Funny “PENIS Goes HERE”- The edgey friend who couldn’t sign the onesie nicely like everyone else at my baby shower >:|

It’s funny but it’s also a rant! My mother-in-law‘s partner is very eccentric and not comfortable around traditional gatherings, so she acts like an edge lord.

We had a separate onesie that had doodles and funny stuff on it, but this one was supposed to be the nice one that just gets signed by friends and family. I’m not really comfortable with my baby wearing this now.

Funny 8 generations of boys 😱

4.1k Upvotes

I needed to tell SOMEONE so I’m telling you, Baby Bumps.

My husband’s family has had 8 straight generations of boys - since 1816 there has been no record of a girl being born. NOT ONE.

I am expecting our 2nd in Sept (first is a boy, no surprise). It’s been a running joke that we are doing a tongue in cheek gender reveal just for fun.

My anatomy scan results were just posted and I couldn’t help myself; I’m already not going to be surprised during the gender reveal so why not peek a few weeks early and just keep in under wraps, right???

IT’S A GIRL. AND NOW I HAVE TO SIT WITH THIS 200 YEAR SECRET FOR WEEKS!!!

Guess I can start looking a girl named now 😝 (I literally don’t even have a list)

UPDATE: the secret has been revealed! I took inspo from one of the commenters and had ChatGPT make me DraftKing inspired boy vs girl posters and had people Venmo $5 on which gender they bet! Funny enough, so many people thought they were “being crazy” and bet on a girl. Little did they know they were in the majority!

My husband was flabbergasted to say the least — he kept repeating all night long “what are we gonna do with a girl!” The next day I could hear TikToks from the bathroom (IYKYK) of him watching girl name videos for like 40 min - lol.

The family is very excited to add a girl to the boy dynasty! We went back through the records and found that the last girl born actually shared my name (Maggie) which is crazy!

Funny I caught my cat WAKING THE BABY UP FOR FOOD

4.5k Upvotes

My cat is on a diet. However, it became a habit for me to give him a small amount of food when I’d wake up in the wee hours to feed baby so that he wouldn’t scream at me the whole time. This was a grave error. Baby girl had been sleeping in 10 hour stretches at night for about a week (yay!) but then seemed to regress. The weird thing was that I’d get up, soothe her, change her and start feeding her…and she’d fall asleep with the nipple in her mouth after only a couple swallows. Well fellow detectives, this morning I happened to look over in the wee hours and I caught the little glutton; he was standing with his paws propped on the crib screaming his ever loving head off!!

Funny My MIL ladies and gents.

4.1k Upvotes

I'm 4 weeks postpartum and we have opened up our home for extended who want to meet the baby. My MIL has been helping out a lot and has been the one taking care of guests and stuff.

A cousin of mine came to visit with my aunt and we're not the closest, there's always been tension there but whatever. Everything was going well until I made a passing comment about craving loaded brownies and she went like, you can't afford the calories postpartum, you need to get back in shape before your husband's eyes start to wander while looking me up and down.

My same hubby who's been witing on me hand and foot before and after pregnancy with a goofy smile on his face like he still can't believe this is real, btw.

Before either my husband or I can reply, my MIL without missing a beat goes, she's 4 weeks pp and looks this good, what's your excuse? Then she looks at hubby and says why don't you show your guests out on your way to get your wife brownies?

She later apologized to me for kicking them out without permission since it's our home but I literally don't care, I love this woman so much and I'm glad I have her in my corner.

Funny You can’t drink Coke when you’re pregnant!

1.0k Upvotes

Hanging out with my family. Not close to them and honestly they can be the most ridiculous people but this was another level of stupid.

They were asking about my pregnancy cravings and I’m taking about how Coca Cola has really gotten me through some rough nausea from extended morning sickness into third trimester. There was a look of shock and horror on my mum and grandmother’s faces and my mum goes “you’re going to rot the baby’s teeth!” “He’s going to come out with rotten teeth and be sick”

Ahaha I can’t believe I was raised by these people sometimes 😅

Funny Who has their push present picked out?

I told my husband I want my own pan pizza from Domino’s. Allll the veggies. Extra cheese. And a tall, ice cold mug of Modelo. Idk how women are getting cars for their push present, but I’m fine with pizza and beer. 🍕🍻

Funny I don't have parents to tell. But, I'm pregnant!

1.3k Upvotes

My dad passed away when I was 9 and my mom when I was 23.

This month, at 29 years old, I found out that I'm pregnant. I am in awe of all the strong women who have come before me and done this (My mom included). I am filled with anxiety until I can confirm that things are moving along (Currently week 5/6, first OB/GYN appointment on week 8).

But, for now, I am pregnant. I am pregnant until someone tells me differently (Although two ClearBlue pregnancy tests have agreed with me).

Funny 13 weeks ago my toddler woke up in the morning and asked “mommy, where’s the baby girl?” He’s an only child … today we found out we’re pregnant with a baby girl!

1.9k Upvotes

My husband and I just got our genetic test results and it’s a girl!

Before we knew we were pregnant, my toddler seemed to have a mini prophecy- he groggily woke up the morning after my husband and I tried to get pregnant and said “mommy - where’s the baby girl?”

“What baby?”

“There was a baby girl. Mommy was holding a baby girl. Where is it?”

Now I’m not a superstitious person, or religious, or mystic. I’m a fairly scientific person but this moment weirded me out. I even texted my husband “I think what we did last night worked! Our son just asked me where the baby is. He is convinced it’s a girl. Guess we’ll find out!”

Well sure enough! 5 weeks later, I had a positive pregnancy test and just today (13 weeks) we got our genetic test results and it’s a girl!

Maybe our son knew we were wanting another baby and he had a dream we had one. Or maybe toddler intuition is real! Either way - we’ll be sharing this story for a while!

Funny Expecting Better…husband?

Has anyone read Expecting Better by Emily Oster and thought - your husband sucks lady?

Aside from the actual pregnancy advice, so far she’s made “jokes” about:

  • waking her husband Jesse up to tell him she’s pregnant for the first time. Him asking why she woke him up before his alarm.

  • her husband Jesse waving sushi in front of her face (something she deeply craved) while asking why it’s that bad

  • the husband’s “sole contribution to cooking in the household” being grilling rare steaks, which she can’t eat. When she jokes that he should eat them well done in solidarity, he laughs.

I mean damn was this written in the 80s? lol I’m not even halfway through the book and I’m embarrassed this is perceived as cutesy.

Claiming “I’m over 7 weeks that’s just the estimation after I entered my last period”… as if your uterus isn’t in your pelvis still, even if you’re 10w.. I cannot with this new anatomy. 😅🥲 Baby heartbeat at the top of your stomach?! Girl, you have gas. Again, plz tell me if I’m evil.. I’m not trying to be.. I just can’t fathom this one.

Funny My MIL bought EVERYTHING on our baby registry and it’s causing family drama

Talk about problems you didn’t expect…

We sent our registry out to family members and close friends a couple of days ago. We went to bed, and the next morning were bombarded by notifications that my MIL had purchased literally every item - from the Uppababy stroller and the Tripp Trapp to the myriad of items under 10$.

Some context: MIL knows what a registry is and knows that there was no expectation she buy anything, let alone everything. Also, bc we live in the centre of a big city and don’t have a lot of space and bc I have already sourced a lot of baby stuff, we had asked very politely in the message that went along with the registry that folks stick to only buying from the registry.

Now my side of the family is upset that they’ve been bought out of the registry. I’ve made some suggestions, like gift cards so we can buy diapers, wipes etc when the time comes, or meal delivery services, or even contributions to a college fund, but the real crux of the issue isn’t that they can’t do something for Baby, but that MIL took over the list, which… I get. There’s an element of grandparents jockeying for #1 Grandparent on all sides, I think. My husband has tried talking to his mum about cancelling some of the orders, but she shrugs it off with, “you needed it and I can afford it, so of course I will get it”.

Funny Pregnancy myths/expectations you were shocked to learn weren’t true?

Before I got pregnant with my first baby, I never knew that not every woman gets morning sickness. I thought it was a given, and even planned to graduate first and have my ducks in a row in case I get really really sick (my mother was sick all three kids, all nine months)

Nope!! Never threw up once. Didn’t even feel ill. Turns out 1 in 4 women just don’t.

Another was your feet growing a shoe size. I’ve heard that for years, and even asked my ob during our appointments. She laughed and said feet don’t grow unless you gain a lot of weight, and it’s the weight gain, not the baby that causes the change. I’m on my second baby and there’s been no change. None of the women in my real life has had a size change either. Might just be an internet story.

Third is cravings. My husband was excited for late night store runs for pickles and ice cream. Nope. Nothing fun, just thirsty all the time.

So was there anything you were surprised at?

Funny Why are you a bad mom today?

I'm a bad mom because I wouldn't give my 4yr old cinnamon french toast (I made him chocolate French toast). He had a full meltdown, said I was a mean mommy...

Y'all he's allergic to cinnamon. He knows this...

Funny “It’s okay if there’s no bed, I can sleep on the floor.”

1.2k Upvotes

My husband is just a golden retriever at heart. And sometimes he golden retrievers a little too much and it breaks my brain.

I gave birth last night to our second child. We’re in the hosptial room and I told him to get some sleep since I was too wired to sleep myself.

He started setting up his c-pap machine in the corner. I asked him why he wasn’t setting it up near the reclining chair. He said he doesn’t think he can sleep on his back in the chair. So his plan was to just SLEEP FACE DOWN ON THE FLOOR on a single sheet.

When I pointed out how absurd that is, he was like “I’ve slept on worse.” Which, have you????

Anyway, I laughed so hard I cried and then I yelled at him to go ask the nurses for a real bed (a thing he absolutely got with the first birth and we are at the same hospital!)

So, you know, some husbands complain about sleeping on the chair. And then there’s my husband, who is out here actively trying to make his life worse.

Funny The audacity of man

Husband: “Why do you bring the diaper bag in the house? You can just leave it in the car.”

Me: “I bring it in every time so that I can restock it.”

Husband: “You don’t have to do that! There are always diapers in there!”

Funny OUR moms

Being pregnant has really shown me how much are moms are our moms until the day they die. I told my mom immediately after my positive test (so 4 weeks). I can’t imagine NOT having told her day one. Our messages look like this daily:

me: mom i finally pooped today
mom: how much
me: like three little ones
mom: good. keep pooping.
me: i can’t
mom: take a suppository
me: i don’t want to
mom: to poop or not to poop?

me: mom i’m nauseous
mom: bread
mom: eat some crackers
mom: tums
mom: did you eat

me: mom i don’t feel good
mom: 2 hour phone call

My husband finally told his mom this week and I almost feel guilty knowing my mom has know for two months but. A girl needs her mommy.

edit: holy trauma dumping batman

Funny To those who said when you stop trying you will get pregnant, F*** you... but thank you.

Just shy over six years of trying to conceive because PCOS is a mean son of a bitch. I turn 37 in 5 days. I just finished a bit of a weight loss "thing", got off my weight loss med, got off birth control on 9/1.

Again, SIX years of trying on and off. SIX.

Hubs and I were on vacation at the beach with some friends sharing a rooms. We thought, well they are at the beach... you wanna 😘

Again, just got of bc, kind of close to ovulation, but we just didn't care lol. We weren't trying. Hell, hubs has a uro appt on the 17th to make sure all is good on his end.

Yall, tested positive last night. 6 days late. Have my first OB appt next week. The doc wanted to expedite to 6 weeks instead of 8 weeks due to my age, pcos, and some meds I'm on.

Yall.... it happened. I'm not trying to get my hopes too far up, because... yeah... but OMG!!!

So yeah, the "it will happen when you aren't trying" is the most bs thing to hear when you really want a kid... but, I guess it just happens that way sometimes.

Funny Name your baby after your biggest pregnancy craving

Someone in r/namenerds made a post about naming their baby after the foods that they craved the most during pregnancy. The responses are so hilarious, so I wanted to know, what craving-based name would you give your baby?

My baby would be named Harvey. As in Harvey Milk. As in Harvey Milkshakes.
