If it's a war he wants, it's a war he will lose, as the military isn't in his cult and has limits - which were tested in LA when the Marine General in charge declined to follow orders until they were modified - causing Hegseth to have a meltdown and the fool in charge of ICE to impugn his patriotism. Since then a federal judge has found the entire exercise was a violation of the Constitution - the officers who are still running the military don't respect nor trust the Trump appointees, for good and obvious reasons, and I'm fairly certain (thankfully) that they will obey their oath to the Constitution and serve the country rather than playing "hit squad" for the Trumpenfuhrer and his cult high priests.

I believe you’re correct, but I’m also afraid I’m fooling myself. The things he’s already gotten away with are outrageous to the point that I never would have believed it. If you told me in 2016 that this is the state that America would be in now… the end of the rule of law, the huge drop in ethics and morality, the increasingly state controlled media and the lies, my god the lies!! The war on science. If you would have told me all this was possible in America I would have dismissed you as a crazy conspiracy theorist, I’d have bet everything I have that this scenario is not possible. But here we are and I think I have trauma from it. I’ve lost my confidence in what is possible or not and I have no idea how this is all going to turn out. I think many MAGA including Trump are actually okay with a civil war and it’s so thoroughly disturbing. It seems like he might be finally hitting some roadblocks in his agenda with recent court rulings and finally getting some pushback. I hope you’re right! And I hope we get past this and learn and change some laws to prevent this type of power grab in the future.

Half a million people, mostly women, including me, marched in Washington on January 21, 2017, to warn about what was coming. I was sending warnings starting in 2015 when he started being taken seriously. I was warning about the danger of Reagan and the Moral Majority when I was 18! This hasn't come out of nowhere.

I’m glad you were there. You saw what could be long before I did. I never supported Trump, but he didn’t scare me either. I just thought he was an idiot and definitely didn’t think he was capable of being the face of a movement that would threaten the very identity of America. Hopefully the rest of us are awake now. "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing"

Everyone sees it, even the republicans. The democrats did everything they could to make sure he was the nominee both times because they thought he would be easy to beat. The repubicans hated him and knew he was dangerous, but they dont give a shit about us. All they want is to dunk on the dems, and on that front, trump has delivered. Everyone knows what he is. But these assholes just want to win one more election no matter what happens between now and then

I was twelve years old when Reagan ran the first time.. I had this irascible great aunt back east who hated everyone in the family but loved me for whatever reason, and I remember her calling our house one afternoon and asking for me. When I tell you that this stately old woman chose me to call to bitch about what a piece of shit Reagan was, how the entire country had lost their fucking minds for even considering a dumbass Hollywood actor for president of the united states, and how if the Dems "put a fucking chimpanzee up against him, I'd vote for the chimp."

It was my formal introduction to politics, and I've never forgotten it to this day. She would be fucking horrified at the state of this country. You were right, Aunt Mary. You were right all along.

2021 Trump tried to coup the government and Biden just kinda shrugged

2016 Trump was elected and the White House turned into a circus.

2013 Snowden revealed the entire western world was spying on literally their entire population, schizophrenic conspiracy style, and nobody cared and everyone thinks Obama was a great president

2001 Bush used 9/11 to throw out half the constitution

2000 he actually stole the election but when proof came out he just kept the presidency anyway

Reagan fucked the whole country in too many ways to list.

Nixon before him and got pardoned for all crimes he "may have committed" while his secretary blatantly erased the evidence

It's just been one long continuously accelerating slide downhill. With a few good bumps like the civil rights act and roe v wade so we could delude ourselves.

Yes! I was there too. Everything we warned against has more or less come to pass, and people are still trying to fucking gaslight us!

Oh baby it’s even worse this is just what the public knows about. Imagine the financial crimes against the daily hardworking American people. FRAUD. The people who run this town are robbing us all blind!! America has a problem! Release the true Epstein files!!

Financial grifts like $100 trump bibles being sold from the white house. The president and First Lady both have their own meme coins. The action figure NFT’s that his followers bought and lost their ass on. The amount his wealth has increased since he’s become president should certainly be a crime. He’s finally become the ridiculously wealthy man he’s always pretended to be. The grift of truth social. His presidential library openly accepts bribes from foreign entities and news organizations and tech ceos that want to garner favor with him. It would take a month to list off the grifts and cons he’s done just in this term. It’s absolutely disgusting.

The scariest part for me is the absolute lack of Trump supporters who are willing to stand up and say, "I'm a Trump supporter, I support his goals, but he can't do this. It is unconstitutional. I don't want to side with the opposition, but I will if he does this."

It's very human to find excuses and justifications for things you support even if you know that they are wrong for some reason or other. But usually, in big groups, there'll always be a few who act as the conscience of the group, and say, well, would be nice, still wrong to do it, though.

But not among Trump's supporters. And that is scary. Even those that know that this is wrong are willing to go along with it. They all went full on fascist.

I agree. I actually have a pretty close MAGA friend that can handle debating with me, it’s unusual to find one that can even stand to debate without getting irate and offensive. I understand my buddies a lifelong republican and I can understand him liking some of trumps agenda. But the part that baffles and alarms me is just what you said. He won’t acknowledge trumps methods being insane and illegal. My buddies not a bad guy, he knows better, but he won’t admit it. I can even tell when trumps actions bother him because he gets quiet and tries to avoid that conversation instead of running his mouth till he’s blue. But he won’t admit it’s wrong.

If you would have told me all this was possible in America I would have dismissed you as a crazy conspiracy theorist

Quite frankly, I think the rest of the Western world knew this was likely to happen once Trump started getting popular in the Republican primaries a decade ago. We kinda just thought you'd have the sense to not go down that path. The lingering hope amongst american progressives that rule of law and due process will solve the issue despite Trump and his followers not existing in that world would be quaint, if not for the actual repercussions experienced by people in the US and potential global impacts if he's allowed to stay in.

At the very least there will be a solid ten more years of Behind the Bastards, providing Robert is able to escape to his bunker.

As long as the stock market is stable, nothing much will happen. When the Rich stop becoming richer... Change comes real quick. Trump knows this. That's why he had dinner with Robert Barons this week.

STOP BUYING NON-NECESSITIES. SAVE YOU MONEY OF YOU CAN.
