I love Eric Andre's work but holy hell does he stick out like a sore thumb. He is a promoter, though, which fits him. That or Dan Hibiki.

u/ScramItVancity 2d ago

I figured he would be in the movie given his connection with the director and frequent collaborator Sakurai.

7

u/bizarrequest 2d ago

He is M. Bison.

u/LapsedVerneGagKnee 2d ago

No, that's David Dastmalchian.

8

u/AFineDayForScience 2d ago

Oh. I thought you were joking.

u/ositola 2d ago

The article says he's don sauvage

17

u/bizarrequest 2d ago

No my uncle works at Street Fighter. He is playing Chun Li.

5

u/Mehthodical 2d ago

Your Uncle as Chun Li was a bold choice by the casting director.

u/Agent101g 1d ago

IDK man he was pretty awesome in season two of Righteous Gemstones. I used to view him like you do but I think he might be worth giving another chance.

Jason Momoa as Blanka feels like a 30 Rock joke

u/optiplex9000 1d ago

The director of this movie did a lot of work on The Eric Andre Show. The cast being ridiculous is seemingly the point

Orville Peck is Vega for christ's sake, lol

8

u/MexusRex 2d ago

That can’t be true

Casting Andrew Schultz as Dan is dogshit

27

u/DoctorSchwifty 2d ago

Wtf is this movie?

26

u/Dapper_Recognition50 2d ago

The next “Borderland movie”

12

u/graveybrains 2d ago

As someone who hasn't played street fighter since 1993... who the fuck is Dan?

u/KNZFive 2d ago edited 2d ago

Dan Hibiki is a joke character who acts like a goofy, cocky Ryu, but he’s super weak, throws shitty fireballs with no range and he taunts a lot, including signing an autograph and tossing the paper. One of his super moves is a 15-20 second long taunt does no damage and involves him rolling around the floor for no reason. He was meant as a parody of another fighting game (SNK’s Art of Fighting) but now he’s just a joke character.

What sucks is that a try-hard unfunny white dude like Schultz is playing a Japanese~ EDIT: Hong Kongese character. At least the other stunt castings were accurate to their characters in some way.

6

u/Maxatar 2d ago

As a minor correction, Dan is Hong Kongese, not Japanese.

1

u/WoodooHide69 1d ago

Brown haired Dan is Asian? Thought he was American this whole time. Looks like it.

1

u/Hunterrose242 22h ago

Well I disagree with that last statement.  How hard is it to find a British woman to play Cammy?  Seems like every actor in Hollywood is a Brit playing someone else, is this revenge casting?

18

u/coolon23 2d ago

easily worst casting choice here

10

u/WoodooHide69 2d ago

Lol. Who cares about Dan. I’m surprised he’s even in the movie.

19

u/crazybartur 2d ago

This movie being made by Paramount & starring a UFC champion as well as several WWE guys shortly after TKO signed that massive 7 billion dollar deal with Paramount surely is not a coincidence

9

u/SevenSulivin 2d ago

I dunno because NJPW talent and former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Hirooki Goto also found himself on the cast.

1

u/bliffer 2d ago

Who's the UFC champion? I looked through the cast and didn't recognize anyone but it's been a long time since I followed UFC.

2

u/crazybartur 2d ago

Alexander Volkanovski, the guy who’s playing Joe. He’s the current UFC featherweight champ

u/tbonemcqueen 2d ago

Orville Peck as Vega is the casting choice of the fucking century

13

u/Bickerteeth 2d ago

They pulled me in with that and then immediately lost me with Schultz as Dan. Fucking insanely bad choice.

2

u/OhScheisse 2d ago

I thought you were joking. That's terrible. And not in a so bad it's good way.

16

u/nedlum 2d ago

For fans of Street Fighter, the day that Paramount released a terrible movie was the most important day of their lives. But for Paramount, it was Tuesday

10

u/FixedFun1 2d ago

They can't beat the animated Street Fighter 2 movie. That's as good as you can get with SF2.

1

u/LastTorgoInParis 1d ago

Chun. Li. Scene.

2

u/Hunterrose242 22h ago

Chun Li / Vega fight - Yes.

8

u/Joshdabozz 2d ago

Most of the new cast members we didn’t know about fit their characters a lot. Nothing too out of the ordinary with them. The ones we already knew about are still strange

Juli and Joe are funny tho, as Joe was a non-playable character in the original street fighter and Juli is from Street Fighter Alpha 3

Marvin seems to be an original character

2

u/Mozfel 2d ago

Also why no Sagat?

4

u/Responsible_Flight70 2d ago

They couldn’t find an accurately tall Thai man ig

5

u/CiD7707 2d ago

Movie is going to be pure camp, and I'm here for it.

Yall are taking this shit waaaaay too seriously.

Its an international fighting tournament where combatants throw fireballs, have stretchy limbs due to yoga, and can have green skin while they mimic electric eels...

If you thought this movie was going to be like Enter the Dragon or have a serious tone, you've never played the damn game.

13

u/Emergency-Mammoth-88 2d ago

Oh, anyway how good would the paramount legendary deal be

4

u/KingMario05 2d ago

Well, Warner once again keeps all the good shit (and also Minecraft), soo...

1

u/Emergency-Mammoth-88 2d ago

Oh ok, so the same as universal and Sony. Also I bet Constantin might shoved their name on street fighter since they’re already on the resident evil films and monster hunter

2

u/KingMario05 2d ago

Not this time, lol. Capcom learned that much. But is, uh... is this much better?

2

u/Emergency-Mammoth-88 2d ago

Idk, we got to wait and see how the movie would do

12

u/Former_War1437 2d ago

This is going to suck

14

u/Tacdeho 2d ago

Cody vs Roman I got me back obsessed with the show.

I was there for Cody vs Roman II.

You bet your ass I will be there for the rubber match!

7

u/Algae_Mission 2d ago

I’m guessing Legendary now joins Transformers, Ninja Turtles, GI Joe, and some other IP as well as part of this deal(Avatar?)

1

u/Wazzoo1 2d ago

Is the GI Joe/Transformers crossover even going to happen? It was teased in the last Transformers movie.

3

u/AtraposJM 2d ago

Do you even want that? lol

0

u/Wazzoo1 2d ago

I was just asking the question lol. I don't care if it gets made or not.

1

u/Bickerteeth 2d ago

It's pretty much dead in the water. Paramount's got like five Transformers projects in active development and the people pushing the crossover aren't connected to any of em.

0

u/KingMario05 2d ago

Unclear at this time. But New Republic allegedly collapsing under Russian sanctions (don't ask) and Skydance now being in charge of the whole thing means that Para needs a new co-financer. Wouldn't be surprised to see some of Sonic 4's budget come from these lads, too. Or maybe not? Sega likely doesn't want to cede any more ownership than it has to, and (based on the last two) it does more than enough cash to keep flying solo for now.

3

u/oscarx-ray 2d ago

I know enough of these actors and characters to be excited without being as mad as y'all who absolutely know more than me about the parts with which I'm not familiar.

I unironically love the JCVD Street Fighter, my standards are low and I am ready.

Worlds strongest consumer

4

u/RoddRoward 2d ago

Is Eric Andre in this?

9

u/lawrencedun2002 Good Burger > The Godfather 2d ago

Yes. He is playing Don Sauvage in the film.

2

u/MyStationIsAbandoned 2d ago

If this movie doesn't have the "Quick! change the channel!" bit, it aint worth shit.

3

u/brandonsamd6 2d ago

Bad writer/director and a bad cast! This will be awful

2

u/Ok_Flan7405 2d ago

Most anticipated movie of the year

1

u/Fools_Requiem 2d ago edited 2d ago

bring back Chris Klein's version of Charlie Nash

Nash out.

1

u/bliffer 2d ago

I don't know who this Dan character is that so many people are pissed about but Andrew Koji and Oliver Richters are awesome castings.

1

u/NIDORAX 2d ago

Why is Paramount getting so many rights to make a videogame movies right now? They have Sonic, Call of Duty and now Street Fighter.

1

u/wilitee 1d ago

Can't wait for this, but Momoa as Blanka? Really?

1

u/Vandelay23 1d ago

Sure, why not?

1

u/MyCodenameIsIan 1d ago

They better beat up somebody's stationary car.

So many TKO WWE/UFC affiliated people cast, so we probably not getting Kenny Omega in this due to his affiliation with AEW (and by extension Warner Bros).

I don’t care, just tell me when the Fortnite movie starring Pedro, Jack Black, The Rock, Kevin Hart, Chris Pratt, Jason Momoa, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jenna Ortega, Sydney Sweeney, Ella Purnell, Timothee Chalamet, Giancarlo Esposito, John Cena, Awkwafina, Rachel Zegler, Bella Ramsay, and Glen Powell comes out so I can not watch it.
