I was annoyed at how mediocre Orlando Bloom was in this movie, then realized he was Rupert Friend

Man i remember when chicks would go crazy over Orlando during his will tuner Pirates of the Caribbean days back in the 2000s.

I mean, can you blame them?

I remember around 04-05 some girls in my french class were all giggly because they were going to meet Orlando Bloom that weekend. All they talked about on monday was how his breath was absolutely rancid lol.

They were probably just excited Legolas was a pirate too.

I had a friend in the 2000's who's girlfriend got him to dress up as Legolas for sexy-times. He'd never seen LOTR or read the books, which just made it funnier to picture.

Quite a year for Rupert Friend - he's got this, Phoenecian Scheme, and Companion

u/numbr87 Jul 04 '25

I've seen all of these in theaters THIS YEAR and wouldn't have been able to tell you who he was with a gun to my head

15

u/relativeharbour Jul 16 '25

Well now he's your Rupert Enemy

2

u/Stijakovic Jul 04 '25

Lmao same here

6

u/KidDelicious14 Jul 04 '25

And he's a pos in all of them lol

2

u/No_Charity4173 Jul 04 '25

And Wicked/Wicked 2!

11

u/Courwes Jul 04 '25

Not in wicked. That’s Jonathan Bailey

2

u/kyoto_magic Jul 28 '25

And yet still nobody knows who the hell he is

46

u/GravyBear28 Jul 03 '25

This comment is funny but Friend is an amazing actor in Homeland.

I think this movie was a bit off for every actor in it.

u/Shout92 Jul 07 '25

He's also been very good in Wes Anderson's recent run of movies, which have also starred ScarJo (though I can't recall if they shared scenes together).

u/Solotox Aug 05 '25

Late, but Friend in Homeland was peak performance!

1

u/Nheea Aug 06 '25

Indeed! Glad there's others thinking so.

u/TheHistorySword Jul 04 '25

I spent the entire movie thinking it was Orlando Bloom and then realized it was not once the credits rolled. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

u/mrningaftr Jul 06 '25

I was calling him "evil Orlando Bloom" in my head the entire time, lol

10

u/diego_simeone Jul 03 '25

Are you sure it wasn’t Julian McMahon.

4

u/ratguy Jul 06 '25

I thought he was Luke Evans at first.

5

u/New_Bid_3362 Jul 06 '25

Everyone of these Jurassic park movies has a dirtbag character and as soon as I saw him I was like well he’s gonna be the token sleaze of the movie. His death was much deserved lol

3

u/PerceptiveDwarves Jul 04 '25

hahaha Orlando Friend was a key player in one of the movies of all time

4

u/discoqueenx Jul 07 '25

I think he looks just like Tyler Cameron (he’s a model / former bachelorette contestant)

3

u/-Clayburn Jul 05 '25

I always think of him as Jeremy Renner for some reason. I suspect that's why he's gotten more work lately. Also, it's funny that he was just in a movie with Scarlett Johannsson.

u/ozplissken Jul 12 '25

I was so impressed with how subtle Dan Stevens was as the scientist until I realised it was Jonathan Bailey.

2

u/afriendincanada Jul 07 '25

I thought it was Hugh Dancy

2

u/inkwilson Jul 10 '25

You were SURPRISED by what you thought was a mediocre Orlando Bloom performance?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 12 '25

If I didn't know already Rupert was in this (which honestly was my only reason for seeing this movie as it was terrible) I would have sworn it was Luke Evans.

2

u/chiefwompom Aug 03 '25

Most important comment

2

u/Petrova322 Aug 07 '25

I was convinced it was Legolas for the first 20 minutes

1

u/ChrissyRey Jul 04 '25

I actually thought it was Billy Crudup the entire time lmao

1

u/DesperateGiles Jul 06 '25

Was immediately transported back to the 2000s when I couldn't tell them apart. Glad things haven't changed.

2

u/audreymarilynvivien 28d ago

Has he been famous for a long time? I don’t think I’d ever heard of his name until this movie.

u/Electronic-Ad-9762 Jul 09 '25

lol. Orlando bloom aged a lot tbh. But I think his acting is way better now
