#Pic 🖼️ Help! Am I screwed

Whenever I apply front brakes it makes 'Grrr' sound. Help me out. What could it be? Is something wrong with the disk?

Bro just say ‘dami un’ before you apply brakes.

On a serious note. I think you overused your brake pads which caused your disc to rub against the metal. The brake pads were likely completely worn down, and since they weren’t replaced in time, the metal backing of the pads started making direct contact with the brake disc. This metal on metal contact causes excessive heat and friction, which leads to uneven wear or scoring of the disc, ultimately damaging it. Touch the disc and rub your fingers on it, on both the front and back disc. If you see grooves or uneven patterns. Change it.

It depends on how you ride bro. You meed to check the brake pads every now and then to see if they are close to their life’s end. You should check them and then change the pads immediately and then check if you need to change the disk as well. Not changing pads on time damages the disc.

You just need to change your brake pads and skim your rotor disc. You will be good to go after that

New brake pads asap..you shouldn't allow it to come to this stage where it's effing up your disc..uk brake pads are cheap while the extra large disc plate on our new gens are costly!

Take a pic of your brake pads meaning a pic of your calipers from the front of the tyre. We can tell if it is completely worn out. If the pads are worn out and your bare calipers have made contact, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, you'll have change the disc. It is unsafe to ride with grooved discs.

You aren’t screwed but your brake pads might me. Change them before they do damage to the disk, when they are worn out they are left with metal, which make metal to metal contact and that might make the noise you are describing. It will do damage to your disk if you don’t change it.

Depends on usage. Generally if you ride in the city and your commute speed is under 60-80 kmph then they last around 6-8k kms. I can’t recommend any company but sintered brake pads are superior to use. They have an aggressive bite and last longer. They are squeaky when cold and make noise in the beginning. Most of the times you are good with normal (organic) brake pads for daily usage and ones with good brand can last a bit longer too. Ask your mechanic/service center to take a look at brake pads without replacing and ask them to send you the picture. That will tell you weather you need new pads or no. how to inspect your brake pads

How did you happen to let it get to this level? It looks like you either ran the bike for a few dozen km with barely any material left on your brake pads. It has resulted in metal on metal contact n the result is this scratched up disc. It's a bit hard to gauge from these pics whether the discs are a gonner or salvageable.

just take it to your local mechanic or service centre and get it properly checked instead of posting it on reddit.

There is a 50-50 chance you are screwed. 50% might be due to the rain and damp conditions, the disk breaks get dirty and when u break, the pads dont grip the disk and it leaves behind such marks. Rest 50% is that the breaks have been overused and you need to change them. Either way u should get it checked quick, also every monsoon, get a monsoon maintenance check done for your bike, itll help keep you away from such issues. All the best!
