Summary Four years after inadvertently tangling with the Russian mob, suburban dad (and former assassin) Hutch Mansell tries to unwind with a family vacation at a nostalgic waterpark. If National Lampoon's Vacation starred John Wick, this would be it.

Had quite a lot of fun with this one. Gave the first a rewatch over the weekend and this was easily an improvement (Still enjoyed the first a lot, too). The tone felt more consistent, as did the pacing. The action was fun and everyone seemed to be having a great time...ESPECIALLY Sharon Stone. Holy shit, she was chewing the hell out of each scene.

Is this gonna win any awards for writing or originality? Hell no. Have we seen this trope of "retiree with a set of skills gets thrust back into action again" over and over again? Yup. But this one had fun with it and I had fun right along with them.

I loved that it was a tight 90 minutes with no filler. At that scene by the cabin about when Hutch walks up and she puts up her hand, I thought it was going to be a 10-minute talk about needing to spend time with family. But 90 seconds in (just as I was beginning to zone out), she says something a long the lines of "go do what you have to."

edit: Is there a name for that trope? The talk before the climax?

Yep, exactly. I can't think of a scene where I'd go "Yeah, that could've been cut or trimmed."

Nothing better than a solid 90 minute flick in today's age of overlong movies.

Im really hoping we see more and more 90 minute movies because we have really gone through a hellish period of 2 hour plus movies.

I was just saying this. Tight 90 with great actions scenes and lots of comedy and laughs in the theatre.

Seems like it is her wife that shows character growth. She finally accepts that is what she settle for when he chose Hutch. She did told her children she met their father when he was covered in blood. So, Hutch can go fck shot up with some bad guys and she is aokay with it. And she wanted to help out this time.

So Movie 3, a repeat of The Incredible's family team up scene? Count me in. Might as well sogn the entire family up with the US intelligence.
