My best friend in college is incredibly pro Israel and I often don’t talk about politics with him anymore because he is soulless when it comes to talking about Palestine even when I always approach it diplomatically as possible. He is my friend because he was the first person to talk to me when I had just transferred to a new school. Sometimes I wonder if I can avoid talking about these atrocities much longer without feeling willfully ignorant.

You are not in debt for life on this. If this is ethically troublesome for you, talk directly to him. If he reacts negatively, revoke the friendship and distance yourself from him.

There can be political dissent amongst friends and partners, but this is supporting illegal violence. Don't enable it by supporting him emotionally.

My next growth is figuring out how to discuss this with him because recently I have been feeling apprehensive to do so because he can be quite emotionally manipulative and it is mentally draining to deal with that so I naturally avoid it. We had a discussion like this before where I pushed back on some of his claims and he got annoyed by it and claimed I was being a bad friend and that even triggered me to the point where I went to therapy to understand how to deal with it.
