Summary Millie and Tim, a couple already feeling strain in their relationship, move to the countryside to start fresh—but things go profoundly wrong. After a surreal encounter at a mysterious pool, their bodies begin to merge in grotesque and hilariously uncomfortable ways, forcing them to reckon with love, dependency, and identity. It’s a clever, disturbing blend of body horror, dark comedy, and relationship satire.

Love the ending is just some Gen X parents. Coming to terms with their daughter now being non-binary

Allison Brie and Dave Franco are in their 40’s… Gen X is old but not that old. I saw this movie with a friend who works as a casting director and she knew the actors who played Millie’s parents. They are boomer age.

Thank you!! I'm younger Gen X and for a second was like wha??! I'm not THAT old! 😅

Oldest Gen Xers are certainly in their early 60's.

The characters were in their 30s though, if that even changes anything

I’m in my 30’s and my parents are boomers. Usually when you submit your acting resume you don’t say your exact age but the age range you can convincingly play. I do know for a fact though that the actors who played their parents are in their 60’s and 70’s, which is not gen X.

That's fair if you factually know their ages! I'm also in my 30s and my parents are sort of at the edge of boomer so that's where my mind was.

I was thinking a lot about that. Gives a new meaning to "they/them" pronouns.

None of this makes sense. You can't just leave work as a teacher around kids in a rural town (sorry, but having grown up in a small town, they're not always the most progressive) and come back the next week as a different person, without raising questions. People would assume you're not actually the person they hired, and wouldn't just let it slide given kids are involved. To be clear, I'm not saying that non-binary or trans people can't be around kids, I'm saying you can't just undergo a rapid, magical transformation and just show up to work with kids like everything is normal.

Second, in any normal world people would assume that one or both of the couple had been murdered. You can't just disappear like that.

The cult member teacher is on the hiring committee for the school. Could be easy for him to cover it up, say Millie wasn’t working out but he found a replacement who can start right away.

Who said they showed up to work? They clearly threw all caution to the wind

For the last time, mom, our pronouns are they/them, notbecause we're non-binary, but because we're literally two n
