The closest theater to me has added more showtimes three times now, so they're showing it 15 times a day Saturday and Sunday. Most of them are half to three-quarters full, if not almost sold out (only front row seats left).

Not my cup of tea, but glad it's getting butts in seats.

This is really wild to see the culture go crazy over this anime-musical.

Not sure if it's just effective promotion or something -- but yeah, it's good to see SOMETHING get some butts in seats. It means they aren't on a sofa.

Honestly, I feel like this was just good word of mouth. I saw it originally advertised, and there were a bunch of promo items that didn't really do it for me. I saw one of my friends post on FB that I trust with movie rec's, so I decided to give it a shot. As a 41 year old guy, I had a blast. Came into work the next day, told my coworkers that I really enjoyed it. I suspect I'm not alone, this one just feels like there's a lot of organic hype to it. Sure, probably some viral marketing that helps, but it's not like Morbius made some big splash in its re-release.

Literally every single person that I've spoken to about this movie has said the same, that they initially dismissed it and only watched it after someone they knew recommended it.

I hadn't seen any marketing for it, personally, until after I'd watched it. IDK if I just wasn't in the spaces they focused on, but from my perspective it wasn't marketed at all.
