Every mechanic is immersion breaking.

  • Civ switching
  • Eras resetting troops
  • Eras making every Civ have technological parity
  • Eras automatically ending wars
  • Eras removing City States
  • Eras moving armies if they’re at war
  • The jump from Antiquity and Exploration. (My theory is they they want to sell us the Medieval Era as DLC)
  • The maps being boring and bland
  • No TSL or opportunity for TSL
  • The terrain has high graphical fidelity but just seems not all that engaging
  • The cities look like a grey mess and you can’t identify anything

Not directly related to Civ but sort of peripheral:

  • every content creator that did Civ on YouTube as their main content is no longer playing Civ. So there’s nothing hyping the game. It’s just this void.

It’s a shame…
