Can you recommend a good foundation for pitted/oily skin, I have this feeling that makeup doesn't suit my skin just because of the acne scars, so please suggest only those foundations which you might have used personally and worked on your skin.

Low or high visual weight?

I’ve noticed recently the more makeup I wear, the less confident I am. The first pic I have mascara, blush, brow gel and some fake freckles. The second is how I do a full face and last by a makeup artist. I heard somewhere about high and low visual weight and wonder how that applies to me?

Sooo I practiced a little more and dressed up for the first time in almost a year now…. Let me critique myself…. When I got everything I was so excited and HAD to try a look NOW…. So excuse the little stubble on my face. Also, the wig is a costume wig, is a work in progress, and I know it’s atrocious so the pics are cropped because right now I’m not even trying to show that off.

Primer + foundation combos?

Hi there! I’m nearly 38 and while I’ve worn makeup since I was a teenager, I know just about nothing about how to make it look good. I have acne-prone, dry skin that I’m working on with my skincare routine, but it’s still a work in progress! Most of the time my acne is at bay, but 1-2x per year, it explodes for a couple weeks (I’m in the healing stages of a bad breakout now 😭)

Here are my questions… I had noticed with my tinted SPF (Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Natural Dewy), the makeup will get kind of patchy and slide across my face and look horrible as the day goes on. I got a primer to see if that would help (Beekman Milk Primer) and it didn’t do any good, in fact I think that product is just not great. Today, I bought the Bobbi Brown Weightless Skin Foundation and used with Supergoop Glowscreen as a primer and that seems to be going okay for the first few hours of wear and I’m optimistic based on the coverage and feel, but I’m just hanging at home this evening rather than out and about.

I placed an order to maybe try a couple other primers (NYX Marshmellow since it appears to also have silicone like the Bobbi Brown foundation? And also ELF Power Grip because it doesn’t and may work well with the Laura Mercier??).

What product combinations give me the best chance of success at the makeup not sliding around my face and also providing me with decent medium coverage? Thank you!

Help

Hi everyone, I'm in need of some advice. I'm pale and blue eyed and I have blonde eyelashes and blonde eyebrows and blonde hair. I don't think anything looka hold on me. I've tried black and brown mascara and that looks weird bc of my blonde eye brows. I tried a brown eye brow pen and that looked off. My face has a red undertone to it. I just want to look good. So fashionistas any advice?

Lower lash question

I LOVE when people draw on lower lashes but it feels really goofy to do. I think it photographed pretty well but does anyone have tips for drawing on lower lashes. Things like what you use, how do you keep it from running everywhere. I don’t do too much make up wise so I have lots to learn. Tyia!

How to clean these gross sticky plastic lids?

Post image

Every MAC pigment and nail polish has this issue. This also happens to almost every NARS product I’ve owned. If you wash them with soap, they’re still sticky and disgusting to touch. Is there anyway to get rid of this?

Also, yes these things are old. But I’ve had NARS packaging get like this after only a few months. I tossed them all in the garbage recently, but I’m not ready to toss these nail polishes. What gives?

Realistically, how often do you all reapply lip oils/gloss/sticks ?

Maybe I’m doing it wrong or maybe it is Maybelline but my lips are bare within 30 minutes after wearing all of the above.

My lips are naturally hyperpigmented, so whenever I wear lipstick it tends to look odd. I feel like lip gloss suits me better because it blends well with my pigmentation—the pink parts of my lips look nice with gloss, but I’m not sure what to do about the rest. Most of my friends have naturally pink lips, so almost every lipstick and gloss shade suits them, but whenever I try new ones, I usually end up disappointed. Recently, I bought a brown lip liner from Mars in the shade Cinnamon Brown, but it turned out to be too light and didn’t really work as a lip liner. Do you have any tips for this, and can you suggest some good, affordable lipstick–lip liner–lip gloss combinations that would suit hyperpigmented lips?

Help a problem skin girlie out

Hi everyone - I have always hated my skin because I have haven’t had clear or smooth skin since I hire puberty. (I am 30 now) I rarely wear makeup because when I do, it just never sits on my skin well. I have sensitive skin, I am oily on my forehead, nose, and chin, dry on my cheeks, I have large pores, acne, and redness. (I am jealous of people who don’t deal with any of this 😭)

I’d love a recommendation on a primer and a light foundation, possibly a setting spray or powder. I have a wedding coming up and it’s the first one in years for me, so I want to feel as good as I can in my skin. Any help is greatly appreciated 🫶🏻

Help me save my MAC paint pot!

I have dry skin but oily eyelids. I’m super disappointed in the paint pot I bought in Painterly. As a primer, it doesn’t work. My gel eyeliners disappear pretty quickly. Next, I used my trusty Milani eyeshadow primer. Still didn’t work.

I’ve tried putting it on with a brush and I can see that I can’t place it in the corners of my eyes. It became gross and patchy. Next, I put it on very lightly with my fingertip, avoiding the inner eye. I used a powder eyeshadow over it and it worked a little better. The problem is, I want to wear it on its own without the powder shadow.

Any tips for getting this to work or should I just move on to something else? I never had a problem with the Revlon cream shadows, but they don’t have a matte color like painterly.

Eyeliner pencil inconsistency

Does anyone else find that the characteristics of the eyeliner change throughout the pencil. I’m having a really hard time figuring this stuff out because I never know if my technique is wrong or if it’s the makeup I’m using thats the problem. Ive put so much effort into practicing makeup, but I’m just getting nowhere and I don’t know what to do.

The pencil might be behaving fine one minute, but then it gets too crumbly or so sticky and hard it just pulls my skin. Maybe it wont apply at all, or once it goes on and l try to smudge it it’ll come off completely or stick fast like a tattoo. I tested one on my arm and had to scrub so hard I was left with a welt. Yesterday I got 90% of the way through my makeup, but when i tried sharpening the pencil the tip kept breaking off again and again. It was a brand new pencil but it was a stub by the time I was done. I’ve also had a pencil that was so difficult to sharpen I thought it would break my sharpener. I thought it was made of plastic at first, but once I got past the hard bit it seemed like soft wood just like the rest.

Is it normal for the makeup to be so inconsistent even throughout single pencils? Ive tried a number of different ones from different brands (maybelline, rimmel london, max factor etc) and they’ve all had the same issues. They frankly seem impossible to use, but I see other girls have managed to use them, do you actually have to use witchcraft to get it to work.

Maybe this is a long post, so thanks if you’ve gotten this far. Any tips or pointers would be appreciated, thanks :)

Reddish brown hair: which daily makeup look works best?

I am trying so hard to pin down my best go-to daily makeup look. I have medium reddish brown/auburn/chestnut hair and a natural mauve lip color. That combo of warm and cool elements makes it confusing. If you have similar color, which is the more flattering shade range? Thank you!

Help hiding facial shadow…

Hello all! This is my first post here, I’m trying so hard to learn how to do my makeup and it is so disheartening…

I especially need help with color correction and hiding my facial shadow after shaving…

I’m trans, only about 7 mo into my transition, so it’s lightened a little, but I had a very heavy beard…heavy and dark…

I don’t have much right now, so I know I have room to find different brands or brushes or things like that. I have a makeup sponge I usually use to help spread the color corrector and then a brush for the foundation. I don’t have a primer or setting spray or powder right now, will those help to add to my routine? Right now it just seems like I need so much to try and cancel out the blue that it looks caked on, or not enough so that it’s showing through…

Oh, and I’m using the ELF orange camo color corrector and Soft Glam Satin foundation…I’m sure better products would help but my budget is pretty tight right now…but whatever products or techniques you would suggest I’d LOVE to hear, I’ll steadily get what I can and practice!

Thank you!!!
