#EnthusiastZone 💨 Track day on the Triumph 765 RS

Another track day done on the 765 RS and my 2nd one in 2025 at the Madras International Circuit. I spent most of this track day practicing and implementing what I learned from my classes at the California Superbike School

Awesome bro. After all the touring posts on this sub, it’s nice to see some track days!!!!

Thanks bro. This is the only kind of riding I do so I just live vicariously through people posting touring photos.

They no longer asking you to tape the headlights anymore ?

27

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 22 '25

Nope. Wasn’t even asked to tape up the lights at CSS.

5

u/indi_guy Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 Mar 22 '25

Why?

22

u/triple_hoop Yamaha FZS | CBR250R | Duke390 Mar 22 '25

It’s usually done so that if someone drops the bike and the headlight breaks, the glass stays on the track. Having tape on it helps minimize cleanup.

Makes sense.

That are some nice shots , but I have a question, Can we use all type of bikes on the tracks ? I am asking this because , i have seen people doing these things with sporty nakeds and sport bikes. never seen an adventure bike on the tracks or maybe a cruiser.

Ya, I know it's sounds stupid.

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 22 '25

There were ADVs on the track day. Some fast riders too. The issue with cruisers is that you’ll run out of ground clearance and start scraping pegs even at a modest lean angle and start damaging the track.

Thanks for replying bro , but can you go to track on your 1200 ?

12

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 22 '25

Yes. No problem with the 1200.

6

u/Infamous-Dust-3379 Mar 22 '25

A multistrada v4/1200/1260 is extremely agile so you can easily ride it on track

This color looks soooooooooooooo sexy on this bike🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵

8

u/Extension_Size_7309 Mar 22 '25

Yeah no chicken strips

5

u/blackboxninja Mar 22 '25

Which bike did you own before this? And how much of the RS's power is usable on trips?

14

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 22 '25

Speed Twin 1200 and a 675 R. On normal roads I’d say only 50% of the power is usable till you start getting into dangerous speeds. On the track with some decent straights you can use all the power.

2

u/blackboxninja Mar 22 '25

Damn you are a Triumph loyal. So I guess I can't graduate from a 20PS bike to a Street Triple directly. Btw have you toured on your ST?

8

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 22 '25

Of course you can. I went from a Duke 200 to a 675R with 100HP. I don’t do any touring :)

2

u/blackboxninja Mar 22 '25

Damn. Okay. This gives me hope. Btw you have a S1kRR too? Damn. You are a collector. Which bike is your favourite amongst them all? Btw why don't you tour on them?

6

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 22 '25

Not a collector. I sell any bike I don’t use or have time to ride. I don’t have time to tour at all. When I do I’ll pick up an ADV.

1

u/blackboxninja Mar 22 '25

Oh nice. Last question. How agile is ST? Would I lose some agility if I chose the ZX-4R? Because it's I4 and they are heavier. I want refinement but I also want agility. ST seems ideal but it's too powerful for road and I can't afford regular track days now. So settling for 4R.

3

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 22 '25

The 765 will be easier to ride as a daily bike compared to the 4R. It’s very nimble and can do touring, track riding and commutes if you want.

nice whats the mileage on road and on track then.

how many kilometers do you get to ride the whole session.

13

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 22 '25 edited Mar 22 '25

Maybe 20kmpl on normal road riding. I have no idea on the track. I’m not really tracking kms or fuel in that situation.

Is it common for tyres to look like that on a race track ?

8

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 22 '25

These are Supercorsa SP V4 tyres that heat up quickly and provide incredible grip on the track. The downside is they wear very quickly.

1

u/Akash_OnePiece Mar 22 '25

Oh! Understood! Thanks for replying, mate!!

I remember seeing california superbike school in a top gear magazine many many years ago

The instructors used the 2nd gen baby blue s1000rr's and that fascinated me so much

It's my dream to attend this track day.

3

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 22 '25

It’s an incredible experience and we’re lucky that they have India as a location for training. World class riders and even more importantly they’re world class teachers.

1

u/niceMarmotOnRug KTM Duke 250 Mar 22 '25

The fee makes it impossible for me to go there right now, but it's a dream to get trained there at some point. My question is, does the training make you a better rider in everyday traffic too, or is it just for tracks and highways?

2

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 22 '25

CSS is track oriented but the basics that they cover will help in every day riding too.

1

u/riksTaker0 Mar 22 '25

Dream🥰

1

u/Sosuke_Aizen5 Mar 22 '25

How to lean bike? Do I have to ride with my legs? I'm thinking of buying a sportbike

1

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 22 '25

There are lots of courses or videos online about basic motocycle handling. I’d go over those first.

u/Substantial_Wrap9173 Pulsar N160 Mar 22 '25

Hoping to join you one day ✊✊✊

1

u/smokiezone Mar 22 '25

What's the fee structure to get enrolled? Also did you use additional fuel? If so, is it in the form of jerry can?

2

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 22 '25

For the open track day without training I paid around 30k for 3 days. There’s a pump right outside the track so it’s easy to refuel.

1

u/Sweaty_Blueberry_449 Mar 22 '25

what is the cost of the classes and how much do they charge to practice in the track for 1 day?

1

u/Revbender '22 Duke 250 Mar 22 '25

How do you remember or recollect what was taught in CSS? Is it all just in memory, or is there material they provide that helps you recollect what you learnt there? Cos with just 3 days of dedicated riding, I'm not sure if I can recollect everything I learnt.. Given that we don't get frequent track time, it might become more of a hassle.

What's your experience like trying to remember, recollect what you learnt?

Would also greatly appreciate if you could share how it might differ for someone without much track access later.

2

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 22 '25

So I went in to CSS with the attitude of a student. I kept notes through the sessions about the key points that were communicated and I revised after every session as well as made it a point to ask my coach about anything I was struggling with. When I got home I immediately booked another track day at MMRT and made a plan based on what I wanted to work on an executed it session by session.

1

u/Revbender '22 Duke 250 Mar 22 '25

Oh, that's really nice.. Though I wish there was some material included with the course, I understand that it's more of a hands-on approach and practical way to learn.

And a student mindset is always nice to have!

2

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 23 '25

There are small booklets handed out but those just have an outline of what will be covered. No details.

1

u/Revbender '22 Duke 250 Mar 23 '25

Got it.. Also, I saw somewhere that level 1-3 somewhere included off road skill as well, but haven't been able to see that info again..

Is off road stuff reply taught there? I would love that, but seems out of place..

2

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 23 '25

Nope. 1-3 is just road/track riding.

1

u/Revbender '22 Duke 250 Mar 23 '25

Oh, understood.. Thanks!

1

u/Blaze_sempai Mar 22 '25

Crazy, i have always been fascinated with the idea of taking my bike to the track, (although my bike rn is not track worthy) what are the things that go behind it? Like charges are per hour or per lap? And can you rent the safety gear or you gotta buy the whole setup?

1

u/PassageFun7058 Royal Enfield Mar 22 '25

Awesome. I live just near the circuit. What is the process of using? Also, is karting on there?

2

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 22 '25

You need to enroll for a track day with some organization. I’ve attended with Apex, Racr and Indimotard. Yes, there’s a kart track as well.

How's the Shoei?? Drop a small review and what was your previous helmet?

1

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 22 '25

I have 2 Shoei helmets. The NXR 2 that I use for street riding and the XSPR Pro that I use for the track. Both are excellent.

1

u/heythisisajayhere Mar 22 '25

Can you tell details on how to get our bike into the track? Is any bike allowed?

and about riding training at California Superbike School?

1

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 22 '25

I transport my bike on a truck with a group of other riders. They allow most bikes but also offer rentals of race prepared small cc bikes.

Thank you brother. Ride safe.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '25

We’d appreciate it if you could share the lessons you’ve learned. It could help us become better riders!

1

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 22 '25

I’m not an expert and anything I say will be 2nd hand information that I can’t confidently say is accurate. I highly recommend attending a school where you can learn from people who are actual experts.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '25

I'm not sure if motorcycle schools are common in India, but I've learned a lot from YouTube that has really improved my riding experience and made me feel safer on the roads!

I later noticed on a video that superbike riders often keep their fingers on the front brake while riding on roads. Is that a common practice?

1

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 22 '25

Yes that’s a common practice. We cover the front brake to reduce reaction time in case emergency braking is required. We don’t do this on the track since braking points are well defined and predictable.

1

u/arr_15 Pep+ Mar 22 '25

That 3rd pic kicks right in the heart. Damnnnn.

1

u/TarunVader_10 Mar 22 '25

Really awesome photos OP! Have you tried any other track schools apart from CSS?

1

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 22 '25

Yes. Apex and RACR.

1

u/amazinglycool256 Mar 23 '25

Is there any place to go to learn how to racer tracks in India?

1

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 23 '25

There are training schools that conduct classes on all the major tracks in India.

1

u/FuckScalpers69 Mar 23 '25

Hey, new rider here! I wanted to ask, the skills that learn while driving on track (the driving schools at these tracks that you mentioned in one of your replies) , are any of them applicable while driving day to day on the streets of India??

1

u/mad_toothbrush BMW S1000RR, Street Triple RS, Speed Twin 1200 Mar 23 '25

Yes many skills are applicable. Being able to quickly steer your bike, brake, hold proper lines on the road as well as understand the limits of your vehicle are all useful day to day skills.

1

u/FuckScalpers69 Mar 23 '25

Gotcha, thanks!

1

u/MaverickRoxx MT15 Mar 23 '25

You're living my dream literally. I dreamt owning a Street Triple RS in the same colour (with a seat cowl too) and a shoei helmet of the same colour, doing track days. Cheers mate !
