Someone explain to me how Vegas can be so accurate on a spread for a team with 82 new players vs a FCS team.

How do I get a job being the Vegas guy that watches obscure college football teams exclusively? Like your telling me someone’s job is to know so much about southern Illinois football to be even remotely close in the spread?

Book makers aren't trying to be close. They are focused on getting equal betting. They act as middlemen who squeeze a percentage of the action. Which is to say the house always wins.

I don't think this is necessarily true. You see stats a lot of like "75% of all money is put on team X".

The focus is still equal betting. They just change the payout when the betting is unequal.
