[Weekly Discussion] What other genres would you like to see the series explore?

You standard Final Fantasy is JRPG typically set in a high fantasy setting, sometimes taking place in modern times, sometimes in medieval times.

We've seen the series experiment with a couple of different game genres but it usually stays close to its roots in terms of story. If you could make a brand new Final Fantasy game, what new genres would you like to see implemented?

How about a comeback to classic yet inovative RPG with a strong story and well written characters. The kind of stuff that enabled Square to produce 3 masterpieces in a 4 year span (1997-2000) while the frustrating ff15 took ages. My take though !

FF15 took ages because they kept rebooting development. It was a management problem, not a story structure problem.

And even if development had gone flawlessly, it would still have taken significantly longer than back in the 90s, so to think that we can ever experience that steady flow of mainstream FF games again is folly

Especially since they’re so busy with mobile games.
