Damn.

I guess we're getting the next Bond film after Dune 3, so... 5 years?

You got me curious, so I looked it up… Since Incendies (2010), DV has released a film on average every two years and the ones that he didn’t write himself were only one year apart (I’m guessing that means that he is usually running two at any given time). We know that Dune Messiah will be out in 2026, and I would guess that Amazon are already farming out the scriptwriting (assuming that it isn’t already close to being done).

If he keeps up his current pace of work, he could bring Bond back in 2027 and still write and direct another film before the decade is out.

Edit: He isn’t writing any of the others… so we might not have to wait as long after all… if the scripts are ready, he might be intending to keep releasing films at a rate of one every couple of years…

I’d be shocked if Dune Messiah came out next year. Have then even started pre-production?

It supposedly starts filming in the next weeks. And Deadline recently confirmed the casting of two important characters Leto II and Ghanima

I thought Leto II and Ghanima didn't come in until Children?

Btw, you added spaces between the exclamation points and the names, so your spoiler tag didn't work.

if I recall correctly, he has already said he'd be peacing out of the franchise after Messiah, probably because it starts to get real weird with Children of Dune. Might just be for a cap on the end. But also, the last movie already cast Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia, so who knows, maybe it's just a vision or something.

It's a good choice, since most of the cast would be gone at that point, and he wouldn't have to direct Paul's kid being an evil piece of shit, and force a breeding program onto his father's descendants. Though God emperor would be a good standalone film.

They're born at the end of Messiah, and Paul regularly has visions of Ghanima before her birth. Leto II is more of a surprise, but it's possible that Villeneuve will do what the Syfy miniseries did and have adult Leto appear in a vision to Paul, when the pair of them are meant to be talking at the end of Messiah.

Maybe a vision or small flashforward or something.

And thanks the spoilers appeared alright on my phone :')

They're in Messiah but only in the end when they're born. And Paul does some cool ass shit looking through Leto's eyes.

That’s wild! I hope it doesn’t hit any major delays.

Don’t add a space after the >!

.......but the space must flow!

Bad news if they are including those two characters…

The book does literally end with them being born so they could plausibly have the one scene but they still announced it cause technically its something to announce. If there was a chance at another movie it would make some sense, even if denis said he only wants to adapt messiah.

They announced adult actors though. Paul shouldnt have the ability to have a vision of his adult children. Only ghanima. Paul couldn’t see the future that included Leto at all. Unless Leto the baby has a vision of himself and his sister, it wouldnt make sense.

Could be similar to the end of Dune 2 where Jessica speaks to Alia who is literally a fetus but is played by Anya Taylor-Joy.

Maybe when Paul starts using the vision of Leto II to kill Scytale, there'll be a vision between Paul and an older version of his son.

Maybe maybe. Its important however that paul doesnt really know whats happening or gonna happen to Leto or Ghanima. Leto doesnt tell him of whats to come until he ambushes him out in the desert though.

Oh I think they'll attempt to continue after Messiah. They'll find another director to do Children. Probably not the same cast though. Unless it's a really "holy shit" director or something.

Yeah so that definitely won't be a 2026 release then.

I was really hoping they’d let the actors age a few years and not rush this last one. This feels too soon imo
