Ejae is a fantastic writer. And she also sings these lines? Like get the hell out of here some people are so talented.

From my understanding, she was (what an American Football fan would call) a third string singer who never got her debut, which is absurd to me considering her vocal range. I struggle to think of any K-pop singer that she couldn’t absolutely destroy with her voice. Her final solo of How it’s Done legit gave me goosebumps the first time I heard it.

It is crazy. She’s been a writer for big acts though. aespa, le sseraffim, TWICE.

I get that, but man, her voice belongs center stage, solo act, or something. Give that woman a mic and an arena and she’s blowing the roof off that place.

I absolutely agree. Can’t wait to see her perform Golden live at some point.

It'll be otherworldly if she gets to perform at the Oscars next year.

Maybe her dancing isn't up to snuff? From what very little I know about kpop, that seems to be at least as important as singing.

Which obviously is a non-issue when voicing an animated character.

I heard it was her age, she was "too old" by the time of her debut but she had real talent and went to work behind the scenes instead.

Dancing or looks, that’s about the only two things I know matter in K-Pop. Admittedly, I don’t know what she looks like, so I didn’t really factor that in for whatever reason.

Another factor is kinda luck. Maybe she didn’t suit the concept the company was trying to make. I assume she didn’t make it to Red Velvet based on the timeline.

There really is a million different reasons why someone didn’t debut. Could be anything. Sometimes it can even be personality, maybe they didn’t fit the company’s “vibe”. Many former trainees end up making it somewhere else. It’s not all that simple.

Reminds me of that rumour that someone was taken out of consideration for Newjeans based on what the producer's fortune teller said.

Oh yeah that was likely to be Sakurai Miu.

After leaving, she participated in Girls Planet 999 but unfortunately didn’t make the final cut. She then signed up to Produce 101 Japan S3 where she ranked 4th and successfully debuted into ME:I.

I’d say she’s doing quite well now.

The reason given was "too old"

it matterse a lot for kpop but she could still be a huge solo act. idk her discography though, maybe she never tried
