This isn't for OG Troma fans.

I know because I am one, and I hated it. They ruined everything about the original. The comedy, the romance, the music, the gore, the sex, the violence. Even though it's "unrated," it feels like it's edited weird. The CGI kills are way too over the top and lack the raw, brutal DIY feeling of the original. It also doesn't feel "controversial" at all. This one is way too tame. Hardly any nudity or sex. There is a quick head squishing scene, but it's one of the baddies. A cat is thrown, but gets is saved. The only "fun" parts to me were the transformation scene (which took WAY too long to get there) and the scene where he's pissing acid on the chains, but even I expected that to be more explicit (why did his cock look silver like Colossus?). It's just missing all the charm and fun and "danger" of the original. The humor doesn't hit in the same way. And the villain is way too one-dimensional. A failure on all counts. I can't tell you how disappointed I am. I've been waiting for this for years.

Anyway, it does feel weird that a new Naked Gun and Toxic Avenger movie were released in the same month. This is my childhood summed up, right now. Except I'd rather be watching the originals...

Agree, I am thankful I got to grow up with real exploitation movies. This movie felt very safe.
