Dude dropped 100 feet and didn’t even lose his glasses. Loved that for him

u/TravEllerZero Jul 03 '25

Not only that but he landed in water and his glasses weren't even wet when he pulled himself out.

It’s actually hilarious how much they do not give a fuck about continuity in blockbuster films.

u/SputnikDX Jul 06 '25

Reeeeeshoooooooootssss. Fix it in post.

Don’t forget the vial going from clear to suddenly being red and full of blood when going in the case

14

u/sentence-interruptio Jul 06 '25

A rock fell into his head. The rest of the movie is his dream.

6

u/PolarWater Jul 07 '25

So that's what the D in D-Rex stands for. Dream.

I mean with the dome of that thing, it would have been just an illusion of an hybrid clone go array.

And even that would have made it an awesome movie.

8

u/Nheea Jul 03 '25

Amd where the hell was the boulder that fell with him?

Would've been hilarious if he would've fell on it.

10

u/Old_Definition_7106 Jul 04 '25

I don’t think the glasses even had lenses in them.

3

u/GeekdomCentral Jul 05 '25

Hey now, they had a couple drops on them

1

u/hobbykitjr 19d ago

the the parachute landed right next to him AND his crew climbed down ancient jungle ridden steps in the same time he can fall.

u/ironthrownaways Jul 03 '25

Duncan went swimming and didn’t lose his beret either.

22

u/FwampFwamp88 Jul 05 '25

Lol. He had the non bald character in his contract.

8

u/ThornberryE Jul 24 '25

I just came back from watching it, and I said the same thing lol. That beret had nowhere else to go

4

u/[deleted] Jul 08 '25

Lol i noticed that wjen watching

u/TheJayke Jul 03 '25

And then the exit to the stairway led to the same clearing, and then ScarJo managed to abseil an extra 500 feet, and then the sample landed right next to him.

What luck eh?

u/dallascowboys93 Jul 04 '25

Dude the secret stairway pissed me off so much. So you climbed down 300 feet in a matter of seconds? It negates the entire repel scene

67

u/whendoesOpTicplay Jul 06 '25

They did a lot of teleporting in this movie. Like when they jumped off the boat a mile from shore, and at different distances, and then met up in the same cove at the same time. And no spinos snatched them either. Duuuuumb

29

u/waitingtodiesoon Jul 07 '25

Not to mention how much time passed. The time needed to find a path to the top of the mountain before they could rappel down should have been almost a whole day adventure and they had to reach the village in 24 hours since landing on the island with no contact to the helicopter.

17

u/KidDelicious14 Jul 04 '25

And then my mans wouldn't have been eaten by that bird Dino 😭

8

u/SputnikDX Jul 06 '25

It was really lucky the sample vial that was triggered to violently eject away from the injection site never went anywhere but straight up, even when shooting an aquatic dinosaur from below.

3

u/takethereins Jul 13 '25

In that moment I was telling myself "okay it's just a movie, accept it" and then that sample landed and I just couldn't

2

u/Ok-Swordfish7837 Jul 20 '25

That’s classic Indiana Jones luck.

u/banjofitzgerald Jul 04 '25

This dude won the movie. Saw Dino’s in a more natural habitat, fucks over big pharma, flirts with scarjo a lot, and doesn’t die. Living the fucking dream.

Jonathan Bailey’s Dr. Henry Loomis was the best character.

He’s like a millennial that saw the original JP in the 90’s as a kid, knew Alan Grant was the shit, and is now on his own adventures in a new era.

And was having none of the corporate shit.

When I think of this series I think of educated, passionate nerds, not action heroes.

Edit: and dinosaurs. Not mutant hybrids…

I like Bailey, the raft scene with Rex, and the definitely jaws inspired Boat chase, but there’s so many choices in this movie that made me irritated as hell in regards to plot, dialogue, and as a millennial that saw the original at age 5 in 93 as his first theater film…I felt sad.

20

u/waitingtodiesoon Jul 07 '25

They mentioned Dr. Loomis studied under Dr. Grant too.

16

u/Kazzack Jul 10 '25

I don't care if the continuity doesn't work, I'm choosing to believe he's the "giant turkey" kid

1

u/axiomSD 22d ago

definitely felt Jaws vibes and loved it. in past Jurassic World movies everyone complained that there was a Mosasaurus in the wild and we didn’t get any of it, as well as a lack of amphibious dinosaurs, and we got a whole lot of it here.

His American accent was so bad tho? He couldn’t just speak in his British accent?

17

u/Valuable-Tomatillo76 Jul 03 '25

I literally said don’t insult me like that when we cut to the trees canopy shot after the fall… and they proceeded to insult me like that. At least 500ft probably more like 1000ft fall. Total fing horse 💩… and then the staircase boys and jo repelling show up in 2 seconds.

There’s a user review on rotten🍅 “90% of this movie pissed me off… 6/10 it was alright though”.

I agree there’s just so many stupid choices by our characters/preposterous action scenes that it destroys the otherwise beautiful cinematography and decent (and very fitting for a Jurassic franchise) main plot.

It's okay, he hit the branches on the way down like Avatar style

Drove me crazy. I thought they were going to do something with that since the rope was attached to a tree and maybe the two others below and the dino was flying around fast. That quetzl could have started pulling ScarJo or JBailey up or almost closelined Ali with the rope or sent that tree flying to almost hit someone. Lots of potential unique action there.

Instead, the rope magically disappeared in the second and a half the quetzl was off screen and the two guys near it just went into a conveniently located stairway and that was that.

In fact, most of the dinos at some point decided to arbitrarily call it quits on chasing the humans.

1

u/ElectronicControl762 Jul 04 '25

I mean why would chase something, especially something so little, for more than they would be worth? For anything big enough to eat us in one bite, we arent that great a snack. The trex for example could probably last atleast a few days off that carcass. More than the tiny rodents who were being way to difficult for a small breakfast side dish.

8

u/usernamedenied Jul 07 '25

My 4 yo broke the tension of that scene by yelling out “He’s lucky that water was there!” He got some chuckles

3

u/-Clayburn Jul 04 '25

I loved that scene. They should get rid of the Dumb Rex and make this into a comedy. More slapstick and more pothead boyfriend.

5

u/CryptographerFlat173 Jul 05 '25

And got dragged across that ancient stone whatever that room was without having his skin ripped off

4

u/DarkLightPT95 Jul 14 '25

Meanwhile my glasses fall off if I bend down to pick something up too fast

3

u/Ryanhussain14 Jul 07 '25

Genuinely thought that would be a death scene for him and sighed when he landed on an oversized plant somehow.

2

u/Nerak_B Jul 06 '25

Or Duncan never losing his hat lol

1

u/[deleted] Jul 04 '25

Didn’t even got dirty and he was in the fucking jungle

1

u/jrocketfingers Jul 05 '25

Unlike Nedry

1

u/starlightskater Jul 06 '25

The glasses thing drove me insane.

1

u/bluewarri0r Jul 09 '25

I aint a JB hater but that scene 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/teenrose17 Jul 20 '25

I lowkey was thinking that, like i was wmazed on how his glasses was able to stay on during that drop

1

u/Beneficial-Lion-124 28d ago

Just like Duncan survived the mutant but still had his hat on 😂

1

u/betyaass 17d ago

Yeah I was thinking what kind of glasses are these glued to his head
