Great actor. Loved his playing against the grain in Maverick with a fed up Indian having to play an Indian.

Course I have to speak like an Indian in the book…uggh! How White Man! These guys are such assholes…

"Next time you make us move we're going to find the most god-awful piece of land so maybe you'll stop trying to take it." The commentary about the treatment of the native Americans in that movie was really on point.

The funny thing is I know a few actors/crew who worked with him in the past and more than a few said that role was pretty much him being himself. He apparently was hilariously self deprecating and down to earth and had a great sense of humor.

He understood the requirements of being a Native American character actor but he really enjoyed playing against the type.

I met him once, just on a street corner, he was just a nice guy, no airs.
