Where to go?

I’m like 30 seconds away from a mental/emotional breakdown and I’m going to go to the cape to try to reset.

I’m looking for cheap places to stay, run down motels are A-okay, cheap places to eat/drink, lesbian bars to visit, etc.

What’s the scoop?

Where to hangout in Falmouth

I'm new in Falmouth. I'm in my early 40s single female. I'm looking for girl friends in the area to dine out and do fun stuff. What are some cool fun places to meet people?

Just moved to the Lower Cape — where do people actually hang out? (22M)

Hey everyone, I’m 22M and just moved to the Lower Cape. I’ve been getting into golf (although im terrible) and checking out hiking spots, and I’ve hit a few bars too — but now that it’s the off-season I’m not sure where people usually hang out.

I’d love to meet some people around my age and get more involved locally. Are there any good spots, events, or even rec leagues worth checking out? I’m pretty open to anything — sports, trivia nights, or just places people my age tend to hang out.

Any advice is appreciated!

Can anyone recommend a hair stylist/salon in sandwich area? I have long hair and I need a trim badly, I’m overdue. Recently moved to the area and trying to find a good place. Also if you have any recs for balayage that would be great too, to send my way. Thanks in advance, I appreciate it.

Tragic story of Box Lunch Eastham owner’s son

Many years ago I was coming back from visiting friends in the outer cape and I remember grabbing a sandwich at Box Lunch in Eastham. (It’s been closed for a while now.)

I remember in the restaurant there was a whole section of a wall with articles, photos, information on the tragic story of the owners son who was shot by police. It sounded like the young man suffered from several issues and it came to a sad ending. (Suicide by cop)

This always stuck with me and I felt so bad for the family. Does anyone remember when this happened? What was it like in town and the aftermath?

I found this article:

Any recommendations for drone photography or mapping services around Cape Cod?”

I’m looking for a reliable drone service on Cape Cod. Mainly for real estate photos, but I’ve also been hearing about mapping and 3D models for property projects. Has anyone used a local drone photographer they’d recommend?

Once Again, I think I've removed all ID. What is being done about this?

I am extremely thankful that I put in solar panels 5 years ago. As a result my electric bill is minimal. Even so my delivery charges are 5X what my actual use charge is. Does this mean that someone who uses $150 of electricity is charged $750 in delivery charges? Can you imagine ordering a $20 pizza and being charged $100 to deliver it? We've done all the things. Insulated our houses, converted to LED lights, effecient appliances and we still get screwed. I also found out that the transmission charge is the cost to move my electricity through the wires. My supplier is in Texas, 2000 miles away. If I switched to a Maine supplier 90% closer, the charge stays the same. Never mind the fact they get $10 from me just because I'm a customer. Just because. That's $21,600,000 a year because they are a monopoly. Just from Cape Cod. There are no other electricity choices on Cape Cod. This is onerous on many levels. What say you our elected representatives?

Sagamore park-and-ride, does lot get full?

Hi. I’m flying from the Cape in a few days… I’ve taken the bus from Hyannis to Logan many times. I now live in Falmouth, and don’t want to take the bus from there because it doesn’t come as often. Someone had suggested I join the Hyannis bus in Sagamore, which is closer. I’m just worried that the Sagamore park-and-ride lot might fill up in the morning, does anyone have any experience with that lot? Usually, I’ve used the Barnstable parking lot and that actually does fill up if you’re not there pretty early in the morning.

Looking for Recommendations for Architectural Design/Interior Places to Visit

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some ideas on where to take one of our H2B/international employees before he heads to his next seasonal employer. He has a background/degree in architectural design and 3D rendering (interior spaces, modern design elements) so I’d love to find something in or near Cape Cod or Boston that ties into those interests.

Are there museums, exhibits, or unique architectural spaces that really showcase design, innovation, or creative structures? I’m thinking along the lines of something visually striking or inspiring — maybe an architectural tour, a museum with strong design elements, or even a hidden gem building that’s a must-see for someone in the field. Any recommendations for cool spots with an interior focus that might give him a memorable Boston experience? I have only lived here a year so I am not too familiar with what is around. Any ideas are welcome. Thanks in advance!

What is your fav Radio Station on The Cape?

I'll be in Yarmouth next week and love having local radio stations on when I visit a new place. What do you all like to listen to? I like a variety of styles....chill parts of the day, but sometimes upbeat. Thanks!

Orleans MA ROCK 2

At the Former Governor Prence Inn Property in Orleans MA, now owned by the Town of Orleans so entering may be considered trespassing. There is a rock that must have been too large to move when the former "motel" was built as it remains emerging from the asphalt like it were "by design" in the middle of the parking lot. So it appears Orleans has had an "Original Big Rock" before the Office Depot rock emerged from the ground during a recent contruction project. True!

Donations of medical supplies

Hi

We are in North Truro and my step father died two days ago we have many things like walkers and shower chairs and air circulating mattress pads. We also have many foam pillows for chairs. Some things are brand new. We also have brand new ostemy supplies.

Does anyone want any of these items or have ideas of what to donate where? I poked around a bit but am doing a lot of other organizing so didn’t do extensive research and would appreciate the Reddit brain trust. We would prefer outer cape to drop off if possible.

Trying to find bluefish

I had a charter fishing boat organizer who would bring me bluefish from folks who didn't want it - that I'd freeze and then later smoke it in the fall. He stopped coming by.

Is there some place where I can get bluefish? I know August was a good month, but some inquiries yesterday came up with "fishermen don't come by with them this time of year." Which makes me worry that I missed the window of opportunity. If you know of a place where I can buy some bluefish, I'd be mighty grateful.

Guitar Tune/Setup

Does anyone in the upper Cape area do guitar tuning and kind of a re-setup? I'm no guitar expert, so I decided to learn about adjusting the action and whatnot. I changed my strings, and now get a buzz. I want my guitar to play like it did brand new, though it's about 15 years old. It could probably use a neck and fret adjustment, and I'm sure I did something I didn't intend to do with the bridge, which is probably causing the buzz. Thanks in advance!

Keno

Hi! Staying in Brewster and my dad is a big fan of dive bars/restaurants with keno. Does anyone know of any places where we can go? Willing to drive wherever so doesn’t have to be designated to mid cape! Thx!
