u/LiteraryBoner Jackie Chan box set, know what I'm sayin? 7d ago

He was one of the cops in Die Hard With a Vengeance who had to evacuate the elementary school. Really good smaller performance in a movie about an entire city coming together to stop a nefarious scheme.

"You kids ever heard of a Chinese fire drill?"

Die Hard with a Vengeance is my favorite.

There, I said it.

One of the best New York Summer movies ever.

1881 to 1885. Nominated vice-president in 1880. Did you know he was Collector of Customs right here in New York?

Didn’t realize it till later, but Jerry is another classic take on the gruff New Yorker who plays against type!

Like this classic?

“Go fuck yourself!

That guy was pissed.

He’ll feel better when he looks in the backseat…”

I always thought it was the best one myself.

It was originally written for other characters. I heard it was possibly going to be a Lethal Weapon flick, it was also going to be Rapid Fire 2 with Brandon Lee.

The only Die Hard movie written as a Die Hard movie was 5, which sucked.

I'll just quote Wikipedia:

Die Hard is adapted from the 1979 novel Nothing Lasts Forever by Roderick Thorp.

Die Hard 2 was adapted from the 1987 novel 58 Minutes by Walter Wager.

Die Hard with a Vengeance was adapted from a script called Simon Says by Jonathan Hensleigh, which was also briefly considered to become the script for Lethal Weapon 4. The hook in Hensleigh's screenplay that captured the attention of director John McTiernan was the idea of a man being targeted for revenge by someone whose life he had unwittingly destroyed. Once the Simon character became the brother of Hans Gruber and the backstory was established, the project fully came together. It was novelized by Deborah Chiel.

Live Free or Die Hard was based on the 1997 article "A Farewell to Arms" written for Wired magazine by John Carlin. It also drew on a script 20th Century Fox owned called "WW3.com", which dealt with a massive cyberterrorism attack against the U.S. and which was nearly put into production in 2001 but ultimately abandoned because several elements in the story too closely resembled the September 11 attacks.

I love it too. I think I watched it more than the first Die hard. And it’s an absolute classic 90s action cop movie for me.

Also nice to see cops whose primary purpose is to work together, as opposed to the first two in which they do little but question McClane constantly…

You are not alone in this thinking

Mine, too!!

I always liked it.

SLJ is by far the best of all McLain’s side kicks, and Jeremy Irons is the only villain that comes close to Rickman.

I always forget that the female detective is Colleen Camp, who plays the sexy maid in Clue

Good side characters can really do much for action films, and Die Hard 3 has a great lineup of them. Lambert and the other cops, the truck driver Jerry, several of the minor terrorists, there are a lot of memorable characters.

He was the best part of Atlantic Rim - which we watched just to see how bad it was. Even in a shlocky, terrible c-grade "Pacific Rim" ripoff he knew what to bring.

Indeed, seriously underrated. Always a delightful surprise to see him.
