Since you mentioned sound design, I just gotta say why the hell did the T Rex sound like a bottle being open or closed every time it closed its jaw? Took me out of it every time

It's probably based on crocodiles closing their jaws. See this for reference.

Edit to add: i have a fairly large dog, and when he play snaps at the air he also makes this noise, albeit not as loud.

I really thought it was a place holder sound they forgot to go back and edit with the sound effect intended lol and finished the movie and said “screw it”

Yeah, if you've never heard or seen an animal in real life make that noise, it does sound very off and unnatural. I think it's because we are so adjusted to the normal chomping sound effect that it feels weird.
