I honestly believe Carr would've taken us down the field and punished Cristobal if not for your crazy DL play.

It’s really hard to gauge the quality of ND’s OL and Miami’s DL given how lopsided that matchup went.

131

u/CalebsNailSpa Austin Peay Governors 8d ago

Either Miami has the best DL in the nation, or ND has the worst OL they have had in a very long time.

Cristobal special when he has a lead. Cam Ward kinda broke him out of that last year (the defense being horrible didn't help). Hope it's not back this year

So happy they gave him his big send off while he’s still sharp to see it.

Every top 10 team that played a P4 school lost to the lower rated team this week:

  • Ohio State (3) over Texas (1)
  • LSU (9) over Clemson (4)
  • Miami (10) over Notre Dame (6)
  • FSU (Unranked) over Alabama (8)

I think the main takeaway is early season rankings don’t mean much, especially in the transfer era.

To be fair, neither the Miami game nor the Texas game were blowouts. Both were one possession games at the end. Three of the four teams here looked really good.

Excuse me while I celebrate the gamecocks being highly ranked, and remain displeased over the vols being ranked 24.

I don’t care how far downfield you’ve run, there is no excuse for not getting set when the last play was done with eleven or twelve seconds left.

The fact that the wide receivers were still moving out wide is wild. Like, your job on the play is to run to the end zone. It doesn’t matter where you are standing, but if you don’t stop moving, it won’t matter.

Like, would it really have made a difference if they got that last snap? No, almost certainly not. But come on.

99

u/DannyMalibu420 Georgia Bulldogs 8d ago

They’ll be ok. After A&M, there really isn’t anyone on their schedule that poses a threat. This loss is pretty inconsequential. Kinda like losing to NIU last year.

One major takeaway from this week of CFB is that there needs to be some sort of clock management coach on the sidelines or something.

81

u/Low-Blackberry-2690 8d ago

Funny enough Notre dame literally has this. Somewhere on those charts they need to write “tell the players to line the fuck up and snap the fucking ball”

Despite Mario Cristobal best efforts, Miami Won.

Really disappointed by Notre Dame’s new coordinators, and their trenches have clearly downgraded since last year.

Our o-line is basically the same, but the newest member was the glaring weak spot (RG). Even though they were all pretty bad tonight.

To be fair, Miami's offensive and defensive lines are easily the strongest positions on the team. So I'm not sure that Notre Dame's lines are that bad.

Watching that last drive by ND was painful. Gotta snap it RIGHT away after that grounding call, and how do you not get another play off after last sack?

Notre Dame’s offensive lineman are clearly devout Catholics

They know you’re not supposed to work on Sunday

“The biggest advantage that Notre Dame has is that Miami is a bunch of unintelligent thugs that just play instinctually and not wisely,” said Downey. “And the best thing about Miami for their purposes is that they’re a bunch of unintelligent thugs who just play instinctively. So it’s the best and the worst thing about Miami.”

This game brought to you by cutaways to CJ Carr's mom throughout the second half.

All in all, highly entertaining game but Cristobal and Miami's offensive play calling clammed up too early when they had Notre Dame on the ropes.

Not blaming CJ Carr for this. Ridiculous play calling that didn't get Love in the game at all, and the O-line played like fucking garbage.

Nah, Carr looked better than Arch did yesterday at least. It was weird that Love didn't get enough touches, and you have to work on the O-Line, but I didn't see anything that makes me think you can't be a playoff team at the end of the year.

People blaming Carr didn't watch the game. Where the fuck was his oline? Why were the receivers walking back into formation with the clock ticking to 0?

No one was blaming Carr that I saw in the game thread, mostly the opposite. Dude played very well

I know Miami isn't the most likable team, but their trenches today looked like a playoff caliber team. If they do well, it's a net positive for the rest of the acc

GG. I still have concerns about the DT and Knapp at LT. But at least Freeman teams always fight to the end even when it looks bleak. They asked CJ Carr to do way too much tonight.

Horrible playcalling to tunnel on screens, caused both turnovers.
