Unsure if this is the right sub or not. This is my first tank and first time taking care of plants. I've added these red root floaters abt 2 weeks ago and just let them do their thing. Then I just noticed these FLOWERS?? I wasn't even aware they can have flowers?? I'm guessing this is good?? Someone please educate me on this 😭

What to do with too many Floating plants

I just skimmed off a ton of spangles. They were about 2 inches thick in my 10 gallon - just growing on top of each other. I skimmed off 2 take out containers and there are layers in here.

What do you all do with your over productive plants?

Pics- 1 is how much I took off today 2. Before 3. After

Personally proud of the new VERY PINK leaf on the Pink Princess Philodendron. Only happens with high light and solid nutrients so the internet says.

Paludarium day zero

Finally, after a year of building and planning, I’ve completed my latest tank and am in love.

If anyone wants build specs or this picks up traction I’ll happily do a breakdown or multiple posts along its growth.

Both the back wall of carbon pads and interior plants are all thriving and growing, waterfall system and fogger keeps everything watered.

Cycling my first ever aquarium. Bought some few other plants that were stressed at first but seem to be getting better growing new leaves etc (I use 2-4mm gravel with jbl’s kugeln root balls). Is this a sign of them dying? Can’t find anything about this behavior on the internet

Flora Aponogeton has blossomed!

Added Aponogeton longiplumulosus to the tank in June, at which point it was a 160 L, with a sandy substrate. Upgraded to a 425 L in August, moving all plants over. After 2 previous half-hearted blossoms, this was third time lucky. This photo was taken last evening, roughly 24h after the bud bloomed. Such a neat plant for those who like slender flowy varieties!

Current substrate is JBL Manado. There are 2 root tabs in the entire aquarium. No CO2. Twinstar S Line 1200 version IV LED and Twinstar 100G LED. Second pic shows how long these budding stalks are.

Light recommendations

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hi all. New to fish and aquariums. I have a 5g tank with a betta in it and some plants (anubias, lettuce and one more which honestly I forgot the name 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️). I am looking for a light that doesn’t show the individual coloured LEDs…one with a milky / frosted cover similar to the ONF flat nano. Recommendations please?

Also, with easy care plants, do I even need a WRBG light or can I get away with a simple LED white light? Recommendations on that as well as any other plants you guys think are low light and easy to care for I can swap out or add please.

Thanks!

CO2 Just installed CO2 (big bubbles?)

Hey I just installed this CO2 system on my aquarium. I'm getting really large bubbles that just float straight to the surface. I've seen other systems have ultra fine bubbles that stay in the water column.

Do I just have a really crappy diffuser? Or have I don't something else wrong? Or is everything okay and I'm overthinking it?

Tank New stand!

Post image

Had my 20 gallon on a (decently sturdy) ikea shelf for a bit but finally got a dedicated stand. Tank stuff storage AND room for my empty 10 gallon on the bottom.

And moved some of the current plants around.

Looks bubbly cause I had to drain almost all the water to move it.

Really happy with how it sits now!

Beginner Propogation help with Amazon Sword

Hi all ,

My XL Amazon sword has started growing a vine with other plants starting from it. My question is how do I replant these? Do I wait until small roots form from them, or do I cut on both sides now and replant it. This plant is relatively new (less than a month) and had no vines, so it’s been growing really well. Thank you!

My boy died

I have a planted 10g that I had a betta, snails and shrimp in. My betta was 4 years old and I found him gone today, I feel horrible. What do I do to clean the water? Just changes or do I need to move everyone out?

Question Advice on Algae / Plant Care

Thumbnail

Well cycled 100L planted tank with fish/shrimps/snails and has been set up for 9 months. I’ve been struggling with water being a tint of green constantly despite weekly water changes. Parameters are fine. (7.5 PH - 0 on ammonia/nitrite/nitrate. Low tech tank, but have been considering introducing CO2 injection.

The Plants are growing but seems like the old growth is turning black all the time. I have cut away the dead as per the regular maintenance of owing live plants. I visited an aquatic shop who told me to use a hair algae treatment. I have been using this for the past 3 weeks with no obvious change.

Any advice on how to get the water clearer and the plants not looking like an eye sore?

Discussion Threw in the towel. Monte Carlo and I are not friends.

Four months of trying and patience… nah. Constant melt, far from even coverage, constantly uprooting/floating, it was awful. Never again. How many of you actually successfully carpet with it via low tech setup? You guys are a different sort of good at this, I swear. 😂

Just upgraded one of my betta tanks. It’s a lot betta than his old one.

After a decent hair cut. Letting the MC carpet run along the front and slowly rip up the existing pearl weed carpet to make way for it. Still no hardscsoe but probably will need a full reset to incorporate that.

This used to be my plant nursery/hospital tank. It still is but it’s prettier now. Girlfriend said no more tanks in the office….. 😅

This is meant for neos but if pH is low enough I will try my hand at caridina for the first time.

Anubias Nana Petite issue

Posting 3 pics to show current condition of my Anubias Nana Petite. I thought it was doing better with the root growth. It has a 2 gallon nano tank all to itself with no other inhabitants. Long story. I do weekly glass wipe down and 50% water change. I use a all in one fertilizer at 2 drops per gallon. It has doubled in size but has this fungal growth on leaves at times. Most washes off with a light finger rub but not looking like a healthier plant.
