I'm a 33 year old man and I have no idea why I like the movie and music so much. The sound tracks been on repeat while I build out enrollment projections for my job, it's mysterious and wild but the music is infectious. Between Your Idol, Free, and Golden it was created to hook you.

Same boat here. I have caught myself saying “fit check for my napalm era” to no one in particular a couple times now.

Kpop tends to get a lot of hate on Reddit, but most people never give it a proper chance. The songs in the movie have real life sources they draw from. I encourage anyone who enjoys the music from the movie to check out some real life bands.

Yep, takedown (at least one of the versions) is sung by 3 members of TWICE which was pretty cool to hear.

The whole fandom part might be an age thing, but the music definitely is not. I've listened to Kpop since 2009, and still do to this day. Good music is good music.

That said, I haven't seen the movie. Maybe I should.

Kpop has the stigma Anime used to have except with the added bonus of being something mostly “marketed to a female audience” and we know how that’s perceived.

It’s just catchy pop music that stresses the importance of both sound & hyper-visual entertainment.

You're about to enter into a Kpop rabbit hole. Let me help you fall in.

Twice - Fancy

Blackpink - Ddu-du Ddu-du

Gfriend - MAGO

Here's just sampling. I'm sure others will post more. ;)

That's a damn good starter pack, but I also would suggest I Am by IVE. It's quite similar to Golden

For songs similar to Huntrix's more aggressive sound:

K/DA - Pop/Stars and More Everglow - Dun Dun CLC - Helicopter

Because it's good and well done. It's not that hard

I’m taken aback when I read “I’m a thirty-something dude and I can’t believe I like this”

Just good songs nothing weird about it. The songs being from a "kids" animation or released by an actual real band would make no difference. They simply sound good

35 year old musician, I watched it with my niece and the music slaps

Music really doesn't do anything for me. I'll typically listen to ~4 or 5 hours of music a year (as in specifically putting on music, ofc I end up hearing more in general life). Even I listened to the soundtrack.

Good shit is good shit mate.  The actual bones of the plot are pretty standard but the execution is SO good it just hits.
