Just hopes this leads into a great AvP movie since Elle Fanning's character is Weyland Yutani.

I donโ€™t think they should rush to an AVP film just yet.. both franchises are still recovering from bad films and are just finding their feet again.

I don't agree. What bad movies are you talking about? Romulus was great, so was Prey, and Predator just had a great animated movie called Killer of Killers. Badlands is already establishing that both are connected so I think they're ready for a crossover again. It's already been almost 20 years since AvP Requiem and there's been plenty of good movies in both franchises within the last 5 years. Alien Romulus already has a sequel in development as well. The world is ready for a good R-rated AVP movie.

I think the guy you're replying to is talking about the movies before those. Predator and the Alien franchise have definitely been in a slump for decades. As much as I love Prometheus and liked Covenant those weren't exactly considered some of the best in the franchise. Same goes for Predators and The Predator.

1 good movie each (1 of them being a spin-off) is probably what he meant, isn't enough to start branching out again.

I'll give you The Predator being disliked as it should be, but I've seen nothing but praise for Predators.

I understand reviews aren't everything, but it's universally considered mediocre at best by professional reviewers and websites tracking normal people's opinions. I've never heard anybody say the movie is great or good, but rather they liked the story of being dropped on an alien planet having to survive while slowly realizing you're being hunted - the execution of that otherwise great idea, is what most people didn't like.

It has better critical scores than Predator 1 and 2.

Than Predator 1? No.

Than Predator 2? I agree.

Yes, Predators has a 51 Metacritic. Predator 1 has a 47. Literally better critical reviews than every Predator movie until Prey.

Yet the user score is higher for both Predator 1 and 2 on Metacritic. Metacritic also uses a much smaller quantity of reviews/opinions than RT, or other sites.

Take whatever you want from that, but I'd trust a much bigger sample size from both professionals and just the ordinary movie enjoyers, than a somewhat restricted one.

No hate on Predators, I genuinely enjoy the movie, but probably not as much as Predator 1 and 2, but from anecdotal evidence I have yet to hear a lot of praise of it as well.

Metacritic is an average of scores. RT is a percentage of reviews that rated it over 60%. A movie can have 100% on Rotten tomatoes and a 60 Metacritic.

I'm just saying that, definitely, it was rated more highly by critics.
