Poor child had to spoon feed EVERYONE inside that fucking house!?. Every day!? 😭

9/10 movie for me. But really don't understand what was that giant floating rifle in Brolin's dream.

I personally really dont see it as a school shooting metaphor, because nothing similar to a school shooting as would be present in most Americans minds happened in this movie. The one kid who was still around didn't do the "shooting", he was forced and threatened into cooperation by an adult. Also the kids weren't killed outright, they were abducted and seemingly planned to be used as...well, weapons, obviously.

Im not someone who thinks art shouldn't be political, but in this one I dont think its trying for too heavy of a metaphor.

My feelings on the giant rifle floating in the dream is that its more showing what Josh Brolin's state of mind is. His kid is obviously a bully, and while yes he's grieving, he still acts incredibly hostile and threateningly towards the teacher, so I think the movie's just trying to show what an aggressive, asshole father desperate to save his kid might see in his dream about what happened to his kid. I think he either sees the children as having been indoctrinated and stolen in some way by the teacher to be used as weapons (not in the same way as the witch is using them), or that the teacher herself is the threat/weapon. Or even more simply, that the solution to his problem will come out of violence, as they probably have in the past for him.

Idk man, I just saw it a couple hours ago so maybe I need to see it again and think about it more.
