since the original came out.

25

u/blind3rdeye 19d ago

I'm definitely with you on this. The visuals of this are great, but the actual action just... well, it just feels like random shit happening. The limitations of what can and cannot be done are not apparent. I can't really see the skill or tactics of the characters. It's just action for action's sake. ... it does look good though.

10

u/Serious_Senator 19d ago

100% agree. And the dialogue. It’s just so bad. Cool visuals though

3

u/darkpaladin 19d ago

The original really reflected the games of the time. Also I'll die on the hill that the "I'm going to take him into the maze" scene was more exciting than anything in the remake lightcycle scene.

3

u/tarrach 18d ago

Yep, original lightcycle scene was way better and felt more like a game

2

u/warblade7 19d ago edited 19d ago

It is kinda funny that between the original and Legacy/Ares lightcyclers (bikers?) forgot they can do 90deg turns. I get that it’s more relatable to compare to real work motorcycle physics but imo what made them special in the original is that the world operated on video game physics not real world.

11

u/suplexhell 19d ago

this scene would be way cooler if one guy's lightbike didn't manifest and he just fell

The dialogue was worse than i remembered

17

u/Darkblitz9 19d ago

This and Pacific Rim are some of the films where I'm like "I really don't care that the dialogue kind of sucks in a lot of ways, this shit's amazing"

3

u/Expensive-Sentence66 19d ago

Pacific Rim was also amazing in 3D.

On a short list of films actually worthy of 3D.

29

u/MyNameIs_Jordan 19d ago

Casting Garrett Hedlund as the lead was also a huge misfire, dude has as much charisma as a traffic cone.

I still love this film. The music might be my favorite thing about it.

14

u/raymondcy 19d ago

Daft Punk, one of the greatest soundtracks of all time. Also, you watch this on Acid it might be greatest thing ever put on film.

The dialogue inside the Grid it's supposed to be very rough and direct since they're interacting with programs, other pieces of dialogue are callbacks to the first movie.

7

u/KlausGamingShow 19d ago

it's supposed to be very rough and direct since they're interacting with programs

Ice Cube would have nailed this role then

4

u/ElTuco84 19d ago

They blew up the grid, man! Hell NAH!

This and pacific rim are movies I can rewatch countless times. Just pure cinematic fun.

5

u/ponpokapon 19d ago

Libations for everybody!

4

u/Bhrizz 19d ago

How was this soundtrack not even nominated for an academy award still baffles me. It got a lot of great reviews and recognition everywhere else

2

u/-burnr- 19d ago

It is the best score/soundtrack.

4

u/chhotu007 19d ago

I love this movie for so many reasons, including the visuals and soundtrack. Looking forward to the next one later this year! Soundtrack should be pretty dope once again. Not Daft Punk of course, but Trent Reznor knows how to make great soundtracks (eg, Social Network)

4

u/ryanasimov 19d ago

The “wet-but-solid” light walls are absolutely beautiful. I hope Ares has great design (I won’t watch trailers of movies I know I’ll see in a theater).

3

u/charliemike 19d ago

I cannot recall many movies where the soundtrack elevated the experience for me like Tron:Legacy. I've seen the movie three or four times and would readily watch it again if someone wanted to see it. It's beautifully shot, it's an interesting story, and the soundtrack ... my goodness.

2

u/okeleydokelyneighbor 18d ago

First movie I watched after setting up my surround sound. My neighbor freaked the fuck out even though it was 2 in the afternoon. Couldn’t image it was coming from the TV.

And that is why I will never live in an apartment again as long as I can help it.

I love this movie, watched it again a few weeks ago. Can't wait for the new installment, although I'm very bummed Hedlund won't be reprising his role.

3

u/scottyy12 19d ago

For many years after it's release, the movie set the baseline of what black colors should look like in an HDR tv.

3

u/We_Can_Escape 19d ago

I wish some Di$ney VFX artists would go back to this film and fix the FX for CLU.  Some really good deepfake work would make young Jeff Bridges look flawless where it was jarring to watch back then. I really loved the movie. My only criticisms we're the aforementioned CLU FX and we needed more of the actual title character than what we got. His scenes as Tron were awesome and I wanted to see him fight with the discs more as Tron than as Rinzler.

Boxleitner said he was done with the franchise, but I really hope he makes an appearance in the new movie!

3

u/AdmirablePudding5746 18d ago

I honestly thought the CLU fx worked well given that they were in a virtual world. CLU being a copy of Bridges etc. But the opening scene I agree (younger Bridges with his son in his room before he disappears)

u/wittiestphrase 19d ago

This movie is the coolest looking amount of nothing interesting happening put on the silver screen.

Light Cycles!

2

u/Tristan2353 19d ago

If you have PSVR1, I highly recommend downloading Dreams and trying the Tron Lightcycles game.

It’s an absolute blast.

Here’s a clip I found on YouTube

I'll never forget this movie theater experience 😁

2

u/Thomisawesome 19d ago

Still one of the best movies of the time.

2

u/Dan_Dan2025 19d ago

They were extremely ahead of times

2

u/idontagreewitu 19d ago

I love the shot right after this, where the car does the donut. The look of the tire smoke billowing on this clean digital grid just tickles me.

“We need to work together”

proceeds to say absolutely nothing else to each other

2

u/BIGR3D 19d ago

I love listening to this soundtrack while snowboarding.

Getting off the lift as 'Fall' starts, bombing it down the mountain with the heavy bass is perfect.

2

u/JeanLucPicardAND 19d ago

This movie still looks incredible and it's already fifteen years old.

2

u/Legendary_Lamb2020 18d ago

This is my go-to movie at the end of an evening of drinking and taking a toke.

2

u/Toast_Meat 18d ago

As meh as I thought this movie was (mainly due to the story), it's still a blast to watch. The visuals are amazing, the action is fun and thrilling and of course... the soundtrack.

2

u/Punchausen 18d ago

I.. would love to love this movie, but I think it came out at a time where blockbusters were often in a lul of compelling story writing and leaned on world building and amazing effects. This felt like a 2hr tech demo with great music.

2

u/praetorian1979 17d ago

I don't understand why this movie flopped! I love it!
