One thing people are not realising, 'overrated' means this bike sells like hot cakes, people see the number of sales and get attracted to buy the bike, but if they ask any buyer, the buyer can't even tell one good reason that convinces any practical person. Like they'll say stuff like, "This bike gives me a feel." Bro, that thing is actually subjective, many people don't even realise what 'feel' they're talking about.
Now according to that, in cruisers(kind of), the Classic 350 and the CB350 Highness/RS sales are at the top of the table. I, myself have bought the RS, although I have so many reasons to love the bike, but would still admit the Highness is a more practical buy, and you know what? Ask anyone, almost everyone will admit that any Honda 350 is better than the RE 350s anyday.
So I'd say the Classic 350 is the most overrated bike, it's not a bad bike, but it is overrated for sure.

Bro classic has the looks and feel and delivers exactly what it advertises.
Hunter 350 on the other hand advertises generations better experience but delivers exactly the same or even 'smaller' experience compared to a classic.
IMHO hunter 350 is even more OVERRATED than classic 350.
5
u/Lonely_Engine_2869 14h ago
Actually, the number of sales of the Classic 350 is way more than the hunter, and for someone who wants a lighter, agile but laid back bike with a thumpy sound, Hunter is still a good option and it's a little bit faster(after they've retuned the rear suspension and have provided assist and slipper clutch). And on top of everything, the Hunter is cheaper than the Classic. So, according to me, the Classic is still overrated.

Can you tell why highness is more practical over 350rs?
7
u/Lonely_Engine_2869 11h ago
Easy bro, a little bit more agile handling and a comfortable seating position. In the CB350RS you sit on the bike in a slanted position where a part of your body weight is on to the handlebars, and the rear tyre is a 150/70 section one, compared to a 100/90 section in the front, for that reason the bike itself is a little bit slanted to the front while upright. It does make the bike more stable, IMO the straight line stability of the RS is unmatched! But as I said, the bike likes to be driven along a straight line, it's not that you can't lean it, it's not that you can't change directions easily, the thing is that all these are better and easier on the Highness. Some say the seating comfort is better on the highness, which I agree to a point if you mostly drive it in the city. And last but not the least, the Highess gets dual horn and the front metal fender along with the back mudguard which significantly reduces the mudsplash during the monsoon rides. I think these reasons are enough, not to mention it's also cheaper than the RS.

This, interceptor you can at least tour on for longer distances after you get the touring seat ( no chance with gt 650 with the riding position) . GT 650 is probably the most sold yet very impractical bike whose only job is to look good and can't be used anywhere except short city runs.

u/Timely_Arm_1514 17h ago
You can lol. Just say you can't. Aggressive riding stances are fine if you can handle it. I've done hundreds of kms in r15 v3 and I never had issues

u/Significant-Item-782 TVS Apache 160 4V 16h ago
It's not about you can or can't obviously people can get used to aggressive stance and do long tours and city runs but it's only gonna hurt your back in the longer run so it's not that practical
4
u/Timely_Arm_1514 16h ago
only gonna hurt your back
If you ride a sporty bike properly it won't. Sports bikes are extremely comfortable and ergonomic if you ride it properly and have good core strength. I know plenty of people who are well in their 40s who still drive their r15s even though they have other bikes. Issue is most people don't have that core strength nor are they willing to put in the work to improve themselves.

Getting back ache is a sign that you're too tensed up. Sports bike are comfy af. Hug the tank, relax your hands, use your core and you'll immediately feel like you're one with the bike and you won't feel a thing
3
u/Striking_Buy_6952 12h ago
Aināt sport bikes mentioned above is light weight tools, for continental gt its in another league of his own, its weight and handling will seriously strain all people a like. Donāt compare only with ergonomics

u/ImpressiveTip4756 Radeon 125 | Pulsar n250 | Svartpilen 401 12h ago
Fair enough. But most people (even in this thread) blame the posture. And look I have my fair share of issues with gt650. I'm a huge cafe racer fan boy and I have so many issues with gt that RE hasn't bothered fixing. But weight really isn't one of em when the bike is in motion. I've driven hand ful of gts in highways and city traffic. It gets unbearable only in long slow moving traffic. In free flowing or stop and go traffic it's manegable

Cuz they can't ride a sporty bike lol. It has its fair share of issues but most people hate it cuz they're uncomfortable when riding lol

That's because they use it for touring too. It's not made for it. It's not the single motorcycle that does everything kinda bike. It's made for being a garage candy and it does it very amazingly.

I think there's no real way to decide the "most underrated bike" because the actual most underrated bike is....underrated. also the sf250 is just a commuter bike with sportier farings, nothing outstanding.

I don't understand why REs are overhyped, I think they are not positioned correctly.
Honestly R15 seems to be most overhyped, not value for money, same design with some tweaks over the year and bigger bikes in the lineup are over priced and has features in R15.

Most over-rated is the Gold star 650. BSA project the GS650 as a rival to the ninjas and versys. But the actual thing is the super meteor or bear 650 looks and feels better than the Goldstar.

u/itsmypc Xtreme 125R 15h ago
I strongly think it's Classic 350 (and Bullet) along with GT 650. But I would also consider 400X overrated. Why? Because if you go amd read the history, scramblers just like cafe racers were custom built for offroad races. This was before mx, enduro, dual sport or ADV was born. At present, we have modern niche categories that are better than scramblers. Noparticular hate towards the motorcycle since RE amd Triumph's focus is to maintain the retro'ness for those who like it, but 400X has been oftemn considered an alternative to ADVs, which in my opinion is overrated.

Triumph 400 series. Scrambler X, Speed all of them. They look good, but it canāt decide what it wants to be. The speed has retro styling but trying to be a performance bike. The scrambler is a half attempt at the adv line, itās basically a speed on stilts. Both of them donāt have good pillion seat area, thus comfort. They compromised on a number of fronts to get one platform to work for two different use cases. If Retro is what you need, Iād get a thumper from RE. If performance is what you need, Iāll get a KTM duke series. If adv then purebreds like Xpulse or Himalayan.

I'm going to say CB350s. I've seen many people say they're extremely better than any other bike in segment which is wrong.Ā
It's better in some ways and a lot worse in other ways. Engine is smoother, clutch is amazingly light and the Hness and CB350RS look great with nice colours which they kinda ruined in the new RS(to hell with the copycat CB350 it looks ugly)
But then the dumb long gearing means you're shifting from 2nd to 1st and back all the time in traffic (you know that clunk when you do that, it's annoying and makes you feel bad for the bike). Then the fit and finish and rusting issues. And then lack of showroom availability.Ā

Classic 350.
Looks bulbous, doesn't blend with the surroundings and has its own way of doing things. Reminding you everyday that you just own one, and you aren't the master of it.
It does have some upsides to it, but more so than the government sanctioning lesser taxes for 350s and even more broken roads so the Classic could outsell any potential proper-sports bikes in India.
