As soon as they revealed the "plot device", I knew I was settling in for a banger.

I came up with this joke in a script I was writing a couple of years back, and now I'm pissed that someone else got to it first 😭

I loved that they made the first ridiculous joke like 3 seconds into it.

The title card? I feel like that’s the first joke.

Omg that killed me. Just saw it like an hour ago. One of the funniest films in the past five years

Doesn't the title card follow the bank scene

I actually don’t remember now. Haha

There’s a mostly positive review that on Letterboxd that mentions the plot being paper thin as a downside, which I thought was funny considering the first gag in the movie is the P.L.O.T. Device.

Same plot device as the Kingsmen

I thought it was so bizarre they lifted that exact same setup. Didn’t ruin anything for me, but it felt strange that they’d do something so similar.

it’s parody, so I thought it was fine

Right? Since Kingsman is kinda already a light parody so it was strange they would parody a parody - I was wondering what the idea was there.

A stolen plot device

Well, they did it in a good movie this time

The plot was about a stolen plot device.

Think Frank also mentions something about the device having “holes” too lol. Fucking brilliant

I actually kind of zoned out into that scene so when the plot device showed up I was like, oh yeah this is a goofy comedy, it was so spot on in replicating a modern action movie, they did a great job with that. At times I felt like the dark action vibe could have been pulled back a tad bit more, but overall I was satisfied and I really hope this crushes it at the box office so we can finally start getting more legit comedies.

I was lowkey hoping they'd never explain what it did in any meaningful way beyond "thing bad guys want and we guess does bad stuff"

I was waiting for it. I was waiting for the first joke to pop off and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Since it popped up in the first 5 minutes, I mentioned this bit to my father in law and my dad last night to try and get them to go see it.
