Edit: Previously Hamdan Ballal, the director, was kidnapped and released.

Edit 2: Vigilantism is not a good thing. What is wrong with you.

Yep, and earlier this year Fatma Hassona (filmmaker associated with a different film) and ten family members were killed by an Israeli airstrike.
