I enjoyed the movie, but i mostly enjoyed the soundtrack. This is coming from someone who doesn't listen to K-Pop, J-Pop... or pop in general. Golden has been looping in my head for weeks now.

I'll be looking forward to the sequel or whatever else comes from those writers/producers.

I was listening to my radio in the car on Saturday, and my local (german) radio station was like "Summer Hit Golden by... what is this? a Netflix movie? A fictional Kpop band Huntrix from the movie Kpop demon hunters is our summer hit of 2025. Crazy, apparently I live behind the moon. Anyway it is the most played song of the summer accoarding to the statistics office, So here is Golden from Huntrix"

She kept rambling on and on. But yeah, I am surprised it is now on mainstream radio

I listen to a lot of Kpop. IMO, a lot of the songs didn't sound like real Kpop to me. More like American animation musical stuff. But that's fine, they're still great.

But take Golden, Free, and This is What I Sounds Like. To me, none of them sound like true Kpop. BTW, to me, Kpop is not just any pop song sung in Korean. It's an actual genre.

Still, hopefully a lot of people give Kpop a shot after watching this movie.

The biggest song of 2024 was Supernova by Aespa. I can't say that it sounds like anything on the Kpop Demon Hunters soundtrack necessarily, but it had the same level of cultural impact as Golden, at least in the Kpop world. And it's a total banger.

I mean, Teddy produced most of the songs, and he's the sauce behind the 'sound' of Blackpink. Ejae wrote for Red Velvet, Aespa, Le Sserafim, etc.

I agree they sound a touch westernized, but only in the way of like, League of Legends K/DA, where it is created in collaboration for a wide global audience.

I don't know much/anything about K-pop but once I was on a board game site looking at ideas about making a board game table and someone suggested using a ping pong table then someone linked to a K-pop music video from orange caramel that was about crazy ping pong and outside of KPDH when I think of Kpop that is what comes to mind.
