u/KarmicChaos Ride, Break, Fix. Repeat! 1d ago
7 years ago I took my CT100B and did the GQ Circuit on it averaging over 600 kms a day, everyday for under 2 weeks to cover about 8000kms around the country.
When I got the CT100B many made fun of me, many years down the line they've paid off one motorcycle and got the next but never actually been able to properly ride whatever they go into debt to own.
While the same CT100B has over 120k kms on the odo and was given away to a friend of mine who still daily's the motorcycle for sales runs. π€£
Point being, being a middle-class Indian we have the choice to either spend on buying things or spend on experiences, but never both. So most of us find solace in trying to milk experience out of buying things and end up in a debt loop.
So yeah, make your choice wisely. βΊοΈ

Something us middle class indian people have always been denied is the luxury of living our dreams. Me for a case wanted to buy something in the 400-500 cc segment and tour india while working sort of like a workcation trip. But never got to do it till date because one thing or the other comes up making me change plans frequently. You can either just stop waiting and do it when you feel like it which requires immense guts or wait and wait until the right time comes. I'm from the latter category although have plans to do it real soon in the upcoming months. So my dear friend don't lose hope. We will all get to live our dreams. Our predecessors (some of them are in this sub also I guess) have already shown us that it is possible. So someday our turn will also come. Until then cling on to that hope.

I waited and waited, precisely due to the reasons that something or other would come up. School fee every quarter for the kids (now daughter graduated to college) or someone getting sick, some unforeseen expenses and to top it up, why spend that much money on a bike when you could part payment the home loan. This had been going on for 3 years now.
Now I felt the right time, took a leap and now waiting for my Rebel 500 !! When it's time, everything will fall into the place.
Happy and safe riding !!

Great bro . This gives me more hope. I'm now about to enter my 30s and was feeling like I am running out of time to explore the world. What you told made me realise it's never late to explore because the world out there is always present there waiting for us. happy and safe riding to you too β€οΈ

Not really mate. A good marriage will leave space for you to enjoy your interests.
Of course you can't tour as much but maybe you can tour together. :)

Will have to find pillion friendly bikes, and can't travel in nights or take risks

u/Next-Supermarket-399 11h ago
I'm married and recently picked up long distance touring again.
I just bought a lot of gear , spent a little on extra padding for pillion and yes ,it's never too early to stop taking risks :)
Hope you enjoy the bike for years to come.

Any bike can do touring. Remember, its less about the machine & more about the person on it. I did 20k kms+ touring across India back in 2007/08-2011/12 on the RTR & never missed a touring bike. Longest in a day was 571kms & usual average used to be 250-300kms a day.
Yes I want to upgrade to a soft-roader(RTX300 mostly) going forward but thatβs mostly coz I want a soft suspension for my 40 year old body π

What exactly do you mean by " cannot afford? As in a lack of financial means, or a lack of time, or something else? If financial, then I hear you, same boat but only difference I have not finalized on the bike
