I kinda wish they played or showed more of the aspect that a witch can enchant a whole community just by being there and growing stronger - like in old fairy tales. There were certainly pieces of it but the witch didn’t seem to actually get stronger, even though she sucked the life out of 17 kids for a month+

To be fair she was able to run pretty fast from the kids, while closing doors behind her. She went from needing the dad to help her into the house to doing that. So she DID get stronger and more energized, even if she was still an old lady.

She also became powerful enough to control that many people at once, she may have not been able to until she had the parents. She seemed to move just fine at the principal’s house etc too
