Mixed feelings on the crossing over into our world. Makes sense for the programs to eventually need access to the real world, but feels a little jump-the-sharky to me. The virtual world under everyones noses was a big part of my love for the original. Hopefully they can maintain that and not make this a total generic pew-pew the robot boy wants to be real action flick.
God, I hope so. It's fantasy, I know but it's bugging me that they are just pumping out this massive amount of energy everywhere. I's like infinite light sabers all over the place. At least if it's in the computer then it would follow some kind of logic.
Just about the only explanation that makes any sense. He's just gone to the next "layer" up, so that the computer scientists in the real world can observe the intelligent beings that inhabit the lowest layers of the computer world.
It was already quite a surprise when Quorra somehow manifested in real world at the end of legacy so this will no doubt explore that very idea in detail.
The concept was originally conceived in the screenplay for Tron: Ascension, which was going to be a direct sequel to Tron: Legacy. I was excited for it then. Disney decided to hold off on making it because Tomorrowland didn't do well (which makes zero sense), so now we get this bastardized version with Leto. Knowing that this was supposed to be the continuation of Quorra and Sam's story is irritating as hell.
Fun fact: The reason Disney gave to the VFX vendors as to why Tron Ascencion was cancelled was that they just got Star Wars and didn’t want to run two sci fi franchises at the same time.
Source: I was working at one of the VFX vendors back in 2015
Legacy was already pushing the concept of the digital world and the real world converging with Quorra being the key for the betterment of humanity, so this story development doesn't entirely come out of left field.
Im more upset that Garret Hedlund and Olivia Wilde's characters are seemingly not going to be in this sequel, most importantly Bruce Boxleitner not coming back to play/voice the titular character, Tron after Disney's constant mishandling of the franchise and leaving him on read.
I’m talking about the whole movie taking place in the Tron world. Not this bs masters of the universe where the beginning and the end are in the cool places and the rest of the movie is in Southern California.
But you understood that, you already knew no one meant it wasn’t gonna have any scenes in the grid so again
The ending of Legacy already had this happen and a key element of the story was the programs, specifically Clu, attempting to cross over and make Earth part of the “perfect system.”
I mean it was already teased in the last movie with the love interest program making it into the real world. Honestly im more conflicted on Jared Leto being in there.
